I just got my DS used, (though mint) and I don't have the intructions for it. So I was wondering how exactly the battery charger works. What I mean is, how do I know how charged up it is? When I had it plugged in there was an orange light. Does the light ever change color to indicate that it's fully charged? (I hear it goes red when it's running low)
Also, I've heard conflicting rumors about whether it hurts anything or not to unplug the AC mid-game. Can anyone confirm or deny these rumors? thanks.

You will know it is fully charged when the orange light turns off.

The orange light disappears when the DS is fully charged.
Unplugging the AC hasn't hurt my DS during a game. May be false, may be true, but that is the first I've heard of that rumor.

It's more a matter of how it affects the battery, and there was a discussion of whether the battery performed better/lasted longer if it was played till it needed to be recharged, played while plugged in, kept at around half charge... I don't know what came of that. I just play mine till the light comes on, then charge it overnight. Being close enough to an outlet to play while plugged in wouldn't be very convenient for me.

The lights can get a little confusing if you're playing while charging. It'll glow orange to show it's getting AC power/charging while also showing the green light on the right to indicate the system is on (that light also flashes if you're receiving WFC data).
The orange light won't go out while you're plugged in and still playing, even if the battery is completely charged.
And there you have it.

While charging the Orange Light is on, once it's done it turns itself off.
