control panel < administrative tools < computer management < storage < disk management < then just right-click on the disk drive you want to format , click format and that's it

Dude, it's the flipping OS drive! You can't format the the main C: drive like that. #-o
I'm assuming you want to reinstall XP anyways so just run the XP install and use the partition manager built in. Just delete the OS partition then recreate it and format. Problem solved.:bouncy:

More specifically, insert the Windows XP install cd in the drive, reboot, and hit the F key to go into your BIOS menu, usually F4. Look for the section that is called Boot Priority, and change the boot order to boot from the cd. Then hit save and exit. Your computer will load the cd instead, and booting up windows. This will allow you to do the format outside of Windows.

I alwas have the option to hit enter to go from the cd but all it ever does is let me repair the program.
