Well, I got a few Rain Checks from Target today on True Crime for GC. Priced at $25.88, or 49% off. They were out of stock so I got a few Rain Checks. In the past as many of you know, you can use the Rain Checks to buy a Substitute game for the same % off if they are out of stock of the original game that the Rain Check is for.

A few months ago I got a few GBA SP systems and some games for 63% off with some PC Madden Rain Checks that I bought from a guy at VGTalk.com for $1 a piece. This was an amazing deal, but depended upon the clerk you got.

I believe that Target may have wised up and is now saying the game must be for the same system and some even say that it is for that game only unless it is not back in stock within the 30 days that the Rain Check is good for.

Maybe they just know me there, and that I have done this before. In any event, many of you will be able to just get the Rain Check on this game if they out of stock and pick up any other game for any system and get the 49% off.

I think they may be catching on to this deal, but their Rain Checks still state that you can get a substitute on the same category of item ie. shirt for shirt, TV for TV, etc, so it should work. If you bitch a little, they usually will cave in and just do it. Go to the line that has the most people in it.

I recommend taking the game and Rain Check to the front checkout and you will need to explain that you are substituting this item, they scan the rain check, key in the % of the discount, and off you go. You may have to show them on the RC where it says the "shirt for shirt" thing.

Some Targets do not let you carry the game to the front unless they are extremely busy, so just say you have more shopping to do, and it will be at the front when you checkout.

Fortunately for me, the only games I would use the rain check on are Xbox games, so I could get the rain check for either True Crime: Streets of LA, or Tony Hawk's Underground for Xbox.

Here's hoping Full Spectrum Warrior is released in time for me to take advantage of the rain check before expiration.

If you get the walgreens ad, there is a coupon for $5 off the new lord of the rings video. Target takes competitors coupons, so you could get it for $9.99! Oh ya wil free popcorn too. Oh ya, buy a $5 duracell battery pack, get $5 off.

I don't think my local Target even sells True Crime. The only way I'd be able to get the raincheck is too get a product number for the game.

Targets by me haven't sold True Crime for more than 39.99 for a while now so it wouldn't be 49% off for anyone around here. More like 35%. Still a good discount, though.

Did you try asking anyway? When Max Payne was on sale, I saw that they had 5+ copies of both PS2 and XBOX versions. Still, I went down to customer service and she still gave me a raincheck.

hmm I don't know about that, last time I asked at customer service they called electronics just to check if it was in stock or not.

I always thought this practice was frowned upon in the forums.

It's always been the dependent on how the person behaved.
One or two rainchecks for a game is one thing, but 10-20 is another thing entirely. Some people just don't seem to grasp the idea that if their actions affect others, and when you get a large number of people trying to get 10-20 game with large, large discounts that Target will likely end up suspending the policy.

People that follow the policy aren't looked down on or verbally assulted, but the people that come in yelling about how they went and got 10 or so games on rainchecks, and then picked up 5 more rainchecks, they usually get read the riot act.

Just picked up a 49% off raincheck. I was gonna pick True Crimes for PS2 but they didnt have it so the clerk let me have the raincheck. I'll probably stop by tomorrow and use the rain check and also pick up LOTR: ROTK dvd.

Before I can pick up any rainchecks, I need three people to buy the last remaining copies of True Crime: Streets of LA for the Xbox.

If/when that happens, I can say hello to my $25 copies of Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay and Full Spectrum Warrior....

Haha I know what you mean about Riddick. I just read the review on EGM and now I'm praying that I can get some rainchecks. But like ChrisXE, my Target carries a whole bunch of copies for each system

I used a True Crime raincheck yesterday to get a $40 game for True Crime's Sale price. They wouldn't let me get 49% off and it took several glances at the raincheck before they seen the 'Substitue for another item' part.

Oh well, I still have a $17 DBZ Takestiu raincheck and I'll gladly forget about that game to get some $50 game at that price.

Forgive me, but could someone briefly walk me through the process of getting a raincheck (or direct me to a thread that does)?

~BustaUppa

Step 1: Look for out-of-stock game on sale.
Step 2: Go to clerk or customer service, and ask for raincheck on out-of-stock game.
Step 3: Um...say "thank you" to clerk and/or customer service.

As you can see, it is not quite rocket science.

I just got that EGM today. That review, plus the one in XBN, has more or less convinced me that I need Riddick in my Xbox library.

Great gameplay + great graphics + 49% off = MUST GET THIS GAME!!!

ha ha sweet, thanks for the tip! So the discount you get is, like, proportional to whatever the original sale was?

So theoretically if, say, Mojo was on sale on sale for $5, and it was out of stock, you'd get a 50% raincheck? And you could use it to get, say, FFXI for $50?

I know this would never happen, I'm just trying to see if I've got the theory right.

any target employee in the los angeles/valley area that's willing to help a cheap ass brother out??? i have raincheck , but the target employees in my area dont feel like honoring it....

another topic of discussion: as an employee, isnt it possible to print out as many of these high percentage rainchecks and use them to purchase games at your own register? in essence, youd be getting a much higher discount in comparison to your own employee discount (which what ive heard is around 20%)...

ITs very YMMV. I actually got a 47% off to work on FFXI. It came out to about $57 with tax. Great find but it really depends on the employee.

I tried to get a Wavebird with the True Crime one, guy said nope, game only. This was the electronics guy though, so you may have more luck taking it to the front with a long line and they'd do it for you. Its a possibility

You are right, and it can happen. The best deal by far was the MAdden deal, 63% off any game. Any $50 hame was $18 and a $40 game was $15. Ah, the good ol' days...

Man, you aren't kidding. I got so many PC games (and a few GC games) with that Madden deal. I got games like Neverwinter Nights Gold, WarCraft 3 Battle Chest, Battlefield set, etc. etc. Each game came to about $15 ~ $18. That was the best discounts I have ever gotten and the best find I have seen from this site. Who knows, with this 49% off it may still be possible to find another crazy PC deal with the 63% off deal. Keep your eyes peeled.

I've used 3 of my rainchecks so far, I picked up Tony Hawk UnderGround for 12$ (yes I used the raincheck against an already discounted game), 18$ for TeenAge Mutant Turtles, and 10$ for Soul Caliber. The last one was the most hassle, I had to call the manager over and explain how the discount of 10$ was much less than if I had bought a more expensive game. They were having a fit because the game was so cheap!!

I'm going to try and get thief 3 today, using both the RC and the 15$ off coupon.

I love target, I even got Lords of EverQuest for 5$ on clearance last week.

I saw this raincheck deal while in target a few days ago, but there was nothing that I wanted to get. I got to use the madden one thanks to JimmieMack for the slip. For 63% of Final Fantasy x2.
