Ok, so I found a PC version of FFVII at a local pawn shop today for pretty cheap. However when I got it home, I noticed that it was missing the install disc. Now, I'm wondering (sorry if i sound like a newb here, I don't do pc gaming much) can I install the game on my computer using a "borrowed" copy of the game and then used my remaining game discs to play it? (To rephrase, I would buy a copy on ebay, install it, and then resell it hoping that my other game discs will do the job as far as actually playing the game) or is there some lock on it that I have to use the same discs that came with the install disc? Thanks for any help you guys can provide.

I don't think there's a lock, especially on an old game like FF7 (which is what, 97 or 98?). However, I've heard FF7 has problems on XP, but I think there's a patch out there floating around JIC.

You only need the install disc to install. But you do need the other 3 cds to play because all the video files and others misc files remain on the disc. Those files don't get copied to your hard drive. There is a way to do that though, to make the game run faster and to avoid always having the cds in your drive while playing.

Do some searches on Google, there are some sites dedicated to FFVII for pc. Like the previous poster said, there are a lot of problems running this on XP, so you'll need a lot of patches and do some tweaks.

I remember when this game out. I don't think there was a PC that passed every test. There was always a hiccup with something. The cutscenes use to play upside down on me.
