http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showpost.php?p=2701423&postcount=75 I was there at opening too. Didn't recognize you, I know I sold you Disgaea 2 a while back.
I saw a copy of Street Fighter Anniversary Collection for the Xbox, but decided not to buy it. Also saw a copy of Killer 7 (with a $1.99 price label on the shelf), but didn't want it. Didn't end up getting anything.

Mission Valley BB was a complete bust. I saw about 3 FW guys with big-assed lists, most of them walked out with 1-2 games each. We were there at opening. Not even a bin in an aisle somewhere. Hell, nothing stashed in the washing machines. Nothing from my small 7-game list.

Didn't recognize you either, but then again, I've never been great with faces. Thanks for leaving the Killer 7, btw. I picked it up (one of the few games I really wanted). I definitely remember the Disgaea 2 sale though. Speaking of which, I never heard back about Disgaea 1, so I assume you found it?
As for other San Diego stores, this is what I've gathered from various threads/people.
El Cajon- cleaned out days ago
Santee- cleaned out days ago
Mission Valley- cleaned out this morning
Mira Mesa- Might be a couple random games left, but doubt it.
Chula Vista- total wash (thanks dios)
Escondido- ??
Carlsbad/Oceanside- ??
Temecula- ?? (probably the best chance at getting anything if my past experiences are any indication)

I went to CUSA today, didn't see PS3 stuff. Though to be honest, I wasn't looking. They had no gamecube stuff at all -- XBox 360s, and 360/XBox/PS2/Wii software.
Their stuff's still pricey at 10-20% off. I'm gonna hang on a bit longer.

Stopped by there yesterday just to check out what they had. I didn't see any PS3's or 360's (they still had the demo 360 though, so maybe they've got 360's in the back??) and all the games for the different systems were $30+ and then 10% off. Not exactly a deal. Hell of a lot of people though.

You guys are amazing. There are so many games out right now already. Between the three systems, I'm swamped. I'm slowly playing through Resistance, Crackdown and a Greatest Hits version of RE4 for the PS2. I need to get SSX for the Wii and God of War 2 for the PS2 in the next couple of weeks. As much as I'd love to get GRAW 2 for $35.00, I've just got to draw the line somewhere. I still never finished Rainbow Six: Vegas or Gears...and I'm having to share the PS3 and TV w/ my wife who is playing through FF12...oh yeah, I need to get back to Prey (I found the sweet limited edition at CompUSA for $30) and my $10 copy of Ridge Racer 6...

I stopped by the Grossmont CompUSA today. Games and accessories are still only 10% off. There were a few manager's specials for some 360 games, but they weren't really all that great -- just a couple of bucks off a few older titles. I'm going to wait to make any purchases until 30% off. Anyone know when the next round of discounts will occur?

eh... not much of a change. The bolt on the shoulder is gay. I like the helmet and pants. Nothing else really noticeable. I'm not sure whether I like the powder blue being an official uniform color now as opposed to a throwback color. I like it for nostalgic reasons and yet I think it's an ugly ass color on a bunch of guys.

i tend to buy them from local places when a "slammin' deal" shows up. i'll buy more than i need and then just stock-pile them so i don't have to pay full price later in a pinch.
CC, BB, Office Depot and Staples are my usual sources for DVDr discs.

I've had all three of the Angus burgers. They're pretty solid. I'd definitely say they are better than BK and Jack's comparable versions. I haven't had a $6 burger in a while so I can't say if it's better than Carl's. However, they suffer from having too much pepper/salt. (Like Jack's and Carl's). It's a nice change of pace for McD's, but I'd still rather have a Big Mac or Quarter Pounder.

