Man, I know Plaza Blvd all too well, haha. Royal Mandarin definitely has the best Pepper Chicken Wings in San Diego, yeah after a while, they're not good, just stale as hell. I also usually order chow mein and the fried squiad which is also the bomb. But on of my favoritest Chinese dishes on Plaza blvd has to come from this Chinese food store behind Conching's and in the same area as Manila Tokyo [eww, i dislike that place]. They have these deep fried crabs. It's basically a crab cut into fourths that is deep fried. Oh man, is it hard to eat, but it taste so damn good.

GS on plaza was where I got their last Tekken stick too, man, Plaza Blvd is the best.

i don't think anyone is really doing a midnight release. based on my video game retail expertise (lol), i have noticed gears of war is not a street dated title. which means no one should have it before the 8th. it ships on the 7th, stores get it the morning of the 8th.

im sure there might be stores out there doing a midnight release. im just not sure how they're getting the game before everyone else.

EDIT: it's not street dated BUT game crazy stores are getting a special delivery to have it on the 7th. so maybe gamestop is doing the same thing?

the game is fucking amazing. i just spent 3 hours just on the multiplayer versus. the game is definetly more about taking cover and finding a way to move in on your oppenent. if you run and gun... you're dead.

Best Buy looks okay, but nothing really in interest or within my spending range.

It says it's compatible. I heard that third party guitars weren't compatible. I haven't done the research, so I can't say for sure if it works with Guitar Hero 2 or not.

yep. that pretty sums up BF. even when you get a deal, you're still buying sh*t. i mean yeah, every once in a while you land a decent deal on some up-to-date, name-brand stuff, but usually, people are in a hot sweat to buy up 80GB IDE drives, off-brand 8x DVD-Rs and Shakanui (or whatever) DVD players. even the computers they sell boast decent numbers but CRAPPY internals (like big harddrives with horrible buffer/access times, "fast" processors with a weak cache, cheap optical drives, inferior power supplies, noisy fans, etc...).

and then there's the lame DVD deals. it seems like this year, (normally priced) 9.99 DVDs are 6.99. whoopee. i guess BF works well for loading up on gifts, but i'd rather spend more, buy some nicer things and avoid the lines.

and of course, we all know the worst part: back in the day, you used to just get a plain-old killer deal, without any requirements beyond getting up at the crack of dawn and having money. now, that $30 hard drive is actually gonna cost you $120 in-store; you gotta send away a freaking rebate to get your ducats back!! don't forget to copy everything, make backups of your files, and triple-check the postmark date, lest you get shafted on every last item. and we pay them for the pleasure??? sick.

having said all that, i do usually like to shop at stores at around 10am on BF, after the "door busters" are gone, and just walk around and check out the mess and the noise & bustle.

it's a great game, and the best-looking i've ever seen (including PC games), but the shaky-camera thing sucks. i wish they'd let you turn it off. i get motion-sickness even without it, depending on the game, and this one had my stomach churning in just a few minutes. but i guess i'll play thru the pain -- it took me months, but i can play Halo 2 now and not succumb to motion sickness. when i first picked i up, i couldn't play for more than 10 minutes without getting dizzy.

I didn't want to make this a new thread, since I wanted to keep it lowkey, but I just got done talking to the manager at my local EB and he was confused why I didn't pre-order a Wii at his store. I got in on the Amazon deal, so hopefully they will come through for me. He also dropped me a line that there will be an extra shipment of Wiis for two select EB/GS stores within the same mall (Westfield shopping mall to be exact). Nintendo is officially sponsoring this mall during launch day and both stores will get a shipment of 100 Wiis each, for a total of 200 in one mall. This is including pre-orders, so most likely there will be around 70 extra (per store depending on how many pre-orders were made) or so for people to buy on launch day who didn't get to pre-order. Also the extra shipment WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE TO PRE-ORDER. I don't know the exact details, so I would advise you guys calling these stores in advance.

No idea as to how many people know of this information by now, but I'm betting not too many people know of this yet. Forgive me if this turns out to be just a rumor. Just wanted to give you guys first crack at this.

I called gamestop yesterday and they said I wouldn't be able to get a preorder since I'm number 9 and they are only getting 8.

Gamestop called earlier today around 3pm and told me that I had a preorder available to pick up on Friday.

Just now, I read through this entire thread. Then I wrote out how I'm going to make my eBay BIN description and settings.

Then I checked my phone and noticed that Gamestop called. They left a voice mail, and I check it to hear the store manager's message that they made a mistake and that I'd have to wait until next month.

