I don't think Best Buy price matches with their website. (The one in Cambridge, MA made that very clear.) But you should be able to select in-store pickup as an option for shipping if your store has them in stock.

Edited to add: I got Ikaruga from them pretty quickly, despite it being backordered on the website when I ordered it.

In store pick up = bad. I've ordered things for in-store pickup and then they had to cancel my order because their inventory wasn't right at the store. Then, if I want my order reinstated, I have to call the foreign sounding people at Best Buy and deal with that hassle. Then, a few days later, Best Buy will decide that some items were a price error and say they have the right to cancel all orders.

Bottom line, don't waste your time with in store pick up if you can get it shipped for free.

I think most, if not all of the games are backordered.

In my experience, that means you'll about a 5-10% chance of getting them if you ordered earlier this morning. You might as well forget it now.

Try to buy the game again on-line, but don't submit your order. There's some option where you can select the store availability before you check out. If it's not there at your store, there will be a line through the store location. That'll at least save you a wasted trip.

Recently I ordered a music CD that was "backordered" and I only got it about a week late.... take that for what it's worth. I hope this won't be much different.

This does seem like a glitch, but maybe it's just an unusually good series of price reductions! I could see it being a glitch if these were all brand new games, but these titles should have all been in the Best Buy computer system for quite some time now... it doesn't seem likely that they would all just freak out all of a sudden. Oh well, I guess we should all keep each other posted on orders going through, shipments arriving, cancellations, etc. We're in this together!

I don't think it wasd a pricing error... retailers need to drop excess inventory at times. Some of these were flops or just older titles.

Back in the mid 80's retailers were dumping huge crates of 2600 and Colecovision games at something like 2 for 14.99... now they just use the internet.

Isn't there a GBA version of FF Origins coming out? In that case it's quite plausible that Square would want the PS1 version cleared out. DMC 2 is one I can't really figure out... GH titles don't usually go below $14.99, since they are "Greatest Hits" and somewhat expected to sell.

I'm just trying to figure the rationale on all these drops... oh well, if these orders go through than that's all I'm concerned about. Thanks a million on the great find!

Best Buy is probably selling off their excess inventory to make room for the new titles. I don't think this is a glitch like the $5 Platinum Hits titles. During that glitch, you had to have Splinter Cell in your cart to trigger the rest of the PH titles to be the same price. These titles seem spread out over a number of different systems and types of games. Not to mention a lot of these are older titles and GH titles that don't sell well (like DMC2, reviews scared everyone off this game). I notice that some titles are no longer back ordered but are now sold out so I'm wondering if there still a good chance these back ordered titles will ship out.

I just called Customer Service to try to change my order to in-store pickup and the nice lady informed me that my local Best Buy didn't have any in stock.

She was ready to get off the phone with me until I asked her to check another location that I go to frequently.

To my luck, the Arlington Best Buy had FF Origins in stock, but didn't have DMC2. So she changed my order for FFO to in-store pick up! It should be ready pretty soon!

I ordered one of a lot of these titles. Worse comes to worse they don't come. No loss. I thought Wolverine's Revenge would be the only one in process because it was the only one in stock...but silent hill 2 and Enter The Matrix came up as in process as well. Definitely worth a shot. As for the low prices...after getting fatal frame II for $10 and Nascar Thunder 2003 for $2 I don't doubt low prices as much.

No one really knows, Some people ordered Ikaruga on back order from BB.com and they got them. Considering that these games are now "sold out" I have a good feeling that they will shipped the backordered games out. They probably have these games in inventory but are probably in a warehouse somewhere. The games that are shipped are the ones that have ready to go from there shipping station.

Even if it doesn't come back in stock, if they can't pull it up in the system, you should be able to bring the copy you bought in for them to scan to pull up the current price, and price adjust.

I'm inclined to believe he stumbled upon a good ol' pricing mistake on that one, because I find it hard to believe any first-party Nintendo game would go that low. But who knows? I got Freedom Fighters, Beyond Good and Evil, and Enter the Matrix cancelled on me. But it says they're still shipping my Twisted Metal Black, so I guess I got somewhat lucky that BB fucked me only 3 out of 4 times

Mine were cancelled, too. Best Buy still has a hold on my card, though, even though cancelled last week. I did manage to do in-store pickup on one thing (Haunted Mansion for GC), but apparently they did not have FF Origins in stock at the store even though the BB inventory showed that it was when I originally did in-store pickup. I think one of the BB employees may have wanted it for himself. So my in-store pickup was 1 of 2 and in Best Buy's eyes they marked that order "Completed". :?

Last week I checked my order again and it finally said "cancelled." That sucks that they don't even notify you in any way, you have to actually check your account online to find this out. So much for DMC 2 and Freedom Fighters for $5.

However, I got those as my free games in GameStop's Buy 2 Get 1 sale the next day (i bought six games) so it's all good. :wink:

Three of four of my games have been cancelled. The only one I truly wanted is still backordered, which is Final Fantasy Origins. I expect that one to be cancelled in December.

same here. the order got cancelled, no email from them. they haven't changed a bit since last time(beginning of the year)