I had the bacon version today and thought it was terrible. I couldnt figure out why they even sold it.

i didn't want McD's, but my brother and friend wanted to use the coupons they had for them, so we went. we each orderd the Bacon n' Cheese burger and they each came with free medium fries and drink. of course McD's forgot one of the fries (like almost always).
the burger was okay, but really not worth 4 bucks. hindsight being 20-20, i'd've rather had a Six Dollar Burger over this thing. the rest of the country ain't missin' much.

for some reason, of the big 3 sports in the US (baseball, basketball, football), baseball is the only one i can stand to watch.
Recently baseball moved its way up to #2. I quit watching it completely when they went on strike in 1994, and didn't even so much as watch a game on TV for almost 11 years. Went to a Padres game in August 2005 to finally end my boycott. Pads lost 5-3 (or was it 5-2?) to the Colorado Rockies.
That was also the first MLB game I ever saw live in a stadium.
Football has always been #1 in my book. :)

Football is my sport, but I'm a huge, huge sports fan. For the past few years, I lost interest in basketball and slightly lost interest in baseball (except for the playoffs where we've been murdered for the past two years by the cardnials), but this year I've gotten back into basketball and baseball and I'm trying to watch games when I can.
I'm actually going to the Lakers game this Sunday when they play the Suns. Good game.
I'm also checking baseball tickets on eBay constantly to see when I can get a good deal and I'll be going to a few of the 2 for 1 Thursdays.
As for today's game, the Padres are 2-0 to start the season. Doing great so far, but there are still 160 games left.

well I'd figure that since san diego is a military town, there is probably many here that can or knows someone who has access to purchase stuff at the exchange.
I just got a sales flier in the mail from the MCX advertising a premium xbox 360 at $299. So me and my pops went down to the miramar exchange to pick one up but the sales associate pointed at the date of April 11-22, foolish of us not to notice the date haha. But anyway, seems like a great deal for a premium and of course no tax!
and on a side note, miramar has two PS3s in stock, each bundled with free HDMI cords

I lurve the exchange (when I do choose to go there, of course). I picked up a 2GB nano and the nike+ sport kit for $160. I'm going to have to go there more often because my ID is going to expire soon (when I turn 23).
BTW, the new Comissary on 32nd is going to open on 4/20. Man, I remember when they first opened up the current one years ago and now they've already built a new one and opening that.

A premium 360 for $299 is the best deal I've ever seen for a 360.
I used to go on base at Miramar a lot in the past. Buying gas, buying cigarettes, buying groceries, buying stuff at the exchange. What a luxury.
Too bad everybody who had ID is over 23 now so I can't get on anymore, and everyone that joined the military got stationed somewhere else. Hard for me to go now.

So I went to the "World's Largest Commissary" earlier today. I went around 2:20ish and it was mad packed. At least it was pretty busy for a Monday afternoon, but I guess it's expected since it's only been a couple days since it opened.
It's like they gutted a Costco and stuck a Commissary inside. All shelf tags (even those in the freezer sections), except the fresh produce, have been replaced with LCD tags, so that was a nice touch. I know that they've been used in other places, but this is the first time I saw them in SD. Let me know if there are any other places in SD that use them.
Two entrances: one for main shoppers and another on the other side for "grab-n-go" shopping. There's a cooking lession station in Produce. The layout of the store itself is pretty familiar. It's laid out just like the old one but backwards, if you get what I mean. Instead of starting out on the right side of the store and making your way left (if you're facing it), you enter on the left and make your way to the right.

Hey guys, long time no see. Haha, still talking about food I see.
I have a story to tell about Cotixan's (specifically the one on Terra Nova). For those with weak stomachs, please do not read.
Well... I ordered a Coxington's Lunch Burrito (basically a breakfast burrito with meat)... to go. I was starving and immediately took out the burrito. I took a couple bites, then on the third or fourth there was a distinct crunch. And it so happened to be a bit of an egg shell. I thought, hmm prolly just 1, no matter. Then I took another bite and so happens to be the same thing. After closer inspection I found several large pieces of egg shells, about the size of my fingernail wedged inside along with the egg. And to top it off, there was two eyelashes embedded in the cheese. I was thinking "fuck this" and promptly threw it in the trash and rinsed my mouth with water. Either someone was new, or someone was playing a joke. Either way, I will never eat at Coxington's again. (couple weeks later ordered again... thankfully no eggshells or eyelashes).
Haven't been here for a while, and unfortunately haven't gotten much play time out of my DS. I also tried out the Puzzle Quest demo. After several hours I managed to pry myself away from it's tempting gameplay. Hopefully, or rather not, places around here would restock on that game. I was thinking either that or Pokemon (I do love 'em Pocket Monsters).
I also thought I'd have a Wii by now, and by looking at previous posts, they seems very scarce as well. But so far none of the games spark my interest. I'm just going to wait until there's a good game, and I mean a really "good" game for the wii.
end rant.

