Anyone ever took there gamecube apart before? Basically my controller port 1 doesn't work anymore and most GC games require the controller to be in port 1 to play, unless it is a multiplayer game. So basically I am going to attempt to take apart my gamecube and see if I can switch the ports around. Just wondering if anyone has any knowledge in this.

Most likely won't work as most controller ports are all attached to eachother. I haven't taken apart a GC myself, but the 3 I have taken apart (PSX, NES, Xbox) all are attached together.

This is correct but you may be able to purchase this piece as you can remove it (it's attached to the main board by a ribbon cable that's easily removable). However you will need to purchase an 3.5mm attachment to remove the screws, they cost about $5 shipped on ebay. I just opened mine up because I was getting DREs and was amazed how compact everything was inside.

How old is it? I'd give Nintendo a call and see what they can do for you.

I opened one before.... my disc drive went bad and i opened it to exchange drives between these two gamecubes. This will be the most important tool that you will need

you could practically fix your gamecube for 8 bucks. that all the money i spent in fixing mine, better than the 60-70 thatnintendo charged

If you want to sell that cube let me know.
Also make sure you understand that if your cube is older it may have the progressive or component output. The newer ones dont... Nintendo will exchange them if you buy new and want it but I am unsure if you pick up a used one.
It may not be a big deal now but in a few years you may want the progressive capability

ya I'd sell it to you more than likely once I pick up a new cube.