Now I'm just sad. At least I don't have to deal with picking the ps3, worrying about being scammed, and any other pressure that I felt for the past 6 hours.

Here's the situation. El Cajon(San Diego) Best Buy is to receive 134 PS3s. Forty 60GB and ninety-four 20GB PLAYSTATION 3s. The mall security made it clear that they would set up a line up area and at around midnight they will make the call for people to start lining up. It would just be a mad dash to the line. No one was allowed to run under the security tape or jump over the barricade or they would get kicked out of the property. Sounds simple? I guess. But... Didn't sound too smart.

Around 8 PM there were at least 100 people outside of Best Buy already waiting in the parking lot, in their cars. The Westfield security announced that when Best Buy closes at 10 PM that everyone had to be inside their vehicle or be escorted off the property.

Random tidbit: some lady had a 15 seater van filled with illegal immigrants and homeless people that she PAID to run to where the line would start at 12 midnight. lol. They were getting harassed left and right.

Anyways. People started getting rowdy. The crowd quickly turned into 200+ people by 11:30. At around 11:40 PM the crowd was honking their horn and causing disturbances in the parking lot. The head lady who was in charge of security for Westfield went in one of the security vehicles to check out what was going on in the other side of the lot. She stated before she got in the car "EVERYONE STAY PUT IN YOUR CARS, DON'T MOVE!"

As soon as she left. Some girl in a red sweater started running towards Best Buy. And then everyone else followed suit. So twenty minutes early, over 200 people started running towards the entrance of Best Buy.

Wow. Motherfuckers started tramplin' over each other. People were on the floor checking if they were bleeding and there were people pushing each other. I'm suprised that a riot didn't break out then and there. The security guys were scared shitless and were getting heckled all night. No one cared about the security tape or the barricade. It was actually ripped apart and there was no line, just a mob at the door.

Some idiot thought it would be a great idea to form another line on the opposite side of the entrance. So now there were TWO lines forming near the same door + a mob in the middle in front of the entrance. This was not good. And it wasn't even midnight.

Security didn't do anything.

El Cajon Police Department didn't do anything.

They just said to let the "people handle it themeslves"...

What the heck? So at around 1:30 AM a Best Buy rep comes out and tells the people how they are going to line up. So he comes out and tells everyone on the left side(The fake line) that they're screwed, they disperse and just cut in front of the right side(the original line) and pretty much everyone is fucked.

They started hand picking people that weren't even in front of the line to form a new line.

Some annoying motherfucker who bragged about preordering 9 Nintendo Wii's and was bragging he got interviewed on TV, and WASN'T even in line anymore got to the front.

So he wasn't sure if he should stay or not...but then I convinced him to come with me to Mira Mesa Best Buy where people weren't supposed to line up until 12am, but there was already a hundred people by 9pm, it was crazy with people making 2-3 lines and everybody arguing about who was in the right line. Yeah me and my group of friends took up the 7 out of 8 systems starting on Tuesday. That was our poker table, I don't play poker though. There were a lot of random numbers that employees were throwing around, but it was confirmed that there were 8 systems total, 6 60GB and 2 20GB.

It went pretty smooth until some asian chick comes into the line and notices that 2 of my friends were out of the line, they went to get food at McDonalds which is literally within viewing distance (within 200 feet of the Wal-Mart itself) and she said that they lost their places and she should be moved up. Ever since then, there HAD to be seven bodies in line for us in our group at all times. Hell, last year at the Xbox 360 launch, people would get to be good friends with each other and let people get out of line for brief moments to get food, go home for things, etc but this bitch didn't even let us go INSIDE the Wal-Mart to get shit.

When I had my phone stolen, I went to file a police report and that took me a couple of hours and she literally threw a fit while I was gone and I was already pissed off enough from having my phone stolen.

The weather was alright, it was REALLY foggy at times and on Tuesday/Friday it got really cold in the morning, but it was bearable. The noise was horrible though next to the 805 freeway, but I still managed to grab a couple hours of sleep, but I ended staying up ever since my phone got stolen.

Even though there were 8 systems, they still gave out 10 vouchers for the next PS3 shipment (which I don't know the date of, sorry), so they would be guaranteed the PS3's in the next shipment as long as they have the voucher.

I decided to go to the CC at La Mesa. I went at 7pm to be 9th in line out of a total 21 consoles. The line didn't fill up until around midnight or so. The bad thing was that I didn't get a Classic Controller and the Wii Points I wanted.

The good thing was that the $40 off coupon worked, and I saved more money on the games and remote/nunchuk.

