OK, so I finally tried playing this beta yesterday and must say so far it's not too bad I'm doing just leveling for now, where do I get money and quests you guys have any suggestions?

Read through this. We stated a couple of times how to get gil and stuff. Also you dont go anywhere to get money you have to earn gil. Sell like the crystals and all the items yu get from enemies at the Auction House. Remember to get the signit cast on you before you leave to fight. The guy will be by the exit gate his name is something T.K. Talk to him to get your signit.

Well Just formed my first party In Valkrum because I hate just waiting for invites. Got 2 JP and 4 EN to join in. a Couple of JP were stubborn to join (snobby bastards) anyway errr turned out pretty good despite having 2 newbies. lvl gap was no bigger than 14-15 which made for excellent EXP. Made a new JP PLD friend in the process so i'm happy ;). Anyway errr amazingly nobody died and got about 1 1/2 level in 1 hour. Took me a damn hour to form the party too lol

I got my 360 last night, first thing i did was install FFXI, been playing, its pretty good. Sucks that i couldnt use my current PS2/PC character, but ill get over it, im up to lvl 4 now.

So you didnt try the tips? Stay close to your home castle. Dont go too far out since ypu'll die. Only fight the things that appear with maybe 200 yards away from the castle. If you go farther harder thing will be there and they will kill you. Always lock on the enemy and use the Check Function.

You go far out, you die. Stay around the castle and fight whatever creatures all the other lower level people are trying to fight. It's annoying to compete with all the other people, yes, but you are not going to progress if you try and fight stuff further out.

I don't know anything about that area, but if you can't see the walls to Windhurst, you are too far away.

I am in San D'Oria, one of the other starting towns. Just stay close to the town you started in. If you start to wonder, "Am I too far away", you are.

Having router problems which will hopefully be fixed soon but I got on. Name is Roxor. Hanging around Windurst right now with my Elvaan monk (level 7 right now).

I usually go the other way around if I find a quest item I go on alahkazam and find out what it's for. Or specific quests for specific items or repeatable quests for fame and profit

Same I dont do all the quests. Right now in Sandy I am doing 3 repeatable quests. Bat Wings, Flint Stones, and the Rabbit Hide ones. I already have very high fame from doing these quests about 100-125 times each.

No, I knew he wasn't in Sandy I was just giving him examples. Castle in Sandy = Vilage or Town in Windy. He should of got that. Also The Bat WIngs and such are the same as above, examples. There are repeatable quests where he is at. Last time I knew this is called the internet so he can read all the info we already posted and maybe do a search. I'm kinda getting tired of all the noobs lately. :) They steal all my Mobs. Damn Them! :) Yes i'm a little bitter today, Not to edison though to Metaminicncicici or whatever dudes name was.

Square Enix today announced that Final Fantasy XI for the Xbox 360 will ship in North America on April 18th and on April 20th in Japan and Europe, alongside the release of the expansion pack for the PC version of Final Fantasy XI, ‘Treasures of Aht Urhgan’. Although the retail price is still to be determined.

Final Fantasy XI for the Xbox 360 will include all 3 expansions pack including ‘Treasures of Aht Urhgan’ and will require Xbox 360 owner’s to have a hard drive aswell as a Xbox Live Account either Gold or Silver.

No word on when the Xbox 360 beta will finish or wether we will be able to transfer characters from the beta to the final version, hopefully Square Enix will let us know shortly, but if i hear correctly Square Enix did allow PlayStation 2 user’s to transfer there beta characters over to the final version.

So many newbies, and they dont know where to lvl. Not to mention ive seen some of the worst character combinations. A Galka WHM, a Taru WAR, jeeez, cmon now. Ppl really should read the guide that came in the magazine, its really annoying when your in a party with someone and they keep talking to you using the /t rather than /p or setting your default chat to "party".

Im lvl 9 right now, im just hoping to get to lvl 11 asap so i can head to the Valkurn Dunes and do some mass lvling (in ps2/pc version i got from 11-18 in about 5 hours at the Dunes. If you have the conquest points, i recommend the Empress Band, that extra 1k exp every 16 hours does help.

Yep. Zewone, Roxor, and Myself on Friday were ting to get a party together in the dunes. Bad experience I have ever had there. We went through about 3-4 Warriors and none knew what they were doing. I told the party I was going to pull something and I would brb. I shot my arrow at a Gob and started to run back when i noticed my Warrior Newb was standng next to me. I'm like hmmm werid. SoI start running back to camp when he vokes the creature. We were pretty far away from camo so he ultimatly died for being and idiot then he got booted from the party. Funny Stuff.

