View Full Version : What is a game you've always wanted but never even played? And why?

Hmm, was that an awkward wording?
The rule is: you can't have ever played any of it. But for some reason you followed it. Try and think of an "all time" game and not something so contemporary.
Anyhow, my vote for game that I've always wanted to play would be SNATCHER for Sega CD.
The reason I haven't ever got my hands on it is that it would require a lot of dough. Snatcher is pricey, as is, but I would also have to buy a Sega CD and deal with shipping. It could end up being $150...? Possibly more... And then I have to have a Sega CD machine lying around which has pretty much no other software I would want. Christ, it's a 1x CD drive.
So what's your game and why don't you have it?
Mine is Ace combat 5 with the flight stick. It costs too much.
I 'd also like to play/have snatcher (again) I rented it when I was younger , beat it. brought it back, when I decied to go looking to buy it,(about a month later) I could not find it anywhere ,I have not seen it ever again(in person)

valkyrie profile.
reason is... i like rpgs, but this one is just too expensive to get ahold of. i had a chance to get it when i worked at gamestop, but someone else got to it first. im a medievalist, and ive read my fair share of norse and various medieval literature, so the story sounds like id dig it.

JB Harold Murder Club 2 on Turbografx LD. I loved the first one, but I chose to get the Mega LD instead of the Turbografx version (didn't have a sega cd, did have a duo, and the sega LD games looked much better than the TG ones, other than JB 2, and they had Vay sitting right there, which I bought with the system). I never got around to buying the Turbo pack back then and now the pack and the game are both insanely expensive. I would still love to get the game one day though.

yo, regardless of whatever bad rep some ppl would give to DL roms and such,
u can DL and play the rom for Snatcher.
and... it's pretty encouraged by many people that u do coz otherwise there's no way you'd ever play it

This is tough... most every game I've had an interest in I've played one way or another... hmmm... maybe Halo since I never had an Xbox? I've played Halo 2 a little bit though... this is a tough question...

It's pretty good. Not the second coming of video games or anything but a solid game. I'd give it a B or 8.4/10.

Persona 2: Innocent Sin
Love the two other games that made it stateside with an English translation, wish they'd translate this one.
And, come to think of it, every other game in the Shin Megami Tensei series that hasn't been translated to English =)

Couple of titles - simply too expensive (so far) to pick up. I'm still looking for a good deal on these:
Panzer Dragoon Saga
Radiant Silvergun
D
System Shock 2
Valkyrie Profile
Rez
And I own it yet can't play it on Win XP: Elder Scrolls: Daggerfall.

That's the RPG one right?
I could put that as a close second on my list. I just read some more about Snatcher (I've been following it casually for several years) and I'm really wanting to play it, one way or another.
The last game I dropped a bundle on was Star Control ][, with a 3do system and extra joystick (and a crapload, literally, of other games). It came to about $200 with shipping, but I can honestly tell you that we played more than $200 out of it before the 3do died. Worth it even for just the melee mode, frankly!:bouncy:

Like JEKKI said, those who want to play Snatcher, just bite and download it. You don't want to miss out, it's a fantastic game, and reeks of Kojima, in a good way! :) It's very easy to run on PC.
I've never played Vib-Ribbon, but God do I ever want to! I can't really think of many games, but that one comes to mind.

What a fucking awesome game that was...
I don't remember the game name, but it was that mech game for xbox that had it's own gigantic mech controler for like $150! That game looked sweet!

Allrighty, since Snatcher is long past being on the market and is no longer commercially availble, nor is the console - I was wondering if anyone could PM me and recommend a good place to find the ROM image. I have pondered this moral quandry and do not feel bad about seeking this in emulation form, as the publisher will not see a penny if I spend an exorbant $150 on EbAY.
All I've found is broken links. If you could recommend me to somethat that has WORKED for you I would so greatly appreciate it!:bouncy:
I don't have much experience with CD image emulation.

Clockwork Knight
Panzer Dragoon
Valkyrie Profile

Guilty Gear
I've never owned a Saturn or Dreamcast, couldn't get ahold of the GG X games, and VP everyone knows why.

OutRun 2. Never played it, cause the local arcade never got it, and I don't have an Xbox for the home version. I want to play it because it's the sequal to fucking OutRun!
I'm so happy that Outrun 2006 (basically Outrun 2 plus the "expansion pack") is coming to PS2 and PC in March. I'll buy it the day it comes out.

