Anyone know where I can get a freeware program to convert my iTunes files to MP3. I've searched google and I haven't found a decent program. Thanks for any help that you all can provide.
Burn an audio CD then rip to MP3 using software like Musicmatch. There's probably a better way, but that will work for a quick fix.

Yeah that's what I do too. It's kind of a pain in the ass, but I'm too lazy to find or install software.

I use a mac, but I'd guess it'd be the same/similar on the PC...
Goto the preferences and change your import option to MP3 and exit the prefs. Select the tune you want to convert, then go to the Advanced menu and there's an option to Convert to Mp3.

Thanks for all the help. I can only do options that involve downloadable software due to the specific computer I'm using does not have a RW on it.

Had a similar problem a few months ago. I found this (http://www.yuansoft.com/Setup_AltoMP3Gold.exe). It ain't perfect, but it'll work.
On a side note, the M4A format that iTunes uses is shite.

I think he's talking about purchased music from the iTunes store.
I use what Bignick mentioned, DBpowerAMP. But I have an older version that's free (and it works too!).

you can't convert purchased music using the altoMP3 or iTunes.
for other music, Itunes can convert the music all by itself. Just select a song and right click.
and I don't see how smaller files and better sound is shite (unless you are talking about purchased music. You should have the option of higer bitrates)

Foobar2000 can do it natively.