I have to agree with you on the fact that newbs don't know what they're doing, but the again that's why they're newbs. I myself am one, a major one, and have never played these kind of games before. Would I like to?.......yes. Will I ever? True. When I played for the PS2 a lot of players talked shit that I was a NIN/THF. I didn't wanna be a tank so that why I didnt wanna go with the WAR Sub. I really don't think people should care what another player wants or chooses to be.

I'm not really mad at the level of new people (I was one once also). It just seems that there isn't enough monster spawn to satisfy the need. I hit 10 and decided to go to Ghelsba Outpost and it wasn't any better than Ronfaure as soon as an Orc would spawn there were at least 3-5 people attacking it.

Santurio get a hold of someone online and get a Linkpearl (if you don't already have one). The linkshell is a great place to ask a question, especially online when it pops into your head. When ever your online just type in /sea all <name> replacing <name> with the player your looking for, then you have the option of sending them a <T>ell which is a private message. Currently you should be able to get a linkpearl from any of the following players...

It was chasing a dude and they guy was out running it, I was following it and I told the guy to stop running since I was gonna voke it. I had other plans in mind though. The guy stopped running and I let Swamfish tear the guy up. Why? you ask. I'm a THF for one so I have no voke and it was just more fun that way. Good Stuff.

I dont really need 100k, 20k would be enough for me, i just need something to get some decent equipment. Economy sucks in Sandoria. A stack of 12 fire crystals only gets 300gil while on the PC/PS2 phoenix server it gets around 1,200-1,500. I can barely afford a helmet as it is. My poor Galka kids are complaining because we cant afford to eat gourmet Taru-sushi anymore, we're reduced to using the imitation crap made from Pugil/Sheep Meat. I cant tell them that daddy gambled all his money away to the ppl by the Auction House who offer 2-3x your bets for /random rolls, they'd be so ashamed.

I went to Gideos yesterday and noone was camping the NM for the wand or any others there. In fact it might not be worth camping them cus noone would buy the items maybe. I dont know but its a thought.

Are you selling crystals? Granted since there are a bunch of new people the crystals don't sell for what they would on a normal server, but some are still valued. If your not using them for synths, then put up stacks of 12 on the AH. I'm not sure off the top of my head but try to find Windy's repeatable quest and do them over, and over.

Once your able to take on Yagudo, and Goblins (comfortably) kill as many as possible since they also drop gil after every kill. Usually thier drops will sell pretty well to. If anything drops that you don't regonize always check http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/search.html and look up the item, a lot of times they will be for quest you may have not started.

Honestly there is nothing wrong with a taru war or Galka WHM as long as the player has the appropriate gear. like astral rings/serket rings for the galka.

rng is good for hunting NMs

RNG/thf is also good for hunting NMs

RNG/Nin is best for parties.

NIN/Thf is honestly crappy since NIN's should primarily tank since they sure as hell arent damage dealers. For Soloing NIN/Thf of course will be ok. However a Nin/Thf would be almost like a WHM/BLM wanting to nuke instead of heal.

Here's my current path

lvl 15 war for the sub to get me up to lvl 30.

Then I can get the nin sub, Having already lvled up war that sub will be readily available.

One thing I am worried about is the availablity of shihei for utsemi since economy and crafting is iffy....

For the mog house upgrade quests here are the needed items and how to get it.
How it works is that you need to hold the items in mog till the tally or like a week I think, then you can hand it off to others. I did this with my other charaters in retail and we all chipped in to buy the items and then we took turns using them. Its just an idea.

I'd like to do the gobbiebag quests but I think at this point it'd cost over 40k lol. Since periodot seems to be out and I think it's 9k at Bastok? I wonder if anyone has even done it. I think something in the range of 5-10k per person that plays regularly would be fair and of course those who post here who can't make it except the weekends. That way you can still keep the bulk of it since it couldnt be more than 8 people.

but yeah for sure BCNMs would be good. I'm hoping we can pull off BCNM 30's in giddius. Those yield some really costly things like erase and dispel and the sort. But yeah a bronze bed would be good to pass around the LS.

Ok for those like Buk and others. I think this weekend would be a good time to do some missions and maybe even BCNM20s. If you didnt know Drain/Warp are among the items dropped at these BCNMs and I need them both since I havent taken the time to do the quests.

