do they still make new console Tekkens? the last one i remember is 3.

Tekken 5 for the PS2 was the last console version. There was also Tekken 4 before that and Tekken Tag Tournament.

Nice video. One question, how is the system of tekken like? it seems like to pull off combos, all one needs to do is to get them in the air and repeatedly dash forward and continue hitting. Either that or slam them against a wall and begin pumeling. Are there any other kinds of combos in the Tekken system, although I did see a couple grab combos. I just couldn't get it when I tried it at stores, my character was just so slow.
I also wish to make some kind of SD team, but for Smash Bros. Melee. Although I got my friends into it for a little bit, but only for a little. I wish I actually knew some really good players, but it seems Melee is a dying game, although I think it has one of the best fighting systems of all time, minus the items of course.

I know quite a few guys that play Smash in SD. But just like you said the scene is kinda dead here.
As far as Tekken goes. It can accomodate many types of play styles. There are tons of different kinds of combos, from natural combos, to gauranteed strings, to wall combos, and regular juggles(mostly which was seen in the video).
Juggles aren't that simple but the concept is simple enough. Basically with each move you tack on after the initial launch. The damage scales down more and more for each additional hit you use in the juggle. Kinda hard to explain it's easier if shown. If anything check out the system section at www.tekkenzaibatsu.com as it is very informative.

i ought to start a "we suck at shoot-em-ups" crew. 'cause i suck. at shoot-em-ups. for some sick reason, i love them and play them all the time anyway. i keep playing Ikaruga only to be hosed on level 4 over and over and...

Hey Markman, do your friends play Smash professionally? or at a somewhat pro level? I've been looking for someone that could match my caliber [not to brag] in Chula Vista. I need someone to actually test the little skill I have in the game.
Though kinda off topic, here's a nice Smash vid of two of the top world smash players.http://youtube.com/watch?v=P-v-8po6_pk&search=bombsoldier
allyourblood, don't worry, I'm horrible at shooters too, but they are damn fun, I'd have to say.

07-28-2006, 06:17 AM
I know some friends that tried to play professionally and I actually have a friend(doesn't live in SD) that competed nationally in Smash(he goes by the name of MattDeezie or Deezie). In SD I don't know anyone that plays it anymore, game has been out for awhile.
But in the Chula Vista area I know of some guys that play. I'm not sure how good they are though. I know they play Tekken and Soul Calibur though lol.

Thanks for the info MarkMan, hmm, MattDeezie doesn't sound too familiar, but yeah, Melee seems dead with all the new games coming out, I guess I'll have to wait until Smash Brawl comes out, which is probably next year... T.T

Hey, does anyone know if they have any copies of Mr. Driller at Fry's? I want to go there tomorrow, but I don't want to end up getting there with no luck. I 'll try to call them tomorrow as well, but they never answer their phones. Thanks.
EDIT: actually went there and there weren't any on display. But I asked the guy in charge and he had a bunch in their reserves. I'm assuming though they are restocked on the shelves by now. It's a great game and definitely worth 10 dollars.

my buddy picked up the last XB Silent Hill 4 from the Sports Arena Circuit City for me 3 weeks ago for $5.96. i don't know if that means there's more out there or not, but it's worth a shot! the Chula Vista store is defintely out.
other than that, i haven't really seen or heard much when it comes to cheap SH titles. if i stumble across any in my travels, i'll post here with info.

If anyone is interested, Fry's has the Black and Pink DS Lites in stock.
Does anyone here have Silent Hill (PS1), Non GH? I've been wanting to add that to my collection for awhile now. Or anyone have any games they wanna get rid of?
I have a bunch of sought after games that I can trade up... Suikoden II, MGS3 Subsistence LE, and others.

phew luckily i called gamestop and they had the t5 set. I was bummed not finding any used gba micros down in CV, but when I got this, it made me forget all my worries. It happened to be the last one that was on display prior. Sorry Charlie, couldn't find the SF stick. I think it's only from the ebgames that kept them since before the merge with gamestop. Somewhere on that thread it said it was an ebgames exclusive. Good luck with finding that stick though.

