I'm getting a DS but I dont want it.

NEWEST EDIT: It came in today, and since some friends want to sell some of their ds games to me cheap i decided to keep it. Also because i stashed that attorney game aside for me at my gamecrazy.

I finished my 4 referrals for freepay and a day before the removed the xbox for the gamingsystem choices. So now the best thing to pick to get for free is a DS. I don't NEED a xbox since i use my brothers but that's what i was hoping to get. I do want to play castlevania and maybe mario kart but even then i dont expect to do much gaming on the DS since i love my PSP. I think i might trade it here on CAG for some games that i want, but does anyone even want it here? I know ebay wont be nice right now, since everyone is reselling their gifts. so what should i do.

The DS has so many great games. As Vinny said, it trumps the PSP in every way possible, it's not even funny anymore. Just ask, tons of people here have traded their PSP in for a DS and some games.

I don't know. the psp is hard to top in my book. I'm a huge nes fan. I can carry hundreds on my psp. I'm even thinking of just selling the DS to buy harder to collect nes games. I'm up to 281 and have 19 more in the mail.

If you're really considering selling it (boo!):

A new system is $129.99 at most retailers, that's not with tax. I paid around $136 after tax for my Electric Blue one. Also, there are some refurbs (I think) still left at ecost for $99 (which are guaranteed to not have any dead pixels), but a lot of people don't like ecost and the unit comes in generic packaging. I'd say sell it for $100-$105 with $1 dollar shipping(psychological pricing is teh funz), so it'll be a good deal for those who missed the Target misprint and don't want to order from Ecost.

See i got both for free off freepay. I also have a gig stick in my psp. I use it as storage, nes system, play games, watch movies, and listen to music. I dont have much time to play portable games as it was. I dont think i have room for 2 portable systems or the cash to support 2 systems. so i'm still stuck.

Well it seems you made up your mind allready. So just sell it. If your using your PSP for other things then gaming (other than homebrew) it sounds like you made the right choice for your personal use.

Well, I think it comes down to the age old question: do you want to play portable games on your portable game machine, or use it as storage, watch movies, and listen to music? If it's the latter, then I guess the DS wouldn't do much for you. But if the gaming is what you're looking for, I'd say the DS is the one that's hard to beat.

Well, through PocketNES and a flash cartridge I can carry quite a bit on the DS, though the PSP is still the better system for it. (but more expensive too) That's technically GBA anyhow, and while that does allow the Micro GBA as a super mini NES emulator it would still be nice if DS emu development (or any other kind of development) took off.

I'd say still get it, play the games you want and then Ebay it. That's what I did with the DS that I bought (and then subsequently sold). I only had 1-2 feedback for buying on Ebay and I still managed to make most of my money back on my system.

I still don't get why people use the ability to play NES games as a big positive for the PSP over the DS. There is a DS homebrew scene too, ya know, and although there isn't much in the way of 16bit emulation yet, it's more than likely coming down the road. with less processing power on the DS, programmers can't just port over emus from the PC and have them work right away... it takes time ;)

hm, a fool, an opinion obviously. Cause i aint no fool. It's not like i paid for either system. Unlike many people portable gaming isnt big for me anymore. When i travel i drive. When i'm at someones house visiting for some days i'll bring a system. The only reasons i pick the psp over the DS is because it's more than a portable game system. Which comes in handy more than a DS.

No, I'm not taking him seriously. I just get tired of the DS vs. PSP or the 360 vs. PS3 arguments. Its really a weak argument to say someone is a fool or that they fail because htye prefer one over the other.

I don't think he read your whole post. He just saw the "I don't want a DS because I have a psp" part. I would say your crazy too if you wanted a psp for just gaming. But it sounded like you use it for more than just that. So in that right your psp is suited to your needs more than the DS is. I wish people would realize that the PSP does more than play video games.

