Hello all,
I am thinking about picking up a dvd burner and i am ashamed to say i have to do some homework on them.
so i figured id start here witht he geniuses of the net LOL :)
questions:
i pretty much want one to burn movies/tv shows from my computer so i can watch them on tv.
cheaper is better but i am looking for something that works
how much should i be looking to spend?
what programs are best?
any manufacturers of drives or discs i should definately stay away from?
and of course where do you think i can get a cheap/good one?
all comments/answers are appreciated,
thanks all

Does anyone know anything about taking an internal dvd burner and making it an external burner? I need a burner that is comatible with an apple computer, and methinks doing this will be a lot cheaper. Any ideas?

its not the burner that does that, its the application, and youre gonna have to find some special apps to decrypt the data and such to make an illegal copy of a DVD

You'll need a dual-layered burner and dual-layer discs if you want "EXACT."

If all you're concerned about is the content (having everything), you can do that with virtually any dvd burner and free programs. To fit it all onto one blank +/-R disc, there will be compression. I've heard that too much compression sacrifices quality, but in all the backups I've made, I've yet to see flaws, though I normally leave out the menus and extra crap (there is still some compression though). Search for DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter. They'll do fine.