Hmm, I called almost every gstop in chula vista and none of them had any left. Luckily I called the one in Natl. City, the one on plaza blvd to be exact and they had one left. And it was one of the display ones as well, very good condition I might add. But yeah, i think they're all gone down in CV, I'm sure there are still a couple more in SD county. It was well worth dialing in at multiple gamestops. $30 for this deal is just excellent.
Haha, I believe I have a friend in SD Tekken, haven't talked to him for a while tho. And I pretty much suck at tekken as well, hehe.

Me and my friend got dissed on the day of those massive gcrazy markdowns. I asked for Fatal Frame, and low and behold they had a copy. The girl clerk, you might recognize her as the short stumpy fat emo looking one- Well, she said, "yeah we have it for 49.99.... Oh crap, it's 16 sumthing [I forget the new price]. I better get it before you guys do!" Then she tried to be like Sly Cooper or something and my friend sees her pull Fatal Frame from the display and hides it, I assume for herself. Then she comes back, "Oh I'm sorry we actually don't have anymore in stock." Me and my friend were extremely pissed. And this was like the 2nd time I got screwed over at that same gcrazy.

After that we went to the Imperial Beach Gamecrazy to look for some games. We then told one of the girls who worked there what happened. wow, that's messed up. i actually know who you're talking about! she wasn't there when i bought the stuff, but she handled the return. she was running some Dane Cook mp3s on her cellphone (thru the "speaker phone" thingy"), so everyone in GC, including her stupid friend, could hear it. while i don't mind the guy or the swearing, anyone who came near could hear "f*ck" flying around with wild abandon. she rang up the refund pretty quick, but she acted like i wasn't there, and wouldn't make eye-contact. when i said, "thanks and have a great day", she didn't even respond. i didn't think much of it at the time, but now that i hear you folks and your complaints, i wished i'd said something nasty on the way out.
and for the record, if she pulled that FF3 crap on me, i would've left with the game, i can guarantee you that. i can hardly believe that even happened.

09-19-2006, 05:48 PM
Sigh, did you find anything else at that gamecrazy ayb?
well, what's interesting is that the spot where Fatal Frame 3 goes (on the lower shelves with a $49.99 price tag) was empty by the time i'd got there. that means i probably hit the place a day or two after you (thinking back, it was Friday, Sept. 15). i picked up the following:
GBA
Shining Force
Lady Sia
Boktai 2
River City Ransom
PS2
Digital Devil Saga 2
as i mentioned earlier, i picked up DDS2 to trade for FF3, but someone on CAG was nice enough to sell it for a not-entirely-offensive price, so i brought it back. when i first bought everything, i was rung up by the "new" guy, who has glasses. he was nice enough, and didn't try to push the MVP thing on me. he doesn't seem to know his games very well, though. when i'd name off titles that i wanted to buy, he'd repeat them back as if he'd never heard of them. that's not really a knock against him -- i just thought it was funny.
at the National City GC (back on the 14th) i picked up:
GBA
Boktai
Ultimate Muscle
XB
Fatal Frame II
the only two i really wanted and missed out on completely were Shining Soul and Shining Soul 2. i figure i'll run into them eventually, somewhere down the line when another retailer blows them out. still, i'm pleased that i found almost every selection that i wanted.
oh, and for the record, i only bought one of each title. not just because i'm not a hoarder, but also because each one was the last copy. i have a little brother and a fellow gaming-friend who i also buy for (since i tend to be off of work earlier), and both were bummed to hear what i'd bought after telling them that there was only one of each.

