just got some stuff on my psp...I'm worried about overclocking. any reports of bad stuff happening with it? i'd assume not, since the processor is normally underclocked, right? I just wanna be really sure, so lemme know :)

The PSP's default speed is underclocked at 222mhz, this was mainly done to save battery time. Ive never had any problems when using the 333mhz speed (on emulators, loaders, etc). It may be just me, but it does seem to heat up the PSP a bit more, but as long as you dont have it in a Playgear (or any other case that restricts the ability for the umd slot area to "breathe") you shouldnt have a problem at all.

It's fine to run the PSP at 333 mHz. As Berzerker said, it's already underclocked.

Stupid question...that does nothing to help load times on UMDs right?

Not sure about that.

How the hell do you overclock the PSP for regular play, anyway? The only time I changed the speed was when I was playing a Super Nintendo game and it was a bit slow. The emulator had a switch where you could fix the speeds.

Theres no way to do it with "Sony approved" methods. Its mainly just used by homebrew/emulators/iso loaders. However, with Fastloader, i know you can boot a UMD disk at 333mhz, i noticed that some of the intro screens would go by quicker, but im not sure if it effected the actual gameplay.

I wonder if future games will "officially" overclock it....er....clock it back....normally....or something.

at 333 mhz, some games I tested can maintain their frame rate better than when they are played at 222mhz.
