It seems like i've tried everything, I try and download the frikkin' update but when I do I get stuck at initializing, yet my Computer fully recognizes the ipod. Any ideas on how to get my update to get out of the Initializing step?

What type of iPod?

Which interface are you using? Where are you connecting the the iPod (into a hub? Into the back ports of the computer? Into a PCI card? etc)?

Well, there is something you can try. Hold the Select (middle) button and Menu for like 3-5 seconds. The iPod should reboot, and try again.

I have a 15GB Ipod, Use a USB port, and am running it on Windows XP

For 3G iPods, I can do little but tell you to reboot.

Disconnect your ipod first before rebooting.

Well, you neglected to answer the final (and most crucial) question I asked: Where you plug the iPod. I'm going to assume you're using an unpowered hub or some sort (whether it's on the front of the computer, or some box that you plugged in). With USB ports, you need to MAKE sure that you plug it into a powered port. Unpowered USB hubs are a bane to all USB-dom. iPods don't respond well (I had to take my iPod shuffle out of the non-powered 3.5" box my mom had in her computer and put it into the port on the back of the motherboard), printers will fail miserably (I've had printers not function until I took the cable out of the hub and directly into the computer) and other such nastiness. I'm not sure about a lot of USB hubs, but I know that the power hub in my Dell monitor works like a charm.

Also, restarting the iPod with menu and play should have little effect on the iPod.

If all else fails, I suppose you can try and get a Firewire card from newegg (about $15) and use that. iPods seem to work better with Firewire, because apple loves their semi-proprietary hardware.

I use a USB port in my computer.

Front of back ports?
If your using the Front ones, I'd try the back ones. (I think thats what mao is saying)

now i've hooked up my ipod to computer, when i click on my computer it recognizes it as the F: removable Disk. Now my ipod updater just gets stuck and it shows the date of the update but the rest is a white box. when I click on CTRL+ALT+DELETE it shows the Ipod Update as Running. Any idea on what to do now?

Sounds like it's time for a new iPod, or a trip to the Apple store.

That's exactly what i'm thinking about doing, sucks though, the Apple Store if 1 hour away.