Well after seeing the PS3 camping list for SD, I was wondering if any SD CAGs are going to camp out for the Wii as well. If there is enough, maybe a few of us can meet up at our local retailers. I'm in the 91910 area, and the absolute farthest I'd go to wait at is the 92126 area (depending on the allocation of units, I'd probably stay closer to where I'm currently at).
I didn't know about CAG until last December so I ended up camping out by myself at my local BB for the X360 since most of my friends and family members either didn't want to wait 12+ hours or weren't entirely interested in the console itself. I ended up meeting a couple cool people (others were just straight out from D&D).:cold:
Well anyway, if we can get organized enough, maybe a few of us CAGs can get together within our areas, scope local retailers out, and come up with a list of stores and the # of units they might/will be having at launch; so that we can have a pretty good idea of where we would have the best chances of obtaining a console at launch. Obviously they won't know this information until a week or even days before the launch, but whatever we can conjure up is better than nothing. And after that maybe we could finalize the list of where everyone will be at.
I myself already have 2 pre-orders for the Wii (Amazon & FYE; not too confident about either of them), which a couple of my friends/family members may take if I do obtain a console by camping out. I'll also try to pre-order at EB/GS whenever they release their pre-order details, but I mainly want to get the Wii at BB (for the 2-year PRP plan; and I've got a good amount of RZ certs to burn as well). If I end up with an extra pre-order/console at launch, I'll let you guys know.
So let me know what you guys think, or plan on doing to get ready for these console launches. Hopefully we can come up with something.:)
{Also, we should :twoguns:that bitch up at Gamecrazy}.

i don't mean to toot my own horn, but i always thought i was a "pretty cool" video dept guy. i gave away stuff, sold off penny guides on purpose, tried to be polite to pretty much everyone, made jokes with customers, offered discounts when i could, and knew what i was selling, most importantly. i don't miss the weak pay and BS hierarchy and in-fighting, but i still miss working there. sometimes i think i'll go back during season, 1 day a week, just for fun. then reality sets in and i slap myself silly.

But yeah, don't really know any mean TRU employees, but I do recall some stupid lazy ones, but of course I doubt they were you though. The big thing I remember from NC TRU was finding a bunch of dirty diapers in the parking lot, man, that was a sight to behold.
I was thinking of working at ebgames this summer, but when i asked them their wage, I went "bleh". No offense to those who work there though.
We definitely need more guys like you ayb in game stores these days, 'tis a pity.
Hey Markman, what is the fighter that everyone is into in the arcades in SD these days? I'm trying to get into Guilty Gear [only got GG#Reload on comp and crap GG Isuka on PS2 T.T], but seems like no one knows that game in these parts.

There are a few fighting games that have a good following here in San Diego. A lot of people play at Plaza Bonita Tilt on Friday/Saturday. You can find competition there for Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection, Capcom vs SNK 2, Marvel vs Capcom 2, and maybe Tekken Tag Tournament. They're working on getting a Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike unit soon.
I think the biggest scene in SD though is the Tekken scene, we have one of the largest, if not largest groups in the US.

that is so weird. i've been out of the arcades for so long, it's kind of odd to think about a bunch of guys (or gals) gathered round the machines battling it out. my heyday was Street Fighter II and Mortal Kombat. i can still remember rushing off with whatever money i could scrape together to the comic store and duking it out, video game-style. arcades i hated: Astro City in Imperial Beach (the guys who ran it were mean), and that one located near the Sweetwater Theater in National City. EVERY game had the volume up all the way, half of the speakers were blown, and the rest caused rattling cabinets. on top of that, they charged at least 50 cents per credit (though most were 75) on every freaking game. losers.
i only make it to the malls when there's a deal or during Christmas, but if i land there on a weekend, i'll stop by and watch you guys goin' at it.

Man, where were you guys when I announced that GC was taking preorders for PS3 way back in November? First on the list for preorder at GC here so no waiting :) From my understanding, and what they told me, it's just a downpayment. I pre-ordered mine there in November as well with $50 down and I was second on the list. I checked back last month to confirm my spot and they are like "there is no list, the $50 is just a downpayment and does not reserve a spot or guarantee you a system at launch." I asked to see the list where I was positive I wrote my name and information down, which in turn they said was lost or thrown away. Maybe your GC is different (which one was it?), but this was my experience from it after talking to some guy that seemed like a district manager. He had one of those bluetooth headsets and seemed to be going to every GC to check how the stores were looking since they were changing their way of displaying games. I just took my $50 back after that and bought Saint's Row.

i have no intention of buying a PS3 at launch, or even some time after. i considered making an attempt to buy one and resell (dick move or not, when it comes to a Sony product, i don't care, call me what you will), but seems like a little too much effort for not a lot of return (assuming double or double and a half profit). if a PS3 lands in my hands come launch (since i have a couple buddies that work retail), i'll get it and see what happens. either way, i'm not gonna own one until it comes WAY down in price, purely on principle.
i'll be there with bells on for Wii, though. and a fancy hat.

