Do some research on the word "squatter" and you'll see what a nightmare it is to live in rural Japan.
"Fortunately" for me, my contracting organization provided me with some sort of "adaptor" that sits on top of the accursed hole in the ground, making it into a pathetic replica of a REAL toilet. Not only is the thing like 4 feet off the ground, but its pleasantly unstable. Add to the fact that there is NO HEAT in ANY BATHROOM ANYWHERE, and "dropping the kids off at the pool" is quite a fun chore indeed.

Sorry, I just fucking hate my toilet.
