Can someone clarify: the DS won't play old GB/GBC games, right? But it is possible to emulate them using some third party device? (bear in mind I have no interest in piracy, I only want to know if I can still play a few old GB and GBC games without having to get a GBASP, too.)

Apparently there's various flash carts that allow emulation for them. Of course, they seem to be about the same cost as a SP, so it's a toss-up as to what's a better buy.

those flash cart does more than play gbc games.

Might be better with a flash cart, not only will you be able to play GB/C games, you'll be able to emulated GBA & DS games.