I did this at the Genesee/Balboa store. I'm pretty sure mine was a preorder and not a down payment because when I went there over the summer like around June to double check my preorder they said I would be getting it on launch since it was in fact a preorder and reservation.
And where did you get that gamercard? That is fucking cool!

as a game crazy employee i'll clarify the whole pre order thing.
basically what happened in 2005 with the xbox 360 was every store was taking pre orders up until around september/october these were official pre orders since the SKUs were in the system. the problem was micrsoft came out of nowhere stating that they can only meet the pre orders that were taken up until june 2005 and stores should have cut it off then................ but they didn't tell stores to do that until OCTOBER...
so that whole fiasco lead to GC taking pre orders on wii and ps3 early (around end of 2005) so if either nintendo or sony tried to pull a M$ type announcment then all their systems before "june" (or whatever date) should be met. problems started arrising around now when sony or nintendo aren't putting the SKUs in the system... meaning they really don't want "pre-orders" probably because they don't know how many they can meet (especially sony).
sooo we got a letter from corporate saying something like (i never read it, this is hear/say with other employees) "do not take any official pre orders on wii or ps3. call your customers and let them know they are not guaaranteed a console." we have to do this, this month.
my store has held onto the pre order list forever and we have it in the exact order it should be in... it's basically our choice (and other stores choices) to honor them like official pre orders or not. our store is. but good luck if you were #15 or something on the ps3 list. seriously think about camping. Wiis should be a little easier. most stores have a shitload more ps3 deposits than Wiis.

AlexMan and Ace R. stayed just to reserve one because we waited so long. Cody and I raced down the 805 from Mira Mesa and ended up at Plaza Blvd. in about 15 minutes. We were able to secure 60G PS3s at the Plaza Blvd. GameStop. Whew.
And to make things worse. The stupid cutie asian girl manager was an idiot and they had FOUR PS3 60G units. What the fuck. Doing adventure mode for nothing. Regardless got my two systems. Bladow.

Well today I go in being a little unsure since all the news online was only about PS3 pre-orders and I tell the guy that I got a call telling me I could pre-order the Wii today. The guy had no idea why I would have been called and told that. He gave an indication that pre-orders would be the end of the week or Monday of next week. By any chance did this happen to anyone else?

Well, went to Mission Valley last night and got Clubhouse there. They didn't have any GGC's at Mira Mesa when I called and last looked a week ago.
Clubhouse is a great game and I just love it. But only gripe I have is that some missions in the game can be downright impossible. Otherwise, I'd say this game was definitely worth it.
I'm also looking forward to the TRU B2G1 sale and hope to pick up some ds games. Are there any other sales I should look forward to for ds games? I just saw the gamestop used b2g1 sale but unfortunately I don't think any FYEs around here accept games to make the sale worthwhile for me. If there are any FYEs that accept games, please tell me.

yeah, my mother-in-law turned my wife and i on to them. i wouldn't say they're the best i've ever had, but they're pretty good (just a little out of my way, usually). their carne asada can be a little salty sometimes, but i don't mind. and in defense of Roberto's CA fries and burritos (at least, at the one nearest me), they're using some killer new fries and they usually get them pretty crispy on the outside before throwing them in the 'ritos. they were "meh" before, but now i really like 'em.

Damn, you guys are making me damn hungry. Loli's is good, but I think that the carne asada fries, or cotixan fries at Cotixans is about the same as Loli's. If you don't want a California burrito [personally, i think they put too much fries and not enough of the other stuff], I'd say go for a Lunch Burrito [which is basically a breakfast burrito with choice of meat] at Cotixan's FTW. The only ones I know of are in Chula Vista near the 805 and one in Clairemont.

Do you go to the cotixan off genesee? And where is Loli's? Never ate there before. I know plenty of good places up in north county though and just a few down south and around clairemont/kearny.

My favorite taco shop chains are Alberto's (I usually go to the two in Poway or I just stop by one if I see one while I'm driving and I'm hungry) and Sombrero (Carmel Mountain). Late night spots after parties or the club that I go to are Roberto's (Miramar rd.), Super Sergios (Clairemont, Bonita-sweetwater rd), Jillbertos (palm avenue next to montgomery high). If you go late at night, just make sure you don't fuck with the wrong people or be ready to handle some business.

