if we did call them this... would the 2 gays act like double negatives and cancel each other out? therefore making the gay person straight?
from now on i will just assume that happy homosexuals are gay gay..
but angry homosexuals are just plain gay

Actually, unless they are privately held, companies are owned by the stockholders.
I'm flabbergasted by the fact you didn't know Gamestop's parent company was B&N. Next you'll be telling me you didn't know CBS was owned by Viacom.
You should read this:

and you may get a new outlook on the world and your part as a consumer.

All cynicism aside, bmulligan, that was a very thoughtful web page. I'm not an idiot, I just don;t always keep up with what's happening. I'm that guy. Sorry. As far as a gay gay, they prefer to be called FABULOUS!!! I know, I've worked in the theatre for fifteen years.

Barnes & Noble is Evil
I bought a DVD off there website. Only place anywhere I could find it in stock. My online shopping cart, my order page, order confirmation, and receipt all said I ordered that DVD. What do I get in the mail? Not that DVD! So, I call them up and they say just return it to the nearest store (~60 miles away) or send it back on my cost (For your srew up? That is messed up!). So, return it to the store with in a few days. What do I get in return, even though I have the receipt? A gift card equal to the cost of my DVD! That is like highway robbery! I wanted that DVD they did not have it, they sent me the wrong item and now I am stuck spending my money at their store on something I don't want. Rip off! Buyer beware!
Anyway, it is for this reason I refuse to shop at Gamestop also.
In case your wondering what I got with that gift card. Nothing. I gave it away.
Sorry, my rant is done. Just anytime I hear about Barnes & Noble it flips my Barnes & Noble rant switch. I will never shop their store, affiliated stores, or website a again. My kids when asked about Barnes & Noble (or any of Barnes & Noble's Children Companies) will respond, "What is Barnes & Noble?" or "What is Gamestop?" etc...
Rant Over.

I know Gamestop has stock, symbol GME. They are an independant company. Here's the scoup. In 1999, Barnes & Noble acquired GameStop, then called Babbages, later spinning it off and retaining a 63% stake. So, because they hold the majority shares, they basically control it. However, they must still run it as an independent company because they spun it off.
EB, trades under the symbol ELBO. I'm not sure exactly what they own currently besides VG specialty stores. At one point, they also owned a collectibles business, but they sold that portion off so that they could focus on their core business.

Guess that means Barnes and Noble gift cards don't work at Gamestop, eh? Blast.
I've got a B&N card, and not too much to use it on. I just use the great library around here for my books, though I imagine I'll find something to use the card on.

Just for curiosity's sake I sent Gamestop an email asking if they take B&N cards. We shall see.

At this time, discount cards, store credits, employee discount and gift
certificates are not accepted towards online purchases. These can
however be used in our stores. To find our store nearest you, please visit
our store locator below.
Well, that didn't really answer anything. I don't know if that was just a canned reply to gift cards, or if it actually applies to B&N ones as well.

Looks like a canned reply to gift cards to me. I don't think gamestop takes B&N gc at all, online or otherwise. Call your local store, and see what their response is. :P