You're right about it needing games.. that's why I didn't buy one. I thought about it, and the Wii sports games seem kind of lame after a while, and the only game I would buy is Zelda.
I thought of what kind of games that would be made in the future for the Wii, and really think there won't be anything worth it for me.
And I'm buying a Steakhouse Double Melt for dinner tonight. I love swiss and mushroom burgers. Take a look at this shit..

Yeah, that's exactly why I didn't get one in the first place. Even my college friends kept asking if I was getting one. And here we are months later still with no Wii in sight. They got over it pretty fast I'd say. Although I admit to having fun back during the Holday season at my friend's house playing the Wii, I think I would've had more fun playing "real" boxing and getting beat up badly instead of the unresponsive Wii boxing. If I were you and could get my money back, I would do so. But that's just me. My DS gives more than enough good company. However I still own a ps2 and haven't even touched the next generation yet, but I feel content so far.

I just bought Paper Mario yesterday. It's not bad. It's not your average Mario game and it definitely isn't particularly hard so far. However, it seems pretty solid and is enjoyable to just sit down and play. In fact, my wife has taken over the Wii tonight because she thought it looked cool.
I'm defnitely glad I have a Wii, but I've now had it for several months and have really only played Zelda, rented a couple of o.k. games, and just bought Mario (oh yeah, I have Trauma Center for the wife, but that doesn't count). Then again, the same goes for the PS3. I only have Resistance. I've actually spent way more time playing God of War 2 on it than any PS3 game.
By the way, the eye lash and egg burrito story was pretty nasty.

Hate to burst your bubble but Costco's return policy have changed on certain electronics such as iPods, TV's, LCD monitors, etc. (but not games). They now only have a 90 day return policy, so once it's past 90 days you have to keep it. But they are good because they basically help knock off the tax plus you can return it anytime within those 90 days.

Yeah, I can pretty much eat anything myself. What keeps me from growing into the marshmallow man is just moderation. And this varies with everyone. Some people are blessed with high metabolism throughout most of their life, some are not. Yummy, thunder thighs. Anyways, I also think that some of those advertised diets were bogus. Especially the Atkin's one. The less carbohydrates you take in, the less water you retain. It's just water lost from your muscle mass. The best "diet" I think is the plain old simple excercise and watching what you eat, according to your body's specifications.

He's not eating 5000 calories a day on purpose, that's just what's in the food he's getting. He's getting the shit that tastes good that we all get from there. I don't think his point was to show how much weight he gained that was just a small portion of his health problems. The fact that his liver was fucked and he doubled his chances of heart disease was fucking astonishing. Sure he gained weight but we all knew he would. Like I said, that wasn't even half of his point.
I thought the movie was awesome. He didn't just eat McDonals for 30 days he interviewed doctors and normal fast food eaters for some facts and opinions.
Whether you get fat from fast food or not depends on your metabolism and exercise. Even if you stay skinny, you're still putting pure shit (good tasting shit) down your throat. But that kind of goes for any food that's quick and easy.

their cuts of meat always seem fattier (is that a word?). Da Kine's tends to use really nice, white chicken.
to be honest, i only ever order like 3 different things from Da Kine's, so i don't know how their portions are overall, but the "regular" order of the Chicken Katsu is two huge chicken filets (or whatever you call them), 2 portions of rice, and macaroni salad. i always end up having to finish it in two sittings.

You can easily do over 1200+ calories on one combo meal, I mean, depending on the meal. Think about it, one McMuffin combo, a quarter pounder combo, and maybe a big n tasy or some shit for dinner. That's not on purpose. He's eating what people always eat. No one goes to McDonalds for a salad and a glass of water.I'd have to watch it again. From what I remember, he would FORCE himself to eat even when he was full. And from what I remember, he didn't just get single combo meals, he got a little more--and that was from every meal.
Plus, my girl goes to McDonalds (and other places) for just a salad and water. So don't assume that nobody goes to McDonalds and wants to eat light...

