View Full Version : Jetpacks, PDZ, Just So Damn Cheap

I was on the receiving end of a real ass whipping on PDZ from one guy in a jet pack. At one point he had racked up 30+ kills on my team before we nailed him once (Desert w/open bases.).

Next game I told two other people, same map, to get in jet packs with me, use the left trigger for zoom and just stay on the ground near spawn points. In a half hour game we had captured 7 flags to the other team's 0 and the three of us had a combined 300+ kills against a mixed team of bots and humans.

The only time any of us died were from head shots from ticked off, I wonder why, human players who snuck to a point they could pick us off. The one flag run they had on us where it got more than 100 feet from the flag was taking it back through the base, down through the basement and out near the "secret" entrance that you have to blow up to get in in the first place.

Of course I use this trick so when we didn't see them up front the two players were sitting ducks when we swarmed on them with three jet packs.

Point? This game is far, far, far too unbalanced with vehicles. I realize that they could have tried the same thing, they didn't, but even on games where jet packs are used by both teams you can have a group of 4-5 people escorting a flag carrier and without a plasma rifle or rockets a jet pack just needs to land beyond rifle range, scope and pick off the whole group and then return the flag.

It's a shame they put these in and even a bigger shame that no one ever seems to turn them off when creating a game/server. This is one factor sure to tick people off and shrink this game's online replay value over time.

I'm not the biggest fan of PDZ, though its the only game I'm playing on Live on 360 right now. But, its not impossible to deal with the jetpacks if the team works together. If they're in your caves, they're easier targets. Its easy to kill them with a headshot or grenade. If not, if you can get to a position where you're not under fire, its not hard to snipe them, especially if they're standing relatively still and blasting away at one area.

Having certain weapons on the map will balance them out, but if there aren't any sniper rifles or grenade/rocket launchers, it can be impossible to deal with them. There are these host whore type of people who will turn jetpacks on, and useful weapons against them off, and those people should get a negative review.

Vehicles seem pretty halfassed in this game, like an afterthought. Not at all like Halo, where the vehicles are a central part of the overall experience. Not that Halo 2 doesn't have major problems of its own online.

I actually think people in jetpacks are insanely easy to kill. Just aim for the chest and head and they're down in no time..

I won't even bother playing any online games of PDZ with Jetpacks or Vehicles, it's just not fun, and kills any skill which might be involved.

I played a game today where all the other team ever did was use jetpacks. Its like thats all they know how to do... Not fun at all.

Then why not create a room and turn vehicles off?

Simple enough solution.http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/images/icons/icon12.gif

Jetpacks are easy to take down, it takes 5 seconds with one person firing a superdragon to make it blow up.

Usually, yeah. But a lot of these hosts will pick weapons that make it hard to shoot them down. Thats when its time to leave. But under normal circumstances, they're not very hard to deal with.