But yeah, the Cotixan [carne asada] fries at Cotixans is simply the bomb, and slightly cheaper than Loli's I think.

I believe that's the one I was referring to, which is actually the Genesee one. Yeah because I remember seeing it when I went to Gamecrazy in the area.
As for Pho, I don't really like the stuff. I'd rather have the vermicelli instead, I just can't handle the tripe and smell of Pho.
Hmm, another notable Mexican Food place I used to go to was Colima's, which had some darn good carne asada burritos. They also give large ass servings and when I tried to eat their supreme quesadilla, I almost exploded, it's basically a carne asada burrito in quesadilla form. Only one I know of is the one in Bonita. Ahh, Bonita is a great place.

There is a Cotixan on Clairemont, its just a couple stop lights east of Genesee on Clairemont. I've been there and they're stuff is pretty good, although I usually go to the one on Genesee.
Cotixan has some great cotixan fries for sure, but I don't think anyone has mentioned Santana's. Santana's has some great carne fries and a good california burrito. Lolita's is pretty good I guess but like someone else said there are too many fries and not enough other stuff in their california burrito, I haven't had their carne asada fries so I can't judge those.

Man, that was only one time. Haha, Cocksingtons.
There's a bunch of Chipotle's up here in UTC/La Jolla area. My friends were totally into it, but they were from out of town. Its ok the first few times, but you'll always go back to authentic Mexican food. Basically at chipotle, you pick what you want in the burrito, and they wrap it right in front of you, though, they don't cook it over the stove, just wrap it. Basically like cafeteria style. I just don't like going there too much because it's like 5 or 6 dollars for one burrito when I could get a bigger authentic burrito somewhere else for a little over half that price.

i've been to mexican places all over sd and honestly, it just gets worse and worse the further north you go.
colimas in national city/chula vista is better than the hillcrest one.
other notable mexican places in chula vista... don pedros on 3rd ave, robertos on h st. right by gamestop, alazanes by southwestern college, and if you live in chula vista and deny the greatness of lolitas (priced higher than most places) than you're not from chula vista.
oh yeah! almost forgot about this place. robertos (different from the cv one) off of highland in national city will DEEP FRY YOUR CALI BURRITO. so if any of you are in the mood for a great tasting heart attack, go there. and don't be scared to roll through their at night. it's really not bad.

Next to the Rite Aid/Dairy Queen. I normally go to Sombrero across the street when I'm near home. I've only ate at Jalapenos a few times and wasn't too impressed with their carne asada fries, but I liked the nacho cheese somewhat. I didn't try their california burrito. I didn't like their prices too much. There are a few other locations since it's it's a chain of restaurants.
I used to go to Alvaros more down the road in Sabre Springs (used to be an Albertos), but their portions got way too small and their prices got too high. I laugh at people when I hear them say "lets go eat at alvaros".

Sombrero doesn't taste the best (if you ask me), but they have one thing that beats out a lot of other places: consistency. in my experience, if you order something once, it's gonna be the same way every time. which is good or bad, depending on your outlook. they also tend to use very fresh ingredients -- i've never had anything "stale" from them.

Yeah, I've been to a lot of taco shops, but Sombrero is just the is the best value/quality of the taco shops near my house. Which is still a 10 minute drive, pretty far just to get some mexican food. I'd rate it a 4/5 in quantity and 4/5 in quality. There are two that are less than 5 minutes away from my house (cotixas and robertos), but I don't like them that much.
There is an albertos another 5 minutes down that has golden and crisp fries, but I'd rather drive somewhere closer to my house.
Two real good places on Miramar Road are Roberto's (I already mentioned it) and palominos--they make massive burritos that are like 8-10 inches tall and like 4 inches wide. I usually only go to Robertos late way after 12 midnight, palominos just whenever.
I don't think any of you guys live up north, so you probably can't really compare the shops up here. But I go down south a lot and the only places I haven't tried that you guys mentioned is lolitas. I'll try it soon.. I'm trying to shave off five pounds. Roberto's on Broadway in Chula. and that's exactly what i said! my order ended up being about 1/2 the size of my pal's order! i was annoyed. they're usually pretty good about that sort of thing, but i guess they gave me the end of the batch of fries, and didn't want to make more?? either way, they were great. the fries were perfectly crispy, and it went down smooth. a couple years back, they used to put sour cream on there gratis, but they haven't done that in some time. the price has also gone up a dollar recently. oh well.

