Word on the street is that you can play emulators on PSP? What is the schpiel on this? For example, how would I get ZSNES to work on my PSP?

Much help appreciated.

ZSNES isn't compatible with the PSP, Snes9x_TYL v0.2c is currently the best SNES emulator for PSP.
Keep in mind that you have to have firmware 1.5 to use it.
(I think this may work with 2.00 if you use fanjita's eboot loader)

it's on the PSP, so it's okay. this seems to be the general consensus of forums every where(probably since moderators feel bad that we have no real games to play.) now, go to the xbox forum and mention a modded box and see what happens-- scorch will have your ass in a bear trap in 10 seconds flat! ;)

I heard a rumor that you can start a fire with two sticks and kindling. Also heard that you can make electricity with a balloon and your hair. Any info on this?

Can't be confirmed; as it doesn't for a lot of people. I enjoy it much more than my DS, but for my cousin who is 12 the PSP would be a horrible choice. I can't tell you how many times that I wanted to just smash my DS since the graphics are just awful or the games are just so kiddish; but Dual Strike keeps me from doing it since the game play is excellent on it; altough the English they use makes me want to punch every kid with his pants down below his butt; if I never see a " 'Sup " or "You been served" in a game again I will be very happy.

For me at 38, load times don't mean much since I came from thae days of 5 minute load times for old computers; I want a badass game, with badass graphics and sound. For my cousin who grew up with gameboys, the DS is perfect as he doesn't hace paintence for a 20 second load time much less 30 to 40 seconds and his parents would probably make him keep a PSP at home for fear that it would get stolen.

I may give animal crossing a try, I have some hope it will not be too kiddish.

So I guess nes, snes, saturn, psx etc. suck right?

Though what is this paintence you speak of?

Nope none of those suck, there are great games that are not overly kiddish on each and every one of those systems. And for their time, the graphics were incredible! Still today I admire Resident Evil on the PSX and Sonic on the Saturn. Nor did I say the NDS sucked, just that the graphics are awful when compared to the other next-gen portable on the market and its games are way too kiddish in general for my taste.

I personally own about every game hardware from the National Semiconductor's Adversary to the Xbox with the exception of the Vectrex, MSX, PS2 and GameCube. I don't play them as much as I used to and have them in A/C storage at a cost of $100 a month due to space restrictions (I love my games way too much), but I can appreciate games on each and every one of those systems.

I can enjoy playing an Atari 2600 game today, not as many as when I was a kid, but there are a few. I can still enjoy a game on my Sega Nomad or Atari Lynx, because at their time they were a leap above everything else.

For me the NDS is suppose to be cutting edge, the touch screen isn't a major plus in most games and the graphics pale in comparison to the PSP; they are not even close. But a strategy game does not require graphics as say a racer or shooter does. Just looking at the Sims on the two units and it’s apparent, madden shows a huge difference and King Kong between the two has a huge difference.

I do have hope for Resident Evil and even though I find in boring as hell, I am impressed by Nintendogs; the level of interaction is a step above the first game I played in this genre called "Little Computer People" which for its time (1985) was mind-blowing. I plan to buy Lunar Dragon Song and Lost Magic, both games that even though graphically may be subpar, they aren't the type of games you'd by for the graphics.

Maybe it’s not fair to compare the two system as they are VERY different and after playing some recent imports I can see Sony is getting their act together and there is a lot more depth and gameplay in the recent releases. Maybe if I got the NDS first I would feel differently; if it was the only next-gen portable on the market the graphics might not be so unimpressive.

Basically I see too many PSP games having great visuals, lots of eye candy but not much of a soul.... that can change, it is changing based on some of the imports I bought and the machine is impressive, Its Sony’s first attempt at a portable and they haven't reached a level I thought they would have by now. The flaws I see with the NDS can't be changed, since they are due to limitations of the hardware but that is not to say there won't be great games for it - but for someone to flat out say the PSP sucks is an opinion that shows no thought at all and that is what my original post was all about, it is way to general of a statement.

Now I do find it strange that the post I responded to used the word SUCKS and does yours... and it’s not a word I used in my original reply. Reason being is I don't think the NDS "sucks" as a whole, I think its hardware is not really next-gen when compared to the PSP, that side by side the graphics are awful compared to a PSP but rocks against a GBA; but I will also say that the PSP is a step (or two) behind the NDS on the quality of gameplay of its games although it appears they are fixing that; its not the machine but the people doing the games. On the NDS side of thos emaking the game, it seems that many of them go out of their way to make the games cute; that may not a bad thing if they want to aim the system at a very young market but it will turn off people my age who are still gamers and have a disposable income.

Each machine had its plus and minus side, the only reason I can see a person flat out saying one sucks is do to being a fanboy. I've never been much of a fanboy myself when it comes to games, the reason I still own and tonight was playing on my NDS.

Patience? Possibly it’s due to his age and expecting the instant gratification that the cartridges give, Hell I loose my patience waiting for a DVD movie to encode; so maybe it runs in the family.
