What is the best pop up stopper for the PC? I used to use Pop-Up Stopper, but I found it worked well but made my system unstable. What do you guys use?

if you want to buy, i heard stopzilla is a very good one.

i use the earthlink pop-up blocker (i have an earthlink account, but it might be freeware). Others are google toolbar pop-up blocker, yahoo toolbar pop-up blocker, the nvidia forceware pop-up blocker feature. Those are spyware safe.

Google is much better. The yahoo bar stops all pop-ups.. even those that are part of the funtionality of a site... for example, if you want to use the smilies pop up from this site and have the Yahoo toolbar, it gets blocked. The Google toolbar lets it function as normal.... plus, google is just a great search engine to have right on your toolbar.

I've already installed the Google toolbar and I'm loving it. It's pretty small, so I like it. I've already blocked 30 pop ups. Thanks for the tips.

My cable modem provider gives Checkit 86 as a popup blocker and that works pretty damn well.

Why are you opposed to "changin" browsers? Does your contract with microsoft forbid you from using any browser other than MSIE?

I use ZoneAlarm's ability to block advertisements (such as the ones that run on the top of a page). I haven't seen one in months.

The only way to be completely safe from pop-ups is to use Lynx.

Isn't Lynx a Unix browser?

Firefox I just started using it this morning, I'm almost about to use it exclusivly. Pictures download faster and it seems to be effective at catching popups.

Are you sure your system is completely free of spyware? If not you might wanna get ad-aware or spybot and run them. Also try cwshredder and hijackthis.

Apparently it's available for Windowsz now too. They only list up to NT, but that's probably compatible with XP.
