Anyone know where I can find a good price for a Chilton's manual for a '93 Camry? I checked their site but they wanted $30 which was higher then I was looking for.
Alternatively, anyone willing to sell me one for a good price? As long as it has all the pages and everything is legible I don't care much about the condition.

I'd say ebay but I only see a camry 1983-92 repair manual listed.

Toyotanation (www.toyotanation.com) this is one site that can be helpful in what you need to fix...for all toyota's not just camry's.
TSRM - toyota service repair manuals (http://techinfo.toyota.com) is a site where you can dl the TSRM's. You need to sign up and pay..I think it's $10. From the toyota nation site, people have said good things about it.
I know there are sites for camry's alone and sorry I don't know what they are. Toyota nation is a good site to start off with though.

Go to advance auto parts or auto zone they carry thouse complete tear down and rebuild guides for most all cars. They are only like $10-15 dollars and I think they are Hayes guides?

Are Hayes just as good as Chilton's? I've only had experience with using Chilton's. I like having pictures for each step and everything simple enough for a layman to understand.

Never seen a Chiltons but Hayes were pretty good. I had one for every used car I ever owned so I could fix the lil shits that would go wrong with them since i'm not that auto repair savy.

Both Chilton's and Hayes are ok. The only gripe I have with them is that they don't always have what I need to look for. It's nothing major like an engine overhaul but other things I wish they would put in there. Have you checked out the toyota nation site yet? They can probably help you out with what you need to do w/o buying the book. Someone might even sell one, granted asking for it.

This is very useful information indeed as I drive a 92 camry myself. Excellent Topic! :applause:

I checked out the toyota nation forum and I must say, there are some very nice people there. If I knew more about cars I probably could fix everything just by asking over there first. Unfortunately, I only know the most basic details of the inside of a car. I really need some type of book with pictures and instructions. I'll go check out Autozone next week after work. Thanks though and if I have any car related questions I'll post in here.

There's a used bookstore nearby that might have it - it's never had the ones i was looking for (Corolla). I can scope it out tonight and if there's a good one I'll pick it up for ya.

cletus - Hey no problem. Glad to see you checked it out. It is a useful source of information. BTW, what was the problem you needed help with? Just curious.

Public libraries sometimes carry Chilton's manuals. Try looking there. No need to buy it when you can borrow it for a couple weeks.

He's almost out of gas and worried about the whole refilling process.

Any auto parts store is going to have a section for Chilton and Hayes guides, which are typically about the same - though I prefer Hayes myself. If they don't have what you're looking for, try a bookstore like Barnes and Noble. If they don't have it, try half.com. I couldn't find a Hayes book for my 89 MR2 anywhere, but I picked one up at half.com for $10 after shipping.
Toyota also has manuals for their shops, they're usually referred to as the Big Green Book (BGB). These cover the more mechanical side of things (engine timing, electrical system, etc), but they run around $50 or more on Ebay. It's nice to have both, but if you're not a car guru, you probably won't need the BGB since you'll be taking your car to a shop for all the big stuff.
