Interested in this game, is it worth buying if found under $20?

I'd give the game a "meh"

Character design is neat, the enemies seem borrowed (most of the enemies look like the skull monkeys from the ps1 game, and there is a monster ripped off from Half-Life too) It's a pretty fun action platformer.

However I have 2 big complaints - the camera acts like a first gen ps1 game - and the music is horribly inapropriate - it's very "Hip-Hop" styled music, it's not that it's bad, just doesn't fit.

For $20 or under I'd say grab it - anything more I'd recommend getting something else.

I grabbed it from Gamefly for a bit more than that after playing it, its work $25 at $19.99 it is a must.

Not what it was pumped up to be, but still fun.

It's like Ratchet and Clank, no more no less.

It's meh, kind of unique but the gameplay has been done many times before.

Overall, though, it is a fun game. Definitely worth $19.99.

For $20 its worth it. I picked it up for $20 at Frys a couple months back, and thought it was worth every penny.

The camera sucks balls, but it's a pretty fun game so far.

I'd have to agree with this statement. Most of the character models, and even the bare premise of the game seem taken from other gamers. For instance, the character model of the title character reminds me a lot of Tim Schafer's Grim Fandango.

The exact unflattering review snippet I remember reading was that "this game has a crush on Psychonauts."

Which certainly isn't a bad thing; if you're gonna imitate, go for one of the best.

There was a PS1 original?

No, what I was referring to is the PS1 game "Shull Monkeys" which is a fantastic platformer all done in claymation. It's just that the enemies in Death Jr. look just like the skull monkeys