I love L&L's chicken katsu, but it does seem a little on the fatty side. Where is Da Kines? I've never heard of it. (I'm in La Mesa). L&L is the best place for the usual fast food experience.
Da Kines is more of a sit down restaurant with a nice atmosphere, but the portions are way smaller for about the same price or more than L&L (which is why I don't there). I only tried the hamburger steak and chicken katsu, which looks and tastes pretty much the same everywhere else, but the macaroni salad is the only difference I saw from L&L and Da Kitchen. It's in Mira Mesa next to Target. Wider range of food to choose from.
Da Kitchen is in Scripps right off of Carrol Canyon Rd. on the 15. It's right next to Carls Jr. Their portions are similar to L&L but a slightly higher price. It is a nicer place to eat. There is a much wider range of food to choose from. Probably everybody's favorite restaurant when it comes to eating at a nicer sit down hawaiian place.

Craig Davis' nickname is Buster.
confusing since another players actual name is buster davis.
well see how our davis works out. if he can stretch the d and give another deep threat it should help safetys from automatically rolling over to gates.
which would be awesome, even though he made half those long plays doubled up.
im very excited for this season, it should be an interesting one.

Dude seriously, when I've gone on my "no fast food at all" rampages and then 4 months later eat a big mac or something... I feel like dying. It's not a good feeling AT ALL. Maybe I'm alone on that, I don't know. Last time I went about 2 months without any fast food or just nasty ass foods in general, then I went out of town, went to Jack in the Box because it was close and the only thing open at midnight, bought a jumbo jack and two tacos... Puked it up in the hotel about 20 minutes later. From what I remember Spurlock was pretty much vegan because his wife was. Imagine going from salads and tofu to a Quarter Pounder in a day. I'm sure your stomach will hate you.
I always give in to shitty fast food though. It's good as fuck in a very sick way.

Yeah, I can understand that. To me, hamburgers are a necessary evil.
Although, I can't say that I have gone on a fast food diet for a very long time. But when I was a kid, trying hamburgers for the first time, I couldn't handle them. But now... it's a different story.

I got to meet Snoop Dogg:-k last year (of all places), saw Samuel L. Jackson run by, walked past Rosario Dawson, and was able to snag a bunch of free stuff. But man did it stink in some areas.

Yeah, I'll probably go again. I really want to go on the the least populated day possible.Yeah it was packed on Fri/Sat. You had to literally push people to walk around the exhibit hall. The cool thing was that last year, there was a good amount of video game related stuff than there ever was. Hopefully it'll have even more.
Definitely. Nintendo had a cool stylish booth but I didn't get any swag. Got a memory stick though, even though I don't even have a PSP.

The least crowded days are probably Thursday and Sunday. Sunday is great for buying crap because you get some cool deals if you haggle enough. Vendors would rather sell off everything they have than have to schlep or ship it back home.
Friday and Saturday are always the busiest days since that's when the major celebs come to pimp their films. If you're 21 and up, I suggest hitting some of the bars & clubs in the Gaslamp at night because some of the celebs are known to hang out there after hours. I remember Elijah Wood was at the Yardhouse one year. Just don't go walking in with your giant Tokyopop bag.
What games do you guys think Ninty is going to demo this year? I remember you could play Twilight Princess for the Gamecube last year if you waited in line long enough. Maybe we'll see some Mario Galaxy action? Square will probably at least bring video of FFXIII and Sony should have some PS3 action happening. They might even have some Eye of Judgment going on since SDCC likes to hold all of those card tournaments.
As for the stank odor in the air... Uh, bring one of those car air fresheners that you hang on your rear view mirror and put it around your neck? It's like that Simpsons ep where Marge makes all of the kids wear flea collars because it's just easier that way. SDCC should really get Axe or Tag to be like a sponsor so they hand out trial sizes in the freebie bag when you get your pass. It gets really nasty down in the showroom. I swear, it smelled like vomit everywhere you went. I don't know how all of these hotel rooms get booked completely during the first few hours that registration is open for SDCC dates and yet, everyone still seems to smell like ass.
Saturday is going to be my busiest day. I'm probably going to spend most of the day in Ballroom 20 for the big TV/movie panels then there's Masquerade at night.

