can anyone confirm that the PS1/LCD combo deal is still $35? Also how does that "A-Bomb" shaped thing compare to a 5.1 surround sound setup? (mine was only $70 so its not like the best but it does good) and is Aliens VS. Predator Extinction worth $7.48?

Hey Matthew,
Were they both for PS2, GC or XB? Thanks! I may go this weekend, there's probably still a good chance they'll be there since they're behind the case.

I've never done the target clearance thing. Do I just get the barcodes from games that I'd like to buy and scan them to see what price comes up? Also, does anyone know if it would work to download the barcodes to my pocket pc and scan them from that? I don't want to have to carry a whole bunch of printed out barcodes to target.

In Aventura FL,
I just picked up:
Alien vs. Predator(xbox) $7.48 none left.
NBA Street vol. 2 (xbox) $9.98 none left.
SSX Tricky (GCN) $4.98 about 8 left in the case. ( The guy there didn't want to take it out cause he was so sure that it was full price. He didn't realize that it was in the wrong place. I insisted and he finally pulled one out and scanned it for me and was totally surprised at the price. He even stated that a batch of them had just come in).

Picked up Need For Speed 2 for Xbox and pretty much had to fight for the 4.98 price. The sticker on the copies said 4.98 but the price in the system still said 19.99. Finally got one though

Does anyone know if CC or BB would price match any game that is bought at Target. Figuring the deals that we get going to Target, it would be sweet to get them that much cheaper. For those prices though the receipt usually doesn't show the name of the title which could mean that they wouldn't believe you. I just picked up NBA Street vol. 2 for $9.98 so they would have to give me the game at 110% of the difference.

They wouldn't price match because the price is a clearance price, not a sale price, and it is not advertised in any ad or website. If you find a nice cashier or manager, though, you might get lucky.

Whatever shows up on the price checkers will be the same at the registers. The only time it's different at Target is if it shows up $0 at the price checker. Then they have to gun it and it'll usually ring up something ridiculously low (much to my delight). Not all prices are the same at all Targets. It depends on the manager there and what discounts he wants to make.

Sonic Pinball Party is on Clearance for 14.08.
DEFINITELY worth it if you don't have it. It's a great GBA game, and it's a Target exclusive, IIRC.
Maybe it's just me, but it seems like all of the Targets here in Southeast Michigan haven't had anything new on clearance in months...All that I've seen added as of late are a few scattered PC titles, none of which are any good.
Oh well...I'll find something cool eventually...

Target on Route 30 near Valpo in Indiana had some interesting things....
Those SpongeBob televisions that were originally $129.99 are now $49.00.
They also had a 19" Magnavox DVD/HI Fi VCR TV Combo player for $200.00. Though I'm as broke as can be I had to pick that up. May actually return it...have to see how much buyer's remorse I have...

I just went to my local target today and used the method of printing out the UPC symbols and scanning them, so I did that and some of them showed up in the computer while others didn't. The ones that did show up were cheap, but when I went back to the case with all the games they didn't have any of them. I was just wondering if they were sold out and the prices were left in the computer, or what? If you could help me out I'd really apperciate it.

picked up silent hill 3 at my target for $20. Wanted to wait until it hit $13, but there were only 2 copies left and i wasn't about to take that chance.
Unfortunately, i have to admit the game isn't all that great -- maybe it's just not my type of game, but it's pretty slow and truthfully not too frightening. Then again, I only played it for ~1-2 hours because the camera was giving me an awful headache.
also saw silent hill 2 for xbox for $13 -- no way am i picking that up after this...

