I was a manager at EB for about 2 years. Im currently out of a job and thinking about applying over at Gamecrazy. I was wondering if anyone knew how the job was around how much they pay managers, basiclly any info would help. THanks

You should definately turn all that managerial experience to a larger retail chain, imo, one that could pay you some big bucks.

That is true but im looking for a more laid back job right now while i go to school. I dont want to be in retail the rest of my life

Less than you got as an EB manager, I can tell you that from the fact there's at least one former GC manager in the district I work in at EB who jumped ship for more money. It's significantly less from what I hear, but I can't give you any figures since pay varies state to state anyway due to cost of living and such. If you enjoy the atmosphere though, I say go ahead and at least put in an ap and see what they say they'll pay you.

They pay less and work rookie managers to the bone. At least in our district, our DM works my manager at least 55 or 60 hours a week, because he won't let him schedule more hours to regular employees, and he's always demanding setting up retarded events and things that have no purpose. I would never be a manager for gamecrazy, because they are so poorly managed in upper management.

Sounds like he is not planning on quitting. Are you looking to relocate, or to be a manager in that exact store?

Give him shit. Tell him that you'll find the DM's number from other means and tell him exactly the type of shit he was pulling on you.

THere is a decent amount of stores in my area. it doesnt have to be that store depending on how much they pay me to commute.

I was just going to say, "Pay for the commute? That's funny."

While I fully agree that all the other positions are fairly laid back compaired to say, GameStop, Store Director positions at Game Crazy are probably one of the worst things a human can put him or herself through, right next to drug addictions.

And they say the abuse is over community amongst the company and poor revenue goals.

Schedules at GC are tight already without some District Manager pulling that 55-60 hours/wk. b.s.

NEVER. Work at a game store. EVER. You WILL regret it.

I managed a Gamestop and an EB. Before the merger EB wasnt that bad. It was really laid back, i mean they did put pressure on you about sales and what not but all my stores did well. And when you are doing well they dont bother you at all, at least in my area. But i heard some bad things about Gamecrazy so im not even going to pursue it. And i can make what they offer as an Asst Manager somwhere else. I just thought that it might be less stessful then other store manager jobs. Oh well.

What was the approximate offer?

I made about 33k/yr when I was a rookie EB manager.