The 1989 Batman was great. Jack Nicholson is just so awesome in that one. Batman Begins was pretty good, but not quite up to par with the original. I am anxious for the next one to come out.

Spiderman 3 tried to cram like 6 different stories into one. That was the only downside. All the stories seemed incomplete. They tried covering all these stories in to two hours...
The Harry vs. Peter thing
Sandman
Eddie Brock/Venom
MJ and Peter
Gwen and Peter
Spidey and Symbiote
They didn't explain where the symbiote came from and only kind of said what it was. The Eddie Brock and Sandman stuff was completely out of nowhere as far as Sandman's back story and Eddie vs Peter at the Bugle. Like, What disease did Sandman's daughter have? Sure he needed money but if she had AIDS (just being a dick) or some shit then that money aint gonna help.
Spidey had the symbiote suit for like what... Ten minutes of the entire movie?
It just felt like there were way too many holes.

The online scene wouldn't be for me either, that "I slept with your mom and your ancestors from 1000 years ago" talk just gives me headaches.

Hmm, am I the only one who still doesn't own a next-gen system? I'm still just skeptical about all the systems right now, and there aren't really any games that seem to fit what I'm into. I just haven't seen any system selling games, though from what people say about halo 3, it could change. However, I only had fun playing Halo with friends and yelling at each other threatening to buck futt them after owning em at deathmatch. if the beta is as good an idication as i think it is, halo 3 is substantially better than 2. the " gimmicks" are improvments, and good ones.

Yeah, so far the beta has been pretty fun. The graphics are a nice upgrade and there are some cool, new features. I'm glad the assault rifle is back and the shotgun seems a little more powerful than usual. The new spike grenades are pretty cool...although I wish they had more throwing distance.

Anyone go to the Mudd Club arcade in north county near Nickel City? I'm reading about it right now. Looks pretty cool. I'm thinking about checking it out next weekend.
Since MarkMan mentioned evo being downtown, I decided to play some CvS2. Got my ass beat by someone at Nickel City on Friday, but I suck badly on arcade stick and only do 50%-75% of what I can do on a controller. I just don't have the quickness and familiarity on an arcade stick the way I do with a controller.
Edit: I read that it isn't popular because prices are too high. Oh well. But I'll be going to Nickel City at least once a month now when I have nothing to do on weekends.

Haven't been to an arcade in a while. Is Initial D still big? My friend was so addicted to that game, it just wasn't funny. Had a racing gang and everything...

i got together with some buddies for our 4-times-a-year (or so) Halo gathering. we played the Beta for about an hour, and then went back to Halo 2 for the next 6 hours.
it was fun, but didn't look very next-gen and the limited customization sent us back to the oldy. i'm sure we'll upgrade when the full version is available, but the Beta just didn't give me (or us) enough incentive to play it for very long.
it ran silky-smooth, though.

Hey guys, I need opinions. Is it a prime time to get a wii this memorial day weekend?
And is the $40 off $200 coupon still in effect? and does it still apply to the Wii?
As for my interest in the system. Right now I'm not interested in any of the current Wii games. The only two games I would most likely be interested in is Smash Bros. and maybe Pokemon Battle Revo.
Should I get the wii this weekend? or is there nothing to worry about?
EDIT: Bleh, nvm, the coupon does not apply to consoles.

Just got a letter in the mail today from GameCrazy.
Looks like the store on East H St. is closing in the near future. If you guys have any credit at that store make sure to do something with it since the credit doesn't carry over to other stores. Sad to see the store go, but as someone who used to work there, it was really only a matter of time before that store closed down.
I'll probably go down there today or tomorrow to see if there is anything worth picking up with my credit. I'll also update with an exact last day of business if possible, unless someone finds out before me.

