OK I put this in the deal request area, but maybe I will get more response here.
I am going to pick-up one of the following games Call of Duty 2 or FEAR or Quake 4 for PC at Worst Buy today. I have $40 on a gift card and I have the $10 off coupon.
Which one would you guys recommend?
I am steering towards FEAR because I have heard a lot of good things about it, plus it's on sale at BB for $39.99 ($29.99 after coupon).
My PC is a few years old, but I am running Battlefield 2 without problems (not sure at what res or settings though):
I have a AMD Athlon 2500+ OCd to 3200+
512mb Ram (thinking of changing to 1GB, I know this will help alot)
Geforce FX 5600 Video Card (thinking of upgrading to maybe a $100 or $150 card)
Thanks!

IMO, Call of Duty 2 is the funnest game ever. I have played the demo like 10 times and still not tired of it. I actually got FEAR for xmas and its decent, but nothing to the effect of COD2.

I thought quake 4 was not bad, but it is very similar to doom 3. Graphics and gameplay.

Quake 4 is definitely not a bad game (at least for the PC). However, it cannot compare with FEAR and COD2.

Agreed. Your graphics card and ram are both inadequate. However, if you can only afford to upgrade one, I'd say go with the graphics card. FEAR and BF2 are in different leagues in terms of graphical requirements. I would highly recommend the Geforce 6600GT. It can usually be found for around $100-$140 and is a very competent graphics card for the price.

I think BB has Quake 4 on sale this week for $34.99, both CD and DVD versions. Take off another $10, and it's still a pretty good deal.

his graphics card is the main thing holding him back as far as FEAR goes, but like rodeo says, even after upgrading the game is still not going to run all that smooth. It is an amazing game though and well worth playing.
Quake 4 is really good as well. I don't think it is as good as FEAR, but it is a really fun game. I spent 35 on it and felt it has been worth it (need to get my monitor fixed before I played it though since my new monitor is a little screwy)

All 3 are good. I have COD2 and FEAR, so here's my opinions.
Call of Duty 2 is unbelievably chaotic. Right off the bat, when you start on the Russian missions as a private, you're thrust right in the middle of several bloody battles in tattered Stalingrad. Your screen shakes, you see comrades pumped full of bullets in front of your eyes, and every effect is incredibly realistic. An unbelievably awesome war game. You play as the Russians, British, and Americans. And yes, you do play through D-Day, undoubtebly one of the best missions (and realistic) in the game.
F.E.A.R. is a traditional FPS with new twists. You're in a futuristic setting with future guns (particle beams, etc.) along with traditional guns (pistol, shotgun, etc.). What twists this FPS is the touch of horror (there are countless scary moments that contribute to the interesting story) and a novel "bullet-time"-esque slow-motion. You can activate slow motions and watch as your enemies look in fear as they try and nail you with bullets. You're actually in such slow-mo you can avoid these bullets and slaughter foes with your onslaught of super-quick shooting.
As for which one I'd prefer... it depends on what you prefer: realistic war, or futuristic slaughter.

I don't think so, BB.com shows both Quake4s at $49.99.
I tried to get Call of Duty 2 last week at BB, when it was on sale for $34.99 but they were all out.
I already have Call of Duty 1 PC, and I play it all the time online.
What are the reasons to get COD2 if I already have 1?
What's the online play like for COD2, FEAR and Quake 4?
I have tried Battlefield 2 online a couple times, I'm just not that crazy about the vehicles, helicopters and planes.

Might have been last week's sale then, sorry. I can't remember what day I was at BB.

Woah, you need more ram.
The kind of card you can get for $200 is going to be (probably) way better than what you can get for $150. However, it's no doubt you have an AGP with this pc...crappo. Maybe you're right, buy cheap. hell, buy something used on ebay.
Download the demo for fear and see how it runs. im not too familiar with the geforce series, so no idea how it will run.

Anything Geforce 6600GT and above will run just fine. For Radeon cards, I would recommend 9800 Pro or the higher X series (X600+). I know for a fact that X800 and Geforce 6600GT can run it.

I've got an X800 AIW, and it runs Fear on max graphics settings. so, yeah - you're right :)

yes an x700 will be alright to run fear as long as the rest of your system is fairly decent.

F.E.A.R. for single player, Quake for multiplayer.

CoD2 is a good game, but nothing extraordinary. Quake 4 is your generic FPS with pretty graphics... except, FEAR totally owns Quake 4 in graphics. Actually, FEAR pretty much owns everything.