Target in Madison Heights (possibly Troy...don't know if it's over the city line or not), MI
I didn't see any clearance whatsoever for the consoles, although I may have just missed it. They had a few decent PC deals, though...
- Diablo, Pharoah, and the others in the "Greatest Hits" line for $5
- The Hulk for $10
- Spider-Man (the movie game) for $10
The best deal? Red Alert 2 and Yuri's Revenge, packaged together and stickered at $3.74. (It scanned at $0.00) I almost bought it...and then I remembered how much I suck at RTS games. I'll let someone else get it instead. :D

This is my first-ever post; great site, great thread - I got MK:DA ($4.98), Hitman 2 ($6.48/last copy) and SSX Tricky ($4.98) just this past week - all for GC. I also found a copy of Tony Hawk 4 (GC) for $13.98 today at the Target in Boca Raton, FL mixed in with the Spyro display, in case anyone is interested. The Boca store still has at least 4-5 copies of Mortal Kombat. I don't have a PS2 or Xbox, so I'm not sure if there are any deals to be had - although the $19.99 Platinum/GH were all marked down to $16.99. Also, Target near Sample Rd. and 441 had 6-7 copies of SSX Tricky in the case, which again come up as $4.98.
On a side note, does anyone know of a coming price cut in Soul Calibur II? I remember Target put in on sale for $27 a month or two ago, but I haven't seen it for less than $40 anywhere in the meantime. Thanks.

I should be shuned as a CAGer!!! I payed FULL PRICE *GASP* for a game today (Luigi's Mansion). I went to four target stores today looking for a whole bunch of GC games that were in this thread, but I found none. (Then I got discouraged and bought the game at full price, but neway) Found a very interesting and dissappointing thing:
I noticed that the one target had Enter the Matrix (GC) scanned my paper and it registered at 7.48!!!! Great deal right???
Well, for some reason I scanned the game itself latter and  it scanned at 19.99!?!?!?!?!? I scanned the paper again just to make sure and the paper showed up at 7.48?!?!?! I figured that since the Matrix recently went to the Players Choice that the UPC was changed on the new cases. SOOOOOO i checked and the matched up.......... exactally ............. every thick and skinny bar the same. HUM........... I am still baffeled :?
Don't know what that was all about, but..........

There is only one real guideline used to decide what gets GH, PC, or PH and that is when they decide they will make more money selling them in bulk at cheaper prices rather then selling less of them for their original, more expensive price.

Yes, the 3rd game was cheaper than the second one. Don't ask me why. I figured I had better get the second one while I can tho, it was my store's last copy & that's still the cheapest I've seen it.

How do you guys find out the clearance price? At my local Target, the games have always the orginal (non clearance) price stickers, and they are all kept behind a glass door that can only be opened by a store clerk.
I asked him about clearanc eprices and he looked at me like I was crazy or something...
Are the clearance prices displayed on stickers at your store?

cn, the first page of this thread should help you find all the clearanced games. As for other products, there is usually a red sticker on them or you can just use the price scanners throuhgout the store

Targets usually pull the clearance games and the $29.99 and under games out of the glass case and put them on the aisle with all the accesories and controllers. Sometimes they have clearance stickers on them and sometimes they don't, if you want to find out what the price is, take it to a self scanner located nearby in Health and Beauty or Toys section and scan it. If it scans at 0.00, it will ring up at the register for $4.98, or less, anyother price should be read by the scanner correctly (9.98, 13.98 and so on).
I'm pretty sure almost all Targets are set up this way, as they don't have enough glass dislay case space to keep all the $29.99 and under games behind. Just look around the electronics section for the cheaper games section and look on the clearance endcaps as well usually by the photomat dept as they sometimes stick clearance games on them.

I was just at Target in Long Beach, Ca and they had Zelda OOT GC(promo disk for Wind Waker preorder) and Zelda Collectors Edition GC for only $.01. I only saw this at 1 out of the 4 Targets in my area so this is definitely a YMMV, but it's worth looking out for.

Hi folks, stumbled upon this site this weekend and it paid off in the form of SC:PT.
Saw a deal at the St. Louis Park Target in MN that I haven't seen elsewhere: the "official" MS XBox Live wireless G router (or whatever they call it) on clearance for $39.99. Seemed to have plenty in stock.
Hope it helps out!