I believe that you have to buy a LAN adapter in order to use a wired internet connection with the Wii.

It'd probably be best/cheapest to just buy a wireless router and use that. My Wii set its internet connection flawlessly. It was nice for a change.

FYI. I believe this was said on Kotaku.com but most retailers (including game crazy) got a letter stating that Nintendo has not produced enough nunchuk controllers so there WILL be shortage probably for a month or so. GOOD LUCK!

got my Wii at SEARS in Chula Vista. they had 10. i was 4, my brother was 5, my pal Jorge was 6. we were quite pleased. we only had to wait in line a little over an hour, and we played our DS systems the whole time, so it was smooth. i got Zelda and a classic controller. the store only had 3 remotes and 1 nunchuck (!!!), all of which were gone by the time i got up to the register (they rang us up in order).

we played Wii for about 12 hours yesterday. this thing is wayyy fun.

Oh, my bad, I thought you were talking about a TV monitor, but that deal is damn good. CRTs are just too clunky these days, definitely go for the monitor if you can. I'd prolly go for it too, but I already bought a comp and monitor recently. I hope Fry's has some kind of deal on a Cable modem, I desperately need a cheap one for both me and my mother's office.

Just got back from Fry's and Las Americas outlets. I got there at 3:30am, the line was all the way around the building.

But I was still able to get the x2 4200+ and gigabyte matx mobo for $220. Great day for me.

I went to BB without reading your post at 4:30, just chilled at the entrance near the Channel 933 kiosk till they opened, and then rushed in there along with the pushing and shoving crowd into the store and I found my Samsung 19" WS LCD monitor. I'm about to open it and hook it up.

So I woke up at 4:15 in the morning to go buy a Samsung 19" LCD WS monitor and a Motorola Bluetooth headset that I'll use for the PS3. Pretty good IMO :)

Oh yeah, then headed over to Fry's which was insane. The lines were too long to deal with so I just went home and got 3 more hours of sleep to add onto my 4 hours I had before :)

I was reading this thread about someone trading their PS3 for a supposed Lifetime supply of Taco Bell, and the OP VanillaGorilla mentioned Chili Cheese Burritos. I also recall this fabled Burrito as a favorite in the Taco Bell appreciation thread a while back. Anyhow my question is, does this tasty sounding burrito exist anywhere in the greater San Diego area? I am fairly sure the two locations closest to my house do not make them (Both on H. St in Chula Vista). Help me SD Cags!

Nice. I wanted to just cut in line and there are no rules about cutting, but I hate cutters and decided not to do it.

And yeah, the Chargers are the shit. Just seven games left. I hope they can end up 14-2. With the way they're playing now, I don't see why they couldn't.

Fuck they have to stop giving me heart attacks. The Chargers better pick it up (earlier in the game) towards the end of the season and into the playoffs because with the way they start their games, they might not even get past the first round. Yes it's obvious that we're missing key players due to injuries/suspension, but they were lucky ("illegal forward pass") enough to even beat the Raiders today; it was pitiful.

Whew, what a weekend. I spent so much crap online, especially on DVDs and graphic novels. Amazingly, I didn't even bother with games and computer hardware this time around. Managed to get a small handfull of threads, but I'm very satisfied. btw, actually went to Las Americas around 12 midnight, big mistake... twas flooded with traffic and people and deals weren't spectacular. I ended up just buying shoes for my sister and she went back later in the day to do my shopping... excellent...

Now... back to the same ol', same ol'. Oh, and how was everyone else's weekend?

Oh man, Taco Bell, I live for that stuff. Right now I'm just hooked on those Spicy Chicken Burritos, plus those caramel empanadas are like an orgy in my mouth. Sorry, don't quite remember those chilitos. Used to be hooked on those 1/2lb. Beef&PO-TA-TOE-S Burritos, but now they just don't compare. Taco Bell Value Menu has gotta be the greatest.

Okay, I searched around. Everyone check Wal-Mart. They restocked late last night/today. I saw about 10 Wii Remotes for sale at the Wal-Mart on Highland Ave. Not the one next to Best Buy, the one down more in National City.

No luck on Nunchucks or Wii Classic Controllers though. :(

Over the weekend and today I bought a x2 4200+, gigabyte mobo, 1gb kingston ram, sata ii cables, natural born killers, munich, pirates of the caribbean, and march of the penguins. I would have bought more, but I'm dead broke right now.

I just applied for another credit card to pay off the ps3 I SHOULD be getting from gamestop in december. Then I'm going to use the profits off the ps3 to pay off my $1,000 debt on my other credit card.