So... as soon as I hit 25 WHM and I guess 25 BLM. Which might just be tonight (I will be playing all night again). I will be ready. 25 BLM for a test in time and 25 WHM for Castle Oz. Once those are done we can all go and quickly go and kill the dragon. I bet it will not be hard finding members to help w/that if we promis to help them w/their dragon and lots of ppl might just want to see a dragon.

I have went to camp several NMs and been the only one there. This is great. Doing what you can now will only make life better both now and later.

I would love to add some quality old school members. Ppl that can lvl fast and know all their is to know. I have turned down loads of ppl do to them being stupid and I hate to say it but "new" and while I dont mind helping some ppl; I dont want to waste all our time telling ppl everything there is to know about everything.
My last two LSs were so large you never logged in w/o there being many ppl on at the same time. You never had trouble finding someone to Plvl a subjob or go do NM runs or something I would like that again.

Lvl 26 rdm in kazam with no subjob, 50% of the wars seem to be war/whm... Lizard gear for tanks in kazam... pld/nin, rdm/war.... people using solo jobs which are useless in parties. You would think by the time people got to kazam they would have thier shit straight. BLM's dont know howt o magic burst and melees don't seem to comprehend the simplicity of skillchaining.
And of course tons of incompetent tanks that apparently think that provoking once is enough while mages and drks get slaughtered. ............................

I agree. I was invited to a party today in Qufim and noticed the one guys whom said he was a level 34 ranger on blah blah server was a 21 WAR/10WHM. I started to make fun of him and asked him why he picked WHM as sub. He said I had no clue what I was talking about and he said every WAR chooses WHM since its the best combo.

I find it funny. They have about 28MP and can Cure 1 3 times. What a waste. I have no clue where I am gonna level 21-25. I wonder were all the level 21's are going?

I have tones and tones and tones of complaints like this of JP and US player and all those in between. PPL saying they are a year into the game on X server but they seem to have forgot everything. Most of my parties dont use SC at all and forget about MB. If your lucky your mages have half their spells, which on a mage is just sad. I mean forget your armor if you have to (LIke I did) but get your spellz. Also to many parties that think 50xp per kill is great xp with the ring and worth staying where they are.

As BLM and WHM I cant believe how often I am seeking for way to long. As you know I am lvl 25 in both and current in all spellz, and willing to use either job. It just that there seems to be "enough" players at the times I am seeking so that often I find my self as the only one seeking in that area which is really odd.

Well I got all my Kazam keys this weekend and killed 4NMs for 0 drops. I got Warp, inivsible and Raise too.

I still have no armor though but I did get a new melee weapon and did skill up with it so now I got two new WSs.

I accepted 3kingdoms and as soon as I get on tonight I am going to Bastok to knockout the first half and then to sandy to kill the dragon.

I was invited to kill the dragon no less than 10 times this weekend while in the 3 zones looking for keys. My party (not me cus I couldnt yet) did the mission 3 times yesterday alone. You want to know why warriors sub the whm? Because there are barely any freaking whm's in the beta and the ones I come across never want to party. The other reason is because its easier to solo a warrior as a whm subjob. Remember everyone this beta recently started. Most people don't have the time to level up 3 jobs just so they can have one for parties and one for soloing.

About the armor issue. Have you seen the price of the armor? If the AH wasn't such whores on trying to make a profit it would be easier to get the armor. Its funny seeing chainmail sell for 20k on AH, but it sells for 14.7k in the store.

The hydra server is getting even more barren lately due to people who started an account and left, people with more than one account, the server being full, and just the fact that people are not leveling up as quickly. I have free reign of so many areas its not even funny. So, many good leveling up spots.

Which brings me back to my original point. There are hardly any parties in the higher level areas. I was on Q Island and there was maybe two parties. Only place I have seen lots of parties is Dunes and Gusgen. And that is why warriors sub the WHM.

PS You are in the wrong groups if you can't find people who can do Skill Chains and Magic Bursts.

Still why sub WHM? You can heal yourself 3 times tops. WAR should sub monk so they can get the added STR, VIT, and HP. Even if you have a team of 4 WAR/WHM and a BLM, and a THF they cant take the place of a staright up WHM. It just doesnt make sense to me.

I have tones and tones and tones of complaints like this of JP and US player and all those in between. PPL saying they are a year into the game on X server but they seem to have forgot everything. Most of my parties dont use SC at all and forget about MB.

Sad to say but this happens a lot on Midgardsormr. Veteran players who go back and level low level jobs and seem to have "forgotten" how to play the game. It's common that these veteran players will bring power leverlers to the dunes and once the power leveler leaves the party, they will disband because of "slow" xp and scared that they are going to die even though the group is completely able to level without the power leveler.