I've always wanted to play PDS since I hear its so good. I'm in the same boat as you OP.. I'd have to buy another system (saturn) AND spend a good $150 + for the game. IMO it isnt worth it to play one game.

I tend to agree with this statement. Particularly because the games that, with perspective, end up looking the worst (opinion) are usually the first from that first batch to do 3-d. PDS is one of those games that I've always wanted to play - heard it has a cool story, great CG, is really fun, but looking at those screenshots and system specs... it may look/perform worse than a PS1 3-d game.
I don't know, can't really speculate, as I haven't played it -- and I certainly would jump at the chance but those style of graphics don't hold the timelessness of good 2-d or even, I'll wager, contemporary 3d which is done much better.

My brother and I were smart enough to own a saturn during its semi heyday. Made playing PDS and Shining Force 3 much easier.

Policenauts - the followup to Snatcher.
This was announced for the Saturn and PS One but for various reasons it never came out. I would import the Japanese version but since it is text heavy I would need to learn a whole language to really enjoy the game.

Toejam & Earl 2, at least I don't think I ever played it. Toejam & Earl took up a good percentage of my childhood.
Just about every single console game that has come out in the last couple years I have purchased. Damn school! Damn professors! Damn homework! I'm hoarding for when I finish. Just a few more months.

The monkey island and leisure suit larry games. The old ones are tough to find for a cheap price. I have some of the later versions but never got to play the first ones. Also Resident Evil 4. I don't have a gamecube or ps2.

Killer 7 - mixed reviews combined with a lack of cash at the time

Both of the Fire Emblems for GBA and the one on GC: I always want to pick it up but always think to myself that there could be a place that sells it cheaper, except I never seem to find that "place"
Steel Battalion: I never got this because there wasn't enough space in my dorm room. Now that I have my own apartment, I haven't gotten it because I figure that it'd be better to buy 5 games with that money instead
Beyond Good and Evil - just like everyone else, never got around to picking it up
Missing (PC) - I want to play this because the concept by itself sounds really cool. There's always a better game to buy whenever I'm looking at PC games though

Panzer Dragoon Saga
I'm not willing to pay so much for a game, so I may never play it unless it gets a reprint or a stable Saturn emulator comes around. About a year ago I found 1 disc of the game in it's case @ a GameCrazy during the first 3 for $15 sale...

Guardian Heroes for the Saturn.I have a freakin Saturn, and I had it when this game came out, but I somehow never picked it up. I was too busy playing Six Men Scramble all day long on that Saturn...lol
Now the game is rare and expensive and I dont know if I'll ever get to play it! =(
I'd also like to try Radiant Silvergun. I love schmups, and Ive heard many people say that RS is the best schmup ever.

Damn, ya beat me to it -- except I never had a Saturn. That's the only game I feel I REALLY missed out on.
Baldur's Gate series on PC - I've played the console ones, but I bet it's tons better on PC. Always wanted to buy the collection, but haven't yet.

Worth every cent. I reluctantly picked it up for my birthday after some of my Live buddies gave it okay reviews. It was easily my favorite FPS last year. The single player isn't too long, but the humor really makes it enjoyable.

Baldur's Gate is a completely different game on PC, comparing it to Dark Alliance. I too want to buy the collection, but I'm just holding off for now.
There's mostly more PC games I'd like to play then console. I know there is a huge amount of classic rpg's on pc, my only problem is that it will take a lot out of me to get really into them. Old as in Wasteland and Eye of the Beholder stuff. I just need to be in a "mood".

Yes! Wasteland ROCKED! Anyone who can deal with rudimentary graphics (but some of the graphics kicked tho! Think Bardstale monster animations) married to a neat story and open ended gameplay should check this one out.
I never "owned" it. I pirated it when I was a young and evil child being raised by Gregory Peck.
You can find it on one of those online C64 emulators and being playing within minutes. :bouncy: No download needed.

Zelda: Wind Waker
I was waiting for the price to drop, but before it did, a bunch of message boards slammed it. A little later on I started to replay Mario Sunshine (which I bought on launch day and thought it was horrible because I wasn't very good with the waterpack) to realize that it was a fantastic title and that WW might be the same type of game where people just wanted an excuse to hate the game. Around this time, E3 showed off the trailer for the next Zelda and RE4 was supposed to be just around the corner. Time went by, the DS came out and I bought it. Now i'm in my final year of college, finance major at a tough school, with too much work to handle. I might not even buy the new Zelda when it finally comes out if it's too long.