That looked like a usual carne asada fries except it's missing sour cream. The cotixas next to me and the one in mira mesa (called patron but it's a cotixas restaurant) uses the bigger fries, beans and pico and it's a lot bigger than that, but I don't like their fries because they don't have the golden and crisp look and taste.

Hmm, I thought Cotixan fries were just as good as Lolitas. But then again, I haven't had Lolitas CA Fries in a while. But what I do remember about them is that it's priced slightly higher and they usually have more fries. Because by the time I finish their CA Fries, I start getting thristy because there isn't enough of the other stuff. I also like the salsa at Cotixans a little better, I could just drink the stuff.

Did you like it? I know they don't have this food in the bay (I don't know about Salinas), at least from what people told me. They have a "San Francisco burrito", haven't tried it, nor has anybody I know that lived in the bay.

Cali burrito is in wikipedia too:

I like it. Going to take my roommate tomorrow to go try them. I don't know if they have it in salinas but I've never looked for it. The thread you made in the off topic forum was the first time I've heard of them.

No Way! Any idea if any of the other TRU around here specifically further south, I think there is one closer to the 8 and 5.
Edit: Hmm, a friend of mine called the Escondido store and they said not until Sunday. Maybe you just got lucky.

Aww man, I didn't get to see it either. I guess there isn't any love for them outside of SD. Btw, I was starving today and strolled on by Cotixans on Genesee, though it was like 3+ miles away, it was totally worth it. The cotixan fries were the bomb, made me feel like a champion.

yo sd cags i work at the game crazy of east h in chula vista. me and my manager transfered to the store to fix it up. we got it looking pretty nice and organized and to boost revenue we're going to be handing out coupons at southwestern college and bonita vista high. im not sure what the coupons will be but i'll give you guys a heads up when that's all done so you all can score some.
we might also be hosting a guitar hero 2 tournament to win a free guitar hero 2.

let me give you guys a quick run down on that store...
that store was last in the entire company as far as pre orders, revenue, mvps, and warranty sales went (sure, it might sound like super shady corporate business to us CAGS, but that's how you HAVE to run a store). manager's were coming and going through that store like nothing. so the employees never really had direction.
i worked at the store off aero drive along with my current manager, who at the time was the assistant manager at aero. they told him he's getting his own store and that store ended up being east h. cv (big surprise, stick the guy in the worst store in the district AND company). so with this store being closer to home i went along with him. our first day, we basically walked into the store and could not even believe it was a store people would come to. it WAS completely unshoppable (we have fixed it up a whole lot since that first day). shit was everywhere behind the counter, new stuff on the walls was squashed together and un priced, the used game section had game cases of games that we didn't have or we did have but have dropped in price months ago and still have a 41.99 sticker on the front (still working on this btw). the store was horrible. luckily we've had a quick turn around on it and are putting up some good numbers and TRYING to get people to shop there, the problem is, the retards (no offense to fellow cag ffmooglestar who also worked there at one point) at this store (this definetly includes the stupid fat emo girl) have fucking scared everyone away and forced them to go to ebgames and gamestop in eastlake.
the big problem is, unlike ebgames and gamestop, game crazy doesn't rely on the name to bring people to their stores. people go to gamestop because the name is very recognizable and the stores are fucking EVERYWHERE. we are an ant compared to the corporate machine that is gamestop and the only way to compete is to have loyal customers... and you can't exactly have that with shitty employees (which really isnt their fault. i mean, they had no manager for like... forever.) who scare people away. that's not to say everyone who worked there is a horrible employee, some are cool, some aren't. we rely more on customer interaction rather than "here buy this and this and get the fuck out." that seems to be the gamestop/ebgames moto (at least here in chula vista). they encourage us to sit and talk to customers about okami for a half hour rather than the hurry up and buy something sort of thing. i like talking to people about games so it rules.
i'm rambling now about this shit so i'll end it. i could go on and on about how this store was horrible and unshoppable. luckily though the store is becoming shoppable AND the fat emo girl is long gone (she transfered, thank god). she was/is the worst.
so yeah coupons should be coming. i don't know how great they will actually be but i'll give one to every sd cag who wants to roll out to the cv store because im not sure... but these coupons MIGHT be store specific.
and i'll post guitar hero tournament details as they come.
i usually work about 3 - 4 days a week. if you wanna come buy some stuff, try something out, see if we have something in stock or just talk cag, then stop by. if you see a black dude with glasses working, that's the manager, ryan. let him know you're in the store because of cag. i told him i could bring some people in through this website. he'll be surprised.