Neither of my targets ever have anything (Middletown and Dayton Ohio). The cheapest game I've ever found was NHL 2003 (Xbox) for $.01 and they wouldnt sell it to me. does anyone know if target does that whole price matching thing if the price of their games changes?
that is poorly worded, so let me explain what i mean: i bought silent hill 3 a couple weeks ago when it was on clearance for $14.98. well i checked today and the target by my house (quinn rd. and gratiot in clinton twp.) dropped the price to $7.48. so, is target like other stores where i can show them my receipt and i will get the difference refunded? thanks.
YoshiFan1
04-22-2004, 02:31 PM
I believe official policy is no, but sometimes if you get a nice customer service person, they will give you the price adjustment on a clearance item.
What you can do is buy it again at $7.48 and return one of the games with the $14.98 receipt
That's what I did with Jet Set Radio Future (before it was bundled with the Xbox). Bought it for $25, I later saw it for $12.44, bought it again and returned it with my $25 receipt and got my $25 back.

I say buy it for the lower price and return with your higher price receipt. I just picked up Silent Hill 3 for $14.98 yesterday (1 left). The lower $7.48 is definitely a YMMV situation.

I would guess that you cannot do this... especially if the price rings up 0.00 and you have to get someone with a scanner to sell it to you. Now if it is in the computer system for 7.48 at one of those self service scanners I would say you could proably price match it.

You mean price-matching policy? I don't know if they do that, but what someone mentioned above should work. You don't actually get the difference back. You just go back there and return the one with the higher priced receipt. I don't see why they wouldn't accept it.
Just go back to Target and buy the same game you want "price-matched". Keep the game unopened and take that and the older receipt of the same game, but with the higher price to the Customer Service Desk. They should give you back what you paid for the game originally.

Picked up some good deals this past weekend at various Target's in ca.
Actually bought
Lodi, Ca
GCN- Hitman 2 ($5.48 I think there were a couple left
Inglewood, Ca
GCN- SSX Tricky ($4.98 A ton of these
Camarillo, Ca
GCN- Hulk ($6.48 couple left. Rang up at $0 then they checked another way with the scanner and got $6.48 somehow.
Didn't get
LA/Culver City? on La Cienega
Had a Zelda Disc (OoT) that rang up at $.01 but after the lady rang it up, another employee took it and said they are supposed to be given away with systems. I could only cry as he took it. Was the only one there.
Paso Robles, Ca
GCN- Def Jam Vendetta. Rang up as zero but some "know it all" employee just guessed a price and said 14.99. I asked if he was sure, and he said it didn't matter, if I brought it up to the register they would call him and he would tell them $14.99. Was only one there, didn't get it, and didn't want to explain the whole clearance thing or argue it.[/b]

I had this same thing happen with Kya. It rang up as zero and the clerk sold it
to me for $19.99. I went ahead and got then immediately went to
the customer service (of a different target) and told the lady that
I thought that I got over charged for it. When she saw it ring up for
zero, she agreed that it was on clearance, and I ended up getting the price adjusted to $7.48.
This lady was really nice though, so your mileage may very, but
if you can't get them to lower price, you can always return it.
Also, I'd say that I would have had a more difficult time doing this
if I had waited a week or so inbetween buying and price adjusting.

Hickory Hollow (Nashville) TN:
XIII (PC) $7.48
.Hack Part 3: Outbreak (PS2) $14.98
Dark Cloud 2 (PS2) $14.98
Max Payne (Xbox, Platinum) $9.98
The only one I bought was .Hack, and they had another copy of it still. I was tempted by XIII, but I'd rather have the Xbox version, plus my tax refund hadn't come in yet (it came in this morning, D'oh). I was tempted by MP, but I already have the PC version, it has just been on loan to a friend for about a year (I loaned it to him the day I got it, Double D'oh).

Has anyone seen the "new" price scanners at a Target lately? They changed the whole system so that instead of something scanning as $0.00, it simply says "Item Not Found - We're sorry, this item is no longer..." and so on. This happened to one of the Targets near me (Sunnyvale, CA) and it just makes looking for clearance games a lot harder...:(

Take it to the dressing rooms in the clothing section. Their should be an employee there. Tell them that the item scans $0.00 (atleast that is how you have described it) and if they could use a hand scanner to check the price. Only do this though if the item does scan up $0, if it's scanning up at $75 then you will have to wait for it to get lowered.
I have'nt been turnded down yet.

