View Full Version : Broken Headset

Couple days ago during PDZ, I couldn't hear any of my team mates which was weird. I checked Parental Controls, volume control, etc to no avail. Yesterday I noticed the same thing where I couldn't hear any of my voice messages until I got up from my couch during a message. Turns out that the cable to my headset would only work if it was bent at a certain area.
I just got off the phone with a Xbox 360 representative, only to find that I must ship the broken headset back to a certain location at my own expense.
I know I'm going to sound like a little whining bitch, but I did not expect to lose $4-5 to ship a broken headset back to Microsoft when I've already paid $399 + tax for the console itself.. $5 could easily cover 25% of the cost of buying a new headset from a retail store without the 5-10 business day wait which is why I am ranting.
I've already called them and sent them an e-mail telling them my situation. I'm still contemplating whether or not I should shell out the money to ship it in and be stuck without a headset for a week or two, or just complain more?

If you've got the first headset, plug that in to the controller.

My 360 headset allows me to hear but not talk (I checked it with voice messages and what not) but I just use the old black headset and it's fine. Only problem is I can't mute myself, I just unplug the mic if I need to.

I have one but it's broken, haven't bothered to replace my old Xbox headset since I ended up muting people during Halo 2 anyway.

That being said, is there an easy way to mute everyone that isn't on my team in Halo 2?
Back to the subject at hand...
A CAG'er here had called MS about a damaged faceplate and they said he would have to send the old one in at his expense. However, several days went by and MS sent him a new one even though he still didn't send in his defective one. So, maybe MS will send you a new headset out of the blue? Also, you could buy a new one and then return the defective one in its packaging. Some people may have moral issues with this but the store can send the defective one back to MS for full credit. Of course, if someone asks, I did not suggest that. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.

It doesn't cost $5 to ship that light little headset. I doubt it would cost more than $2.50. Hell, even Priority would only cost $3.85.
You can call up the store you bought it from, and ask what they can do to rectify the situation. Maybe they'll replace your headset.

I got it from Best Buy, I doubt they would do anything for me though.
I DID buy it less than a month ago...

Try calling this number and see if they can help you:
800 360 7561
It's the number for Microsoft Peripherals, which covers keyboards, mice and the like.

I have the same problem with my headset, but I never did anything about it because I don't play on Live much, and the "quality" headset pretty much sealed the deal for me.