I take it the pre-orders are being released today at local TRU's. Would it be worth stopping by the La Mesa store or will they all be sold out in the first few minutes?
I'm still waiting for them to get Bully in...

There are 8 of us here already at National City... pretty much done if you're hoping to get a PS3.

BEST CAMP OUT EVER.
Here in San Diego we had the best PLAYSTATION 3 and Wii campout ever.
A group of gamers from SD TEKKEN (a local gaming group) ended up securing all 7 of the 60G PS3 units and a few of the Wii units by lining up at Saturday 1 AM beating out the rest of the crowd in San Diego at the National City Toys R Us. While most camp outs are considered hell, SDT took advantage of the 30+ hours spent by making it as fun and entertaining as possible.
Check out this set of pictures!
http://flickr.com/photos/sdtekken/sets/72157594351254650/
It was 2 nights of fun. The first night consisted of watching “Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story” on DVD and watching the latest PS3 and Wii trailers. The second night being the more exciting where we played Guitar Hero and the Guitar Hero 2 demo, Final Fantasy XII and finally rounded it off with a screening of Berry Gordy’s “The Last Dragon” !
It certainly was one of the best camp outs I’ve been a part of!

i've never watched an employee video for game crazy but i did see the video on the internet. worst video ever. the game crazy video was lamer than the videos we had to watch when i got hired at albertsons in high school.
i shop at the gamestop in eastlake quite often. especially recently with all the promotions they've been having. it's the only gamestop i'll go to because it is the cleanest, most organized, and they update their prices. i used to go to the one on broadway until i realized everyone who worked there (besides the two people i knew) were dumbasses. the people at the eastlake store are really nice... but like most non-eastlake chula vistians... i HATE going to eastlake for anything. i feel like im contributing to the overpriced homes and the fake rich people who are really just in debt but can't stop spending.

Oh yeah, you're right, the eastlake branch EB Lames is pretty good, much better than all the other chula vista EB/GS stores. And yes, that is the perfect description for Eastlake, I too also hate going over there. Oh yeah, how's the influx of school children in the afternoon over at your store? I also wanted to work for gamecrazy over the summer, but unfortunately I had some time conflicts so I couldn't. At least I didn't get to work under the poor management as you say. ugghh the after school kids. it was really bad at first. the people who worked there let them do whatever they wanted. when i started working there i kind of figured out who actually bought stuff and who just came in to play madden for an hour until their mom picked them up. right away i'll throw a time limit at the kids and they're cool with it. like, they fuckin know they're not buying anything so they were cool with me telling them to go after a quick game of madden. funny thing is, after i started doing it, kids don't really hang around there as much as they did the first week i was there. 98% of the kids are totally cool though. some can be real shitheads... but whatever.
i HATE her too. honestly, i ONLY worked with her twice before she transfered, and i fucking hate her. i know i said i wouldn't get into details... but fuck it... you seem to hate her as much as i do. reasons i hate her...
one: she makes people believe her lies. she claims she produced the most numbers (mvps, pre orders, warranties) for the store when the store was getting like one mvp a week (this is below bad) for the past few months. she claims that at other stores she would get 9 mvps a day (impossible, even during busy days, at any game crazy down here). the thing is, no one has ever seen her do this. she basically tells someone she did it and they believe her and tell other people. it becomes an urban legend of some sort. haha.
two: she doesn't do ANYTHING. my manager gave her and this other dude some tasks do one day when they worked alone. the next day she claimed the other guy didn't do shit (to try and get him in toruble) and she did all the work. so my manager, while kind of upset with this guy not doing his work, decided he would see what went on by viewing the tapes from the day before. guess who was doing ALL the work? not fat emo girl, no way, she was leaning over the counter talking to her fat friend for a couple of hours.
three: she's a fat emo girl who blasts shitty music while she is working. that's all she does. the other girl who still works there does that too. i came in to work and just heard evenesence, or whatever that homosexual ass shit is, blasting for at least an hour. i wanted to say something, but im not any higher than her, she really wouldn't have to listen to me.
oh yeah. FEG (fat emo girl) is prego. may i be the first to say WOW and what man would torture themself like that??? than again, she might have just made it up for attention.

