Today my wife tried to exchange a gift (for store credit) and she was turned down because she 'returned too many things without a receipt' now the only thing she returned was a xbox 360 live headset that didn't work for another one, that was a month ago, now she couldn't return this. I wouldn't really mind but I just bought a HDTV for over 1000 and they don't seem to take that into account.
ARG.

Yep, that's why they (and Target) ask for your driver's license during the return process. They track all of that. Sorry to hear that.

yeah, best buy has been pissing me off lately as well. With the amount of money I drop in there, I would hope to be treated better.

Why would you? They don't care about you. You as a person do not matter. You're a fraction of a percentage of their profit margins. You are not a shareholder.

Wal-Mart is more generous with returns then most retailers, but they take your drivers license too and if you have too many returns w/o reciept in a year they'll cut you off.

I was told at Wal Mart you get three returns per six months without a reciept.

As everyone has been saying, a lot of retailers are taking this stance now. I'm not sure how I feel about it. I definately understand where they are coming from and I don't think it's a case of them just screwing over customers. Of course if I had something that was actually legitamately a gift I would like to be able to return it with no problems. Another case of a few assholes ruining it for everyone else.

I know what you mean last year first time returning anything without a receipt I walk in and I get stopped as soon as I walk in the morale officer asks me if I have a receipt I say no. She says you cant return it even though it has the price tag on it and says bestbuy all I wanted was store credit so I got the manager and he let me do it.

If you didn't buy it there, you have no reason to return it there. End of discussion.

it is walmarts current store policy to allow this. They feel that when a potential customer comes in and returns something, they will spend more money then what they just returned. They will even take products that they don't carry.

This is exactly true, I returned an ipod shuffle I got from relatives(great gift, but already have a better mp3 player) and used the money to buy a home theatre system. They got me to spend more money.

Walmart will do anything to get buisness. Which is why they sell movies on their week of release the cheapest around. They might lose $2-3 per new DVD they sell but they get it back by people purchasing other goods in the store.

I'd like to take advantage of Wal-mart's return policy but the store smells too much like sweaty gym socks and is more crowded than an Indonesian sweat shop. I used to hang around hippies that didn't use deoderant, which was kinda gross, but Wal-mart is 10x worse than any phish show that I've been too.