You will have to have them use the hand scanner(NOT the wall scanner), they keep the clearence tags and machines at the dressing room desk. Which is why it's best to get it scanned by the employee over at that section, so that they can easily put a new tag on it at the last clearence price.

Temporary Price Cuts are the same at all Targets nationwide. If you look on the tag itself, it will have a start date and an end date on it in very small writing near the bottom of the sign. I believe the Breakdown price cut is good until May 5th or something close to that.

Pensacola Target had Breakdown on temporary markdown to 19.99. Are temporary markdowns different for each location? I am tempted to go out and get this tonight for fear of the markdown ending tonight.
Has anyone played this yet? Is it any good?Gah! I live in Pensacola as well!

So do you have any luck finding clearance games in P'cola? It seems like our 2 Targets are a little behind (meaning our clearance games are not marked as low) some of the others listed in this thread.

nope, most of the clearance games that i see there are just a bunch of Greatest Hits titles. I once saw a Rebel Strike in a stack of Player's Choice titles, but when i took it to the cashier it was $29.99 >_<

The most notable ones I saw yesterday...
All of the PC games in the "Greatest Hits" boxes (Starcraft, Diablo, Tribes 2, and so on) scanned at $2.50 each.
The Hulk game for the PC was scanning at $5.
Nothing too impressive, but not bad...I did see Tron 2.0 on the PC racks, but it was still scanning at $20. I want the price to drop on this one... :D

Haven't seen any central NC posters on this forum, so I thiought I'd report on a few of the targets in my area. I was armed with a list of UPCs for the games I've seen mentioned on these forums, but didn't have much luck.
Winston-Salem, NC
- Checked both stores here. They had a good share of clearanced PC stuff, but nothing for the consoles. Didn't check the actual prices of the PC games.
Greensboro, NC
- Again, I checked both stores, but they didn't have anything to note. Saw Tiger Woods '03 for $9.93 I think, but didn't scan it to see if it was actually lower.
Raleigh, NC
- Capital Blvd: Totally cleaned out. Nothing at all.
- Old Wake Forest: This was a new super target, and as I suspected, they didn't have any clearance stuff at all.
- Glenwood @ Lynn Rd: This place had a HUGE clearance rack - tons of the games mentioned on this forum. Unfortunately, none of it was significantly discounted (I scanned almost all of it). Best thing I saw was X2: Wolverine's Revenge NGC for $9.98 (3 copies left, behind the glass - marked as $19.98) and Dynasty Warriors for $29 (behind the glass, marked as $49).
- Brier Creek: Finally, a score. Picked up X2: Wolverine's Revenge for $6.76. Last copy - it was mixed in with their other cheap console games on an endcap.
And that was that. Still holding out hope of finding Panzer Orta or Aria of Sorrow for cheap, but sounds like that's going to be a next-to-impossible undertaking. From reading through this forum, it sounds like only a lucky few have snagged these bargains.

So let me get this straight...it's best to have the games scanned with a hand scanner rather than using the wall scanner?
By the way, I picked up Arx Fatalis for 7.98 for PC. Not a great deal, but definately a good one.
YoshiFan1
04-25-2004, 10:15 PM
The hand scanner should be used if the wall scanner has a price of $0.00 because that means the game is out of the system and the only way to get the last selling price is for an employee to use the hand scanner.
lordopus99

do them at the wall. if it is said its 0.00. take to the front and make up a reasonable price that a cashier would think is correct.

A couple of messages on this page made me laugh!
Endcaps are located at the end of the aisle. Target usually throws all their clearance stuff there. There's usually a red sign that says 30% off or something like that. They have an aisle with cheap games but the endcaps are where you find some of the best deals. They're located all over the place. I once found a bunch of clearanced videogames in the pharmacy section endcap.
More on topic: NFL GameDay 2004 (PS2 obviously) for $7.48.