Glad she's gone. I think I'll go back to that GameCrazy.

10-31-2006, 07:40 AM
Man every time I went into that GC, that fuckin FEG would just be playing her damn Genesis all day ignoring everyone in the store unless you went right up to her face and said, "excuse me." She'd keep on bragging about how cool her Genesis was and that it still worked while explaining why everyone should be playing the game she's playing. You could literally go in there and steal a few cases and booklets (or cheap games) you guys had out on the floor and she wouldn't have noticed it (probably hop over the register and get some 360 games for that matter). I mean, that's how sucked into that damn Genesis she was into. Then she was talking to me about ROTC, while all the time I was thinking, "BS you're not in ROTC, I don't even think you can run 1/2 a mile."
In addition, when I bought DQ8 over there a while back I asked for a sealed one, and she picks the one in the back (which she knew was already opened already) which I thought was sealed. I didn't notice it until I was in the car, so I went inside again to switch it out, and she gave me some BS excuse and accused me of opening it already. At this time, I was already pissed at having to stare at her, and I got into a heated argument with her and pointed out that she was lying like an idiot because I saw her go for that specific one. Now I don't really care if it's opened, but if I asked for one that's sealed (since I paid MSRP) and it's right in front of me but she gives me an ass copy with a big fat dent in the back, and then accuses me of trying to swap in a used copy when I LITERALLY walked out and walked back in (total of 20 seconds) she just put me over my boiling point. I never went back to that store after that, except to get my pre-order of the Wii back from last December.
It sounds mean, but she screwed myself as well as a couple of my friends on some recent price drops (not to mention just bad service all around) just so she could hide it in the back and buy it herself (but I guess you could do that since she works there, but she did it so blantantly). I could go on and on, but it'll piss me off even more.

believe me, the store's alot better now. if you see a bald mexican dude working, that's me. let me know you're from cag if you come in. if you see a black dude, that's my manager, he's chill too. the other two people who work there are kind of whatever but i geuss they can be nice.
just don't go shop at the college store. FEG works there now. im sorry she fucked you guys over. what's funny is she pulled the same shit to my manager before she knew he was gonna run the store. he went in as a customer to evaluate the store and she rolled her eyes and barely tried to help him when he had questions.

I'll make sure to pay her a visit next time.:boxing: She'll probably remember my face because of the disagreement we had last time I saw her. I find it quite funny that we have a acronymn for her fat ass now.
I'll stop by and say what's up if I see a bald mexican guy that's named Ricky.

i just wear a wii lanyard that says "rick". i fucking hate FEG. the new manager at the college store is a cool guy and will soon realize how big of a piece of shit she is.

not fat emo girl, no way, she was leaning over the counter talking to her fat friend for a couple of hours.
three: she's a fat emo girl who blasts shitty music while she is working. that's all she does. the other girl who still works there does that too. i came in to work and just heard evenesence, or whatever that homosexual ass shit is, blasting for at least an hour. i wanted to say something, but im not any higher than her, she really wouldn't have to listen to me.
oh yeah. FEG (fat emo girl) is prego. may i be the first to say WOW and what man would torture themself like that??? than again, she might have just made it up for attention.
HAHAHA
wow thats classic

by prego, do you mean pregnant? If so I am shocked... And sorry for that "unlucky" guy... But if you meant Prego Italian Sauce, that would make much more sense, haha.
So has anyone seen if there were any Best Buys that broke the GH2 street date? or has it already come out universally? I'm tempted to pick this game up but I'm dead broke.
