Why is it that England is so small but it has produced so many legendary bands?

Led Zeppelin
The Beatles
Radiohead
Spice Girls :D
Coldplay
Blur
The Cure
Rolling Stones
The Who
Oasis
Queen
Pink Floyd
Sex Pistols
The Police
Black Sabbath
Iron Maiden
The Clash
Judas Priest
etc.

My favorite is probably Led Zeppelin but Radiohead is a close second...

You forgot Duran Duran...No, they don't deserve a spot. Of course with Oasis, Blur, and The Police making the list that's up for debate. Not to mention fucking Coldplay. He did forget The Clash.

Zep, here's a Guardian article on the good Brit bands now (how will they rank in 20 years?):

Definitely the Beatles for me. It's incredible how much you can still hear their influence in so many songs today. The wide range of song styles they were able to pull off is pretty amazing as well.

Zep hands down. In fact I now have a giant urge to listen to Kashmir right now.

I just thought of the bands off the top of my head... I'm sure Sabbath, Maiden, The Clash, Judas Priest, etc. can all go on the list... which I will do right now

I'm a huge fan of Iron Maiden. Definetly not on the top of the list but I really enjoy there music. Great classic 80's Metal!

I would probably vote Led Zeppelin as the best.

Who's the 3 guys band that had a pop song that was big in like 99? The video was shot in an airport or something. They were pretty sick.

Better than Sgt.Pepper's, better than Pet Sounds, WAY better than Darkside of the Moon. These guys were top notch. Oh, and don't forget David Bowie. He's better than 3/4 of those other guys too.

Noone mentioned them because they're a terrible fluke that never should have seen commercial success to begin with.

That's probably one of their worst songs ;) I don't really like it.

Go listen to In Rock.....probably the most revolutionary hard rock album of it's time.