Honestly If I can afford a spike necklace, battle gloves, 2 beetle earings, dex ring, fire sword, merc knife, and decent armor I don't see why they can't afford money for Chainmail at lvl 25. I have not done any hardcore farming either and I still have 18k left over.

I also have noticed what Brev is talkinga bout. There's a war out there who says he's a lvl 75 BLM but it's obvious he doesn't know jack about the game. And instead of getting better things seem to have gotten worse when I hit kazham.

And yeah what pimp said, war/whm can cure himself like 3 times whoopiee. If he had that mnk sub the mob would be dead long before. If they're so frickin desperate to get a paladin hit 30 with war with mnk at 15 and then do your pld. This game is not a solo game. It's a party game (as long as you're not bst). If you're soloing past lvl 20 then EXP must be coming in damn slow. In a good party you should be chaining It's up to 4 at least.

If Im on ill invite you to the LS. Don't worry about finding a party until you get to the dunes. I didnt end up going o tthe Dunes myself since Zewone and Myself Double Teamed In Latheine and got exp sorta slow like 40-60exp but mobs were plentiful and we didnt need to go looking for a party.

Just look for someone online when you get on, /sea name (replacing name with Cyrril, Brevity, Shipwreck, Jiran) if you see one of them send a /tell name and if they are close (don't know what town your in) they'll hook you up with a linkpearl.

You shouldn't need to party until your lvl 11~13, and you can't get a subjob till lvl 18. Then you get the quest either in Selbina (the easiest), or Mhaura.

I played this for the first week I had it, and quit playing. I recently picked up World of Warcraft and saw how much better it is. Now I'm definitely uninstalling this from my 360.

Thanks for the beta Squaresoft, but I've had enough. I can play WoW and easily find creatures to kill! It took me about two hours until I hit LVL 2 or 3 in FFXI, and by this time in WoW, I was already LVL 6 and completed a bunch of quests that were much more fun to play.

In reply to those that in some way replied to my post: The thing of is two fold. One, people dont know any better and dont truely want to learn about the jobs or armor or anything else. Two, people are freaking lazy.

I think the very worst part of this whole problem is this. We as party members are strapped for people so we get in parties with these people and or let these types of people in. In normal retail they would be forced to educate them selves and get their act together or solo(read stop playing). I know that I have seen people in retail that got labeled for being stupid about SC and not having high armor and or not playing their jobs right and you know what they got 0 parties. I bet nearly all them either got right or quite. I would think that by Kazam or even lvl 25-30 these beta people would get a clue but its just not the case cus they are being grabbed up no matter.

I tell you what I hate is trying (though I am really stopping that now) to explain the dam game to people in my party. By game I mean everything from their jobs to SC to anything else. I get STFU when I try to tell the THF about his SA ability or tell a war how to macro TP and a WS for a SC. I am just going to have to live with it and hope that time alone can weed these lameasses out. Also LS members and friends I still love to help mostly cus they listen.

Buk I offer you this idea. I was a former 67BST. Other than WHM/BLM I never had a job I ever lvled faster. Even with MPK its a great job. Once you hit 30 you would be much welcome to go BST/** with me. I will be BLM/WHM but since I duoed often with a BST/WAR, BST/THF, BST/NIN. I can tell you its not bad having only one of us be BST/WHM. Duoing BST is lots of fun. Best of all it will keep you in the game and happy till retail hits and if you decided too you switched to a public server and "then" built up whatever other jobs you wanted. Just a thought.

Mtim, dude be a BLM there is honestly not a job that you can lvl faster. You can do 1-2* solo atleast and with a little education you can go well beyond that. I started making manaburn parties in the maze at lvl 9. But even before that it can be done in other places depending on the country you are from. Of course Bastoke has the tunnel and mines to work in. Even in this beta I found groups of ppl to boss around making a mana burn party for my WHM and BLM was easy and most of those people now think of me as powerlvling God and often seek me out for other things. Some good some bad.

Either way if your wanting to lvl fast I say Mage it up. Then read at the places I posted a few spots up and see where to go and what to do there to make an awesome party. Trust me on this cus those people that I got into my parties when I was their lvl I now see doing simular stuff with parties they made on their own for their SJs. In other words they had no experiance and learned fast how to lvl up quick and with little risk and effort.

I will be on tonight using Aspir and Drain to raise my stats while I farm and NM hunt some. I want to get some nice equipment now before I start lvling.