I think a real gamer is open to everything. Including PC gaming, which i stop doing after my computer couldnt play DOOM 3 well. A real gamer plays everything. But many gamers dont explore outside that. Gaming wise i stilll would pick the NES over all these systems. PS2 would be second. But i still play with my psp, and others. but I dont call anyone a fool because they never played powerstone on the DC.

I have all my homework on it, my labs, and term papers, music and movies and more(i love the homebrew notepad on it).I don't have time for games all the time. But when i do i would like to know if i would enjoy a DS the way i enjoy my other systems. Can i afford it? Should I trade it to support my nes addiction? So forth and so on.

I just don't like bad games. If it's a good game no matter what system it's on it's still a good game. Maybe when your younger and your funds were limited you had to justify that one system purchase you got every four years. Thats what I think alot of the Xsystem v.s Xsystem is all about. Alot of people don't want to buy every system that comes out. I for one plan on buying all of the Next Gen consoles. I also plan on buying some of the consoles/games that I missed when I was younger.

all joking aside, after i sold my collection last Fall, I realized it's about quality, not quantity and just playing what you like. and as long as you aren't a complete douche about your opinion, it's okay to be a fanboy about a particular game or system. every system has its good and bad side and has something another doesn't have, so it all balances out.

As a person who sold their DS after they got a PSP, I say go for it. you can only have so many games to play...doesn't matter if a system has 3000 good games if you have a life outside of gaming.

I wouldn't ever call what he did getting it for "free." He probably paid a fair price for it in the end, but he essentially traded his personal (and marketable) information for a game system. To me, my personal info is too valuable to trade for about $150, but each person must evaluate it on their own. That said, selling a new DS for $100 (shipped) is reasonable, I think.

Once again, look more in-depth at the DS homebrew scene -- all of those can be done on the DS as well. You seem to have already made your decision, however, so go ahead and sell the DS and pick up a few more NES carts.

You might want to look at getting a new g/f then. Trust me, my ex used to hate my video games and it was just an indicator of how much of a bitch she really was. I'm not saying you need a g/f that plays games as much or more than you do but since video games are your hobby of choice, you should have a g/f that is at the very least, indifferent or doesn't care about it.

First I say play it then decide. The games for the system are great. Considering you dont have a huge list of wanted games for the DS. Given whats come out already you probably wont spend much in the gaming department for it.... I would take another look at the games that are simply not available anywhere else.

Secondly since you are such a nes fan maybe you are a person who believes its all about gameplay and not something else... That in itself is the reason I even own two DS's the games are just great. Crap my 60 year old Grandmother bought one although shes not the typical grandma as she has been gaming for years. Mainly PC to this point though. Now she converted.

What I am trying to say is RedvsBlue bought one and sold it after he played what 2 games? Thats not a very good opinion in my book. The first two games I played on the Ds was Spiderman and Mario 64 both which I didnt think were that great... Now its not even a question as the the value I give the system.

The only thing I can say is you seem to be getting more multimedia use out of the PSP than gaming. For that its a good match, you are the market Sony was after... However you say you have 14 other systems besides the PSP and DS.... I am guessing you enjoy playing at home sometime also correct?

I play the DS at home more than anywhere else. I am driving or entertaining people if I am out... At home I am sitting on the couch/chair after a days work and the wife is watching some TV OR I just feel like playing a game and dont feel like dragging a system out... Then I just pull out the DS and game away. Its easy, quick, and lasts forever on a charge.

Probably with better support to, but you don't get the kickass screen and the ability to play good 3d games.

Hmm true, however if my old HP crapped out (battery had a problem before for instance) I could simply send it in and they'd ship me a new one or fix that one and I'd only have to pay shipping. I'm not sure if Sony is doing that with their PSPs. Then again you could just get a new one from the store of purchase I'd assume (then again if you purchased it online you're somewhat SOL (we did)).

I'd personally choose a PDA over a PSP any day of the week because of the array of software you can get for a PDA, and the fact that I'm not getting it to pretend that it's a gaming system. :P
