I have been back into console gameing for about 1 month now after 2 years absence in particular the Nintendo Gamecube Console. However CheapAssgamer is the best site for deal hunting but there just doesn't seem to be deals just thread bumps of Target and TRU deals that most cann't seem to get because these deals were before christmas and sold out now. Is this the wrong point of view or am I hoping for to much in the way of deals.

Gee, perhaps you should be thankful for what IS on CAG. Can't you see that these before xmas deals would be of relevance to you had you been here for longer?

It's a funny thing about deals. They ebb and flow. We're at a point in this year where deals are down and, for the most part, done with for a while, especially for video games. Check the Best Buy coupons, they're still valid until the end of the month. Deep Discount DVD still has the Buy 1, Get 1 free on most UMD titles. The Gamefly sale is still valid. Most TRUs still have a decent amount of worthwhile games to pick up, including (but not limited to) Transformers, Samurai Western, Geist, Flatout, Fight Night Round 2, Mortal Kombat Deception, the Bard's Tale, and a host of others.
This is cheap ass gamer, not lazy ass gamer. If you want deals, do a bit of legwork before you bitch.

Well, I think your expectations are a little high. Deals happen every day, but not all are discovered or even worthwhile for everyone. But if your complaint is that there haven't been any big deals since Christmas, well... it's only been a week or so, need to be a little patient. Something will come up eventually.

Sorry fellow gamers, wasn't bitchin just saying yeah there were good before christmas deals but like many post my 70 mile radius all the deals are gone, I managed to pick up the last Fight Night 2 at TRU for 10 dollars and saw at another TRU 1 metroid for 10 dollars and that was it for Gamecube mainly Xbox games were left.

There's less deals around on Gamecube games too, partly because the system just has a smaller library of games. If you go in just looking for general gaming deals, I'm sure you'd be finding a lot more.
Probably best to lurk on a site for a bit before making a complaint post. Especially as your very first post ever. Truly great deals like the TRU $10 clearance aren't happening all the time, you must be patient.

Guys you're being way too harsh. Merciless complimented CAG and merely commented on the long and often annoying REPOST threads for TRU an Target. I swear I can't even browse through them anymore.
But I do agree with some of the replies, Merci, check through a few pages of the deals thread and even down into the Deal Discussions and Bragging Rights forum. People post deals hourly each and every day. Just keep your eyes open and you too can get in on the next Circuit City $5, or even $2 sale.
This place is tons of fun, so be a bit open-minded. In response to some of the criticism you've recieved: we are not here to insult you, but some of us have become battle-hardened by others who complain before they even browse.

I think you guys are searching the wrong places for deals. Yes, retail stores have some very good deals, but I usually find some great stuff at flea markets, pawn shop, etc. Just make sure you frequent them often. That might be a bit difficult if you do not live in a large city. There are a few places I visit when I get a chance, it is usually hit or miss though and not just for video games.

Unfortunately I'm a very task-oriented shopper. So wandering around flea markets tends to annoy me. Certainly I'm missing out on at least one or two great finds, but I'd rather just run into Best Buy or wherever, get the game I planned on getting, and run back out. Shopping trip over. But I think there are plenty of deals as is, so there are no complaints from me.

Patience. As has been said before, the deals ebb and flow. Also, massive sales like the TRU clearance only happen 2 to 3 times a year, but if you keep your eyes open, you can jump on about 1 good deal a week.

I was once like you botticus, well...until I found VP for 3 bucks in a pawn shop, actually he charged me four because it had a second disk.

merciless...check your local Walmart and Targets. They have had Gun and True Crime Streets of New York for the GC for $24 ea this week. I think those are pretty good deals.
Gamefly's current $3 off $12.99 titles and $10 off your 2nd purchase if you opt for the Rewards program which you can quickly cancel is another really good deal as their prices to begin with aren't bad at all.
Just a few that I've noticed and taken advantage of in addition to the TRU sale.
Good luck.

Did you haggle him down to $3.50? That would of made you a True Cheap Ass (or a stubborn jack ass).
The only good things I've ever found in a pawn shop were Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind for $5 and Marvel vs Capcom for $5. I passed on the game but picked up the movie. Sadly there are almost no pawn shops around here.

Check out the thread on Circuit Cities clearance sale right now. Not near as good as TRU's but there are some half decent games there at good prices.

I completely agree with this. I love the hunt so spending my time going to yard sales on Saturday mornings or hitting a new pawn or thrift shop I see on the road is basically a hobby for me. If I was doing it strictly to save money on video games it just wouldn't be worth the time invested. (Of course, I'm buying a lot more than just video games when I go out bargain hunting :) Like a giant light bulb lamp for $0.25. I mean who doesn't need an oversized novelty light bulb lamp?)
I actually find the best deals in the trading forum - I rarely get to catch sales since I'm not located withing 30 minutes of a BB/CC/TRU but often new release games can be purchased at at least a $5-10 discount over retail from another CAG who played it and is ready to move on :D
Just my weekly plug for CAG trading.