Actually, a level 22-25 warrior/level 11-12 white mage can cure himself 5-6 times with cure and have enough for dia or paralyze, or cure himself twice with cure II and have enough for dia or paralyze during a battle. During rest period MP recovers quicker and casting cure to heal health quickens the healing process. That is why a war/whm is the best for the warrior on this server when most of the time you have to solo, due to not many high level whms willing to party because they have a party already.

The full set of chainmail costs around 30k alone if you aren't stupid enough to buy it at the auction house. Weapon ranges from 8k (spear, sword)) to 20k (axe). All the other extra stuff like beetle ear rings, dahmel mantle, etc cost around another 20k. And lets not forget a subjob... if its a magic user subjob then it really starts to add up. But I'm sure you've gotten the 75k+ needed on average for most of the stuff a warrior/whatever needs at level 24 in addition to the previous stuff needed to be purchased.

Last paragraph was toward Zoglog.

After Edit: I made a mistake. I mean the War/whm is the best for a warrior subjob combo on this server for soloing or in party without a healer. This is due to not many high level WHM's being available.

After After Edit: Made another mistake. It actually costs around 46k for full set of chainmail. So, on average a Warrior/whatever at lvl 24 would need around 96k+ to get all the stuff he needs to be at the top of his game.

Have him start as a BLM or a WHM. Either way you both can duo well for many many lvls. Even when you get in parties you can force the groups to let your friend in as mages. I dont know how many parties I have been in where two mages came to us saying "Both us or none" and get this someone always bounces or gets kicked to make room. ^^

Besides that at lvl um... 16 or sooner in the maze and I am sure in the tunnels too you will for sure want to duo rather than have a full party due to xp loss. After that you each can solo near each other for safety. I know there have been many times a friend and I have soloed next to one another for safety reasons (On BLM and BST jobs).













































































Guys with any luck there should be a few of us ready this weekend to go get some RSE and start if not finnish Rank 4 mission. Lets all keep this in mind and work to get lvled up enough for it. Pretty amazing that on the retail servers, people are paying a few million gil just for the Steal +1 effect. If Playonline announces that we'll be able to keep our beta characters, it'd be so worth it to stock up on NM drops, then get a worldpass to another server and sell for huge gain.

I believe there is supposed to be a 20% size increase on the HDTV font.

Ecowarrior is actually pretty easy compared to BCNM 30 in giddius. Problem is getting people to do it right

Every time I have ever done an Eccowarrior we had higher lvl escorts. They would clear a path to the NMs and back again. Then we would trade off and escort them. It was easy/fun/safe. You can do it all with less people that way.

"Farming" as Buk "Zoglog" is refuring to it is killing things for items to sale. For example you can farm crawlers for silks to sale a stack of 12 for 6k in windy. So to start farming you only need to start killing.
If you want to grow plants then you need to get some seeds and a pot.
















God I claimed NM for Signa 3 times no drop (outside of Mitts). Claimed Lizzy 4 times no drops. Claimed Nm for Lantern Shield 3 times no drops.

No!!! You fell for the AH greedy bastards on that chainmail. Theres a shop in Bastok that sells all the chainmail parts significantly cheaper than AH prices. You can get the Chainmail body anywhere from 14k-14.7k at the shop. If you plan on buying anymore go there to save a few k. Its in Bastok Mines a little behind the AH.

Bezerker if I got to travel to do it I will get you a shell tonight. We have all moved to a lvl 30+ experianced kickass LS. Its full of old friends and we do lots of LS events and well its just kickass. So far I have done 20BCNMs with them. Did M3-3 and going to do M4-3 soon.
They are doing another M3-3 run like tomorrow.
I am doing several more BCNM runs tonight I think.
We are doing M4-3 Rank4 maybe tonight.
We are doing Eco Warriors for Windy and Sandy and maybe Bast this weekend.
We have been helping on advanced jobs a lot. I know I have stopped to help ppl get Rubies/do NIN quest/SAM quest. Ect..

Yea I really Like this LS. Everyone knows there shit compared to other LS's out there that I often make fun of (EX. DivineXM is laughable).

I am also going to try to get my BST to 20 ASAP so I can do those BCNM easy.
I'm down to help any sub-job BUT SMN again ( that shit sucked right zewone? ). That shit is just too hard to get the drop. I dont even think Kappy got one yet and he's been tring for like 13+ hours looking.

I know this thread kind of died, but I am a 18 War now. I am trying to build up to do the sub-job quest for more than a week, but I never can get into a party for the dunes. Does anyone have any advice?