Yeah, Target's clearance items aren't too well organized. Most of the clearance stuff is jammed onto the tiny endcaps, but you can sometimes find stuff in the aisles. Also, items tend to migrate, with games showing up in some of the most unexpected places. The only uniformity seems to be that most items start off at 30% off, then they go to 50% off, then 75% off, and after that they usually get zeroed out. Very few items will go below 75% off.
bradr
04-26-2004, 07:42 PM
Also, don't forget to check under the shelves in the videogame section. Sometimes people hide them under there (sorry if I gave away anyone's hiding place) or they just fall behind the shelves. Also, at the endcaps, they'll use their own cheap little metal baskets to put stuff in. Sometimes the metal baskets (usually white) will have good stuff in them. They're easy to overlook because you're too busy looking at the shelves themselves but not what's in the baskets. Be careful though, sometimes the wire mesh gets broken and can cut you.

Gamecube:
The Hobbit $7.48 (2 copies left)
XBOX:

UFC Tapout 2 $7.48 (2 copies left)
Test Drive (PH) $8.48 (several copies left)
LOTR Fellowship Of The Ring: $8.48 (4 copies left)
Test Drive and LOTR were in an Xbox value games shelf on an endcap of the aisle where all the cheap games and controllers are. The other three games are on an endcap on the other side of that aisle and might be buried in other clearance stuff.
PC
Several PC games are clearanced. The two that stood out are Tron 2.0 for $14.98 (at least 5 copies) and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for $13.98 (3 copies left). There are a lot of other titles as well. Check one of the endcaps near the music/DVD section.

Picked up I-Ninja (GCN) $7.48 at the Inglewood Ca Target. They had another copy but it's in the very bottom of the gamecube display case behind a bunch of games, so you'll have to ask someone to dig out the game.

RFoster-
The Target return policy as stated on the back of every slip of paper they give you states the following:
"Holiday and seasonal merchandise on clearance at time of return will be refunded at the current clearance price."
Most electronics can't be defined as holiday or seasonal. If you're not returning lawn furniture or Christmas lights or barbecue equipment they should take it back at the price you paid provided you have a receipt...

Well, I know that Targets are supposed to reset their whole electronics departments, so various games and other electronics (cd/mp3 players, TV's, etc.) are gunna get dumped for the new displays. Today alone I saw Brute Force, Celebrity Deathmatch, World Series Baseball, Conflict: Desert Storm II (all Xbox), Dynasty Tactics and NFL Gameday 2004 (PS2) for anywhere from $5-20. It's an excellent time to grab stuff, and I'm fairly confident that they will do this again sometime in summer to make way for the summer stock of new (alledged) blockbusters.

SO I picked it up, as well as a replacement for my recently traded (in the 4 games for Ninja Gaiden EB swap) Max Payne for Xbox...$4.98

Trust me the lotr fotr is not worth 5 bucks! Trust me! RENT IT don't buy it.
Not to be mean or anything, but that has to be the dumbest thing I've ever seen. Why would you go waste $5.00 to rent a game you can just buy for $5.00 and own. If he hates it that much, then he can sell it or trade it in and get his $5.00 back and then some.

Not game related, but Target has put on clearance a Lexmark Z705 USB Inkjet Printer / Vivitar Vivicam 2.0 Megapixel Digital Camera w/ 16MB storage Combo package. Wal-Mart had this priced at $150, marked down to about $130. Target has them on clearance for $50. At least, the two near me in Columbia, SC did... Seeing as how I needed both a digital camera and a printer, I couldn't be happer shelling out $25 for each.

Looks like NWN dropped again. $6.58 at the Target in Wilmington, DE.
Also, they had the Icewind Dale COllection for $20.xx. Still expensive but not bad considereing you get Icewind Dale, Heart of Winter Expansion, and IWD2 for $20. That's about their going rate online sans expansion pack.

The Target in South Bay Plaza in Boston, MA had
-XBOX Lord of the Rings Fellowship of the Rings $11 and some change.
That's it.
They had a whole mess of games on the clerance racks but they still rung up at $18-20.
