$4.99 Best Buy Games IN-STORE!!!

I hadn't even seen the topics on CAG about the online prices. I just happened to walk into a Best Buy on the way home from work (night shift).

Anyway, there are way more $4.99 games (and under) that have not been mentioned in the other threads on this page, and I really doubt the prices are YMMV. I think it's good for all stores if your store has them.

In fact, I actually browsed through an entire list of all of the $4.99 and under games. There were probably around 50 of them.

This is what I picked up:

Megaman Network Transmission (GC) = $4.99
Wario World (GC) = $4.99
NCAA Football 2004 (GC) = $4.99
Phantasy Star Online I & II (XBOX) = $4.99
Voodoo Vince ($4.99)

This is what I had in my hand but in the end decided not to get:

Bionicle (XBOX) = $4.99
Big Mutha Truckers (XBOX) = $4.99
Evil Dead: Fistful Of Boomstick (XBOX) = $4.99
The Italian Job (XBOX) = $4.99

There were a load of the other games available, many for the PS2 (which I don't have), so I was less interested in what those games were, but there must have been at least 25 titles or so.

From what I remember, Dark Cloud, Primal (?), NCAA Football 2004, DMC 2, etc.

Also, there were a ton of GBA games for cheap. Boktai was $9.99, for example. Again, I don't have a GBA, so I wasn't really paying rapt attention.

Also, some PS2 and PSX games were 99 cents. Don't remember what they were unfortunately.

Shrek 2 Preview Disc (?) was 1 cent.

Sorry I couldn't pilfer the list, but it was left out on a table (I think by accident), and I got some suspicious looks from some employess when I was leafing through it.

My memory's pretty good though, in general...

I just checked one of my BBs (Maplewood, MN) and they had none of these deals. I browsed for $4.99 games and only found Haven. Will check Woodbury, MN on my way home today. They have a better selection anyway.

Just checked my own Bust Buy (Muncie, IN) and they are very much in on this deal. I got Wario World and Mega Man for $5 each for GC. They also had Disney Skateboarding and some Jimmy Neutron game for GC and a couple no-name games for Xbox.

I don't have a PS2 so I didn't really look at their selection, but an employee was making a center-aisle display with 15-20 different titles which he said were all $5. I kinda wish I did have a PS2 now ;)

Weak! The BB in Greensboro, NC didn't have anything. I know one of the guys that works in the video games area, and he knew exactly what I was talking about in reference to the $5 games. He said that they didn't have most of the titles to begin with, and what they did have, they had like 1 of, and they were all gone. The only titles that they did have when I got there at 2:30 PM were Scooby-Doo on GBA and DBZ Ultimate Battle 22 for PSX. Suck. :?

Bloomington, IN Best Buy is totally cold...they had Blinx and Haven for $5 and that's it. My buddy who works there said most of the games were probably bought by the employees who did the stocking and price changing prior to the store opening.

Got Wakeboarding Unleashed for the XBOX, rang up $4.99. Good thing, I've been wanting this one for some time.

My advice - pick up every older game you can find and have them pricecheck each of them. They did for me, and Wiplash XB, Secret Weapons Over Normandy XB, Colin McRae 04 XB all rang up regular price.

I thought the Best Buy near me was doing some random markdowns, but it looks like it was happening everywhere else. I found some incredible deals today. I pucked up Metal Arms for the Xbox and Godzilla Destroy All Mosters Melee for $4.99 each, and it was the last copy of both games! I almost crapped my pants when I found Metal Arms for $4.99, and it's funny, because the week before I considered buying the game when it was $19.99. Good thing I passed then.

a lot of the games on this list will come up in the system as "deleted" which means they don't carry it anymore...there maybe a few exceptions but everything i wanted showed deleted when i asked the guy to check other locations for copies

Buffalo/Amherst BB had nothing of interest. Only thing I saw was wild arms 3 for ps2 for $4.99. They have a lousy selection either way. I almost got Pokemon Channel for $15, but 2 douchebags playing fight night annoyed me enough to just leave.

i could have told you that my man. i went last night and grabbed the final copy of dynasty warriors and what was one of ten phantasy stars at the time (which when i went back today were all gone), and i already have a copy of it, which can be used as bait hopefully =)

Not all stellar titles, but the ones I don't want will make great gifts for my young nephew. There were other titles as well. No games for Gamecube. Be sure to check the shelves facing the Xbox games as they have overstock there. Nothing in Burnsville, MN or Richfield, MN Best Buy stores. Good luck!

