I was thinking of buying it, then I saw that Gamespot gave it a 5.2/10. That changed my mind a bit. Then I realized that The other two Gauntlets (which I enjoyed) also got a (PS2)6.2/10 and a 4.3/10.
Gauntlet Legends (N64): 4.3/10 (http://www.gamespot.com/n64/action/gauntletlegends/index.html?q=gauntlet)
Gauntlet Dark Legacy (PS2): 6.2/10 (http://www.gamespot.com/n64/action/gauntletlegends/index.html?q=gauntlet)
Gauntlet: Seven Sorrows (PS2): 5.2/10 (http://www.gamespot.com/ps2/rpg/gauntletworkingtitle/index.html?q=gauntlet)
What would you do?

I played Gauntlet: Seven Sorrows yesterday with one of my co-workers. Great multiplayer fun. I fail to see the major importance of all the available combos, but it sure as hell makes combat look awesome and flashy; nothin' like thrusting some dude into the air and juggling him with as many projectiles as you can.

My EB has the displays playing Gauntlet and it's pretty popular. Many customers enjoy it and actually look for the game once they are done playing. I fiddled around with it and it looks good and is fun to play with multiple people. I am tempted on getting it when it's between 20 and 30 dollars.

Gauntlet is well is Gauntlet.
Gauntlet legends and its expansion pack Dark Legacy, Both of them to me felt like i was playing a game from the 80's with new graphics and a new lvling system. Which was fine by me i don't mind a good retro game(maximo). I didn't enjoy those at all, found them boring. John Romero,Josh Sawyer went to work on the next Gauntlet (Seven Sorrows), i was really thirlled about the game, less than 6 months away they both leave, now im a bit worried, I only played a little bit of it and still feels like a game i played in late 80's and has no place now.
Has anyone played it online on PS2? If so are there alot of games going? hows the gameplay online?

I played and reviewed it for GameSpy (review here: http://ps2.gamespy.com/playstation-2/gauntlet-seven-sorrows/677422p1.html ). The online is pretty sweet, though there is definitely lag. You basically team up with up to three others, and start at whatever level the host chooses.
You keep going as long as you can, able to save your character after every stage. Online, there is no life restriction, so as long as someone survives to get to a spawn point, you can theoretically beat the game. I didn't try it personally, though.
The people I played with were cool on both PS2 and Xbox, and would give the lesser character more of the gold to help build up their combo arsenal. It also supports headsets.

Supposedly you can finish it easily in under 6 hours.
Thats way to short.

Online, action/RPGs like that are not about beating once and stopping. You keep playing to build up your character, and bump up the difficulty (I believe there are two levels above Normal).

Is there any Gauntlet game that takes longer than 6 hours? What do you expect, it's basically an arcade game.