Yeah, I've noticed quite a few GameCrazy closings recently. The one on Mira Mesa Blvd closed about a year ago. There's one by SDSU that just closed in the last couple of months. Apparently the one in Escondido is closing as well. There are still a bunch of them around (I have 3 of them here in El Cajon, all within 5 mins of my house), but it seems like they are slowly going the way of the dodo bird.

it would help if they were marginally organized. especially the one in national city, yard sales are organized better.
sucks , cause their pricing is better than eb/gs

Hey guys,
My little bro is going to SDSU and is moving out of the dorms for the next year. He needs to get a good mattress for cheap. Any suggestions? I figured I'd send him up to Miramar Road for a good deal. Anyone know of anywhere better than that or a specific store? He needs delivery to his Mission Valley apartment.
On a videogame note, Odin Sphere is fantastic. Anyone looking for a sweet side-scrolling action RPG should go for it....and it runs fine on the PS3!

Yeah but I won't mind because if you compare the things you do at Sea World to the things you do in retail the difference is so much. It's like getting paid $9.00 to do a lot or get paid $7.50 or however much to do a lot less (like standing around until someone shows up and such). I rather take the $7.50 and do less lol.

I know that it's been around since the beginning of March and what not, but I just went to Yogurt World in Kearny Mesa for the first time. I have to say that it was pretty awesome. I love the Asian Peach and Tart Mango. Here's a tip for everyone: Fill to the brim with frozen yogurt and then add the toppings. What was once $0.38/oz. seemed more like $3.00/oz.

Yeah, that's where it is.
It's $0.38/oz. This includes all flavors and toppings. You just pickup a styrofoam cup and fill it up to your heart's content with any combination of flavors. They're all self-serve machines.
You can also ask for sample cups to try any of the flavors. The toppings are all by the registers. They have everything from candy and cereal to fresh fruit and jellies. The flavors change every so often, as do the toppings I think. Then it's all weighed when you pay.

How much is usually a whole cup?
Also, how long do places usually call you for an interview after you turn in an application? Is it good to do a follow up on an application? At SeaWorld they scheduled me for an interview right when I turned it in.

On average, about $5 on the smaller cup.
As for the application process, it could be a few days or even a couple of weeks. It just depends on how many people applied, how many they need, and how soon they need them.

I just called a place I applied at to do a follow up on my application and the person that answered the phone took note of my name, availability, and phone number. She said she was gonna let - I assume the manager - know that I called. Coolio :)

Sorry man, but all I hear about those stores is how much you have to worry about preorder quotas and memberships and all that just to keep your job. You don't have to sell crap people don't want to keep your job at SeaWorld.
Although to be fair, the GSs and GCs I shop at seem pretty chill about that, so I don't know.

I doubt 2 games will give you $90 in credit, unless they are like new releases. I traded in Crackdown, THP8, and GR2 and got a total of $90 and some. So unless you trade in games worth $30 and giving them an extra $15 I highly doubt it. If I were you I'd check the trade value over the phone first.
And I've been following up on them a lot lately. Now it's waiting time lol.

Is Imperial Beach a nice or bad part of San Diego?
i used to live in IB. it's okay. some people think it's kinda scuzzy, and i suppose it might have been in the past, but the city seems to be making an effort lately to clean it up and make it a little classy. i prefer it to a lot of the other "beach towns", as most of the big ones are actually downright disgusting when a lot of people gather. IB tends to be quite low-key and most people there are friendly. relatively low-crime compared to most of SD county.

Even saw Paz9x at the PQ Gamecrazy. (btw, I got that whole situation cleared up)
Spent $150 on CC games.
Got $230 in credit.
Altogether (including trading in two other games that I already had), I got $278 in credit.
I still have two more games to flips, so I'll have about $340 in credit to spend on a new psp and partially on a wii.

I grew up in this part of San Diego (Harbor View, MVM, and SOH alum!) and I have to say that IB gets better once you go west of 9th street. Ever since their turnaround, everything has been on the up and up. Films have shot at the pier and HBO's John From Cincinatti (sic) is currently being shot there.