I went to all a bunch of BBs in the Research Triangle Park area of North Carolina today. I was mostly paying attention to PS2 titles, but here's what I found:

Durham NC Best Buy: Had the placeholder/price cards for many of the games on the list as $4.99, but were sold out of everything marked down.

Raleigh NC Best Buy (Hwy 70): They had a terrible selection to begin with, and didn't have anything to mark down.

Raleigh NC Best Buy (Capital Blvd.): They had one or two crappy titles marked down that weren't on the list, but didn't have anything else.

Cary NC Best Buy: Score! This store hadn't marked anything down yet. I managed to snatch Goblin Commander and Monster Rancher 4. Both scanned in at $4.99. A couple of titles from the list scanned in at the higher price...so make sure you ask an employee to scan them for you before you waste your time in the checkout line.

These are games that either had trouble selling, or were on the market long enough to warrant a substantial price drop. Once consumer penetration of these titles has reached its saturation point, there's simply no point in restocking. The most sensible step to take would be to lower the prices on the games that are left, sell them off, and be rid of them for good.

That's why you want to take advantage of this deal now, because it's very likely there won't be another like it again (for these games, anyway).

All that was left from us were Summoner 2, Winback and a few minor sports games. I think they had Oddworld at Newington,CT for XBox but I skipped over it

Hmm, my Bestbuy did seem to have a restock on The Haunted Mantion for the Xbox (only 2, but hey, it's something!), and also a copy of Wario World mysteriously appeared out of thin air (it definatly wasn't there yesterday or the day before, but I went there today and there it was right in front of the $4.99 tag). So if you check back every day or so you might get lucky, yesterday I lucked out finding a copy of Tao Feng misplaced with some other games.

Heh, well at first when I played the demo I absolutly hated it, but after I played it for a while I found the controls were kinda like Tobal for the PS1, and the environment interaction isn't bad, so it was ok once I got used to it. Hey, for $5 I can't complain, I'd probably have payed $10 for it if I had to (though no more than that).

Tobal No.2 did look amazing, it really did annoy me that they didn't bring it over. A RPG/ Fighting game, who would've thought that idea would work out so well. *sigh*, guess it's stuck in Japan forever just like other classics such as Radiant Silvergun and Shining Force episodes 2 and 3. Oh, and Carnage Heart 2 sounded cool as well...

And yeah, the main reason I was interested in Tao Feng is because I heard some of the Tobal people helped make it, once I found that out I could see a few smaller connections between them (like the rigidness of the combat system and the way some of the reversals worked, I think). Certainly not as good, but should be worth going through a few times.

I went by the same store tonight that I visited Monday and either I'm blind or some more stuff popped up.

Monday night nothing was marked so they had a good selection and I got 8 games. Tonight they had at some point marked everything. Either they did it today or the resellers hadn't been in yet, because while they didn't have much for Consoles, thier GBA selection was pretty good.

Now one or two of those they had Monday but I didn't know how cheap they were. A couple of those I'm pretty sure that they didn't have.

When I went to Best Buy, a lot of these games were normal price. They had lots of Wario games but for 39.99. Should I just take the game up to an employee for a scan? There was a lot of empty slots but they were games I never heard of. Was Morrowind:GOTY a 4.99 game? The only games I got were PS2 Parappa and XBox Shenmue. Was really looking forward to Phantasy Star for Xbox but no luck. Really sucks to live in such a small city where the big things are miles away. Oh well.
