View Full Version : On shiny red dragon shirts
Matt Young

Recently, I have gotten some flak for my choice to own and wear a shiny red polyester shirt with dragons on it. According to many, such attire is not fashionable for self-respecting individuals.
Exhibits A, B, and C (thelast2 I've never shown before and just have to):

Well, I am happy to say that my detractors were wrong. I had refrained from wearing the shirt for a while, but now, thanks to Samoa Joe, I can feel secure in my shirt choice once again:

And if you disagree, he will choke you the fuck out. ;)
EDIT: Of note, I also own that same necklace.

Samoa Joe can get away with it because his skin tone, ethnicity, look, and aura about Samoans and whatnot. Us white guys don't have that luxury.

only guys with pastel Abercrombie/Hollister shirts do that.
They sell those shirts at gas stations, next to the "Tommy Gear" and "Six Hours of Cumshots" DVDs.
I'll leave it at that.

I haven't seen one of those shirts in years. They were everywhere 5 years or so ago. I actually like them, even though I've never worn one. Most of my stuff is guess, calvin klein etc. that I bought at outlet stores or clearances.
Though you look like you either haven't shaved lately (not in the rugged way, but the trailer park way), or you aren't old enough to grow facial hair.
Edit: The necklace comment reminds me of my old one. I've had one necklace in my life. I bought it about 8 years ago and lost it about 3 years ago. I still miss it. I'm pretty sure its somewhere in my house, and I've spent hours looking for it. It only cost like 15 bucks but I loved that thing.

I'd imagine that's an awful lot of cumshots... unless, y'know, the guy gets really exhausted around hour two and falls asleep. But I guess that's more like two hours of cumshots, so the title would be misleading. Hmm...

I just gave a bunch of those shirts to goodwill/St. Vincent de Paul; I can only imagine the look of bewilderment on that good old catholic person's face when they examined my bag of goodies to find several of those kinds of shirts, some fishnet longsleeve shirts, black pvc pants, and a leather boustier (not mine).
The problem with this kind of style is that it screams "I want to look like a pipe-smoking J.R. "Bob" Dobbs kind of 1950's swingin' hepcat louge daddy, but I happen to only shop at JC Penny and Target."
It's not that the shirt designs are necessarily bad, (well, in many cases they are), but they aren't unique. If you want that look, but with some class as well, go subtle. Check out some of the men's shirts here: http://www.daddyos.com/. They aren't perfect (they have some very nice shirts, but some are downright dreadful). Think "no print; no print; no print" and work your way from there.

Our local goodwill once got in a box containing porn mags and ammunition.
They kept it in the back till all the employees could see it. I'm not sure what they did with it after that.
Anyway- my BF wears things kind of like that, only less-distinct lines (no dragons, just patterns) and NEVER shiny. Usually has a bandanna on, too.
I could never say it to his face, but I really think working with illegal Mexicans for so long has had a clear effect on his fashion. :D

Also of note is that all those hot girls that posed with him are PAID to do so. They'd pose next to a 800 lb. man wearing a mumu if he showed up and paid admission.

I don't think it's the shirt so much as it's the fact that it seems to be the only shirt you own.
What's worse is that it's probably your "go to" shirt. You know, you're going out, to a car show or some fishing tournament and you want to look fresh, maybe even funky/fly so you go to your closest/pile of less dirty clothes and you search for "The One" shirt. The one that you always wear when you want to let everyone know that you're a baddass and you don't care who knows it.
How you got that chick to agree to marry you, I'll never know but, shit bro, you've defied the odds so much up till know you might as well keep pushin the envelope, you Bud Bundy lookin sonuvabitch.
Let the haters hate, you just keep goin with your dragon shirt and patchy beard.

Haha... This thread delivered. You guys gaveme some quality insults.
But although I wasn't being so serious before, I must clarify 2 things so I don't appear completely ridiculous:
1) About the beard- It was patchy back then because I did not own a beard trimmer. Now I keep it trimmed to a 2 length at all times.
2) About what you said regarding the shirt- I used to wearit alot, yes, but all those pictures were taken on the same day at E3.
This thread is so stupid, but it has amused me greatly, hehe.

This is the funniest thing i've read all day.. my god.
There were these two kids, probably about 17 or so at my local Taco Bell a few weeks ago. One of them had an extreme shiny shirt on that had something, I want to say more advanced that Pokemon replete with Dragonball Z like imagery. Like super-ultra-pokemon? I don't know anything about that culture but the shirt was off the hinges. His friend was playing gameboy, in the line of course, and shiny shirt kid is ordering and goes, in the most ruling "i am a super nerd" voice:
"i'd like a combo number one... ummm... mountain dew (and then in a totally serious voice, sets spit straight) CODE RED!"
Code dork. But i love it... I'm a big fan of the nerd, of course.

LOL... I'm not quite that bad. I am a nerd/dork. I mean, I have played video games for nearly 20 years, watched wrestling for almost as long, I have a bunch of comic books and action figures (although I haven't purchased any in years) and I like Star Wars and anime. But I'm not the social outcast type of nerd, and I thankfully have a very sexy, deep, non-nerdy voice. ;)
But I definitely look like Bud Bundy, and I have a big fucking head.

I'm actually an autophobe who is never comfortable with pictures and never, ever smiles.
Also, in the words of Frank Sinatra, "I don't dance."
And finally, I would never be caught dead in a photo with a gorgeous model or female celebrity.

It's not even fair to compare that shirt to Samoa Joe's shirt.
Sure, both shirts are red and have a dragon on them. That's about the extent of similarities.
There isn't the garish and god-awful pattern across the shirt Samoa Joe is wearing. That shirt is far more simply crafted, with only the dragons across it, making it far, far less busy, and just from the photos, you can tell the difference in the material used to constuct the shirt. The similarities there amount what would be the gulf between a designer garment and a middle of the road knock-off of said garment.
