Just wanted to let you guys who still love their Dreamcasts that it will be shown on Icons today at 5 p.m. ET.
The show is entitled When Dreams Ruled Sega. It also says it will look back at the first shots taken in the console wars. Pretty cool. I'm there.
I can't get to the G4tv.com site to get more info, so if anyone would like to do that, it would be awesome.

I'm pretty sure Tech TV runs Icons now. I'm almost positive I saw an episode over the weekend.

Actually, for the past couple weeks, and leading up to the merged station, each channel has been playing two 1-hour blocks of the other channels programming, once at 5pm EDT and once at 10pm EDT. Granted this will all stop friday when it's just G4TechTV.

Yep. And his name was Bernie Stolar! (At least for the US it was.)

Nothing killed the Dreamcast deader than the 32x, Sega CD and Saturn. That track record was never going to overcome its greatness. Oh, and last but not least... they had no mainstream titles.

Anyone else here think the demise of the Dreamcast was a giant conspiracy...I can see it now...Sony secretly hires people to crack the codes of the Dreamcast so that games can be hacked and the system will die...
What do you think about that daphatty =)

Do you think it would have been better if they shopped at Foleys?

Shit, I missed it, too. I was thinking of ordering a copy from G4, though.

If the heads of G4 keep up with thier current programming tactics, it'll come on again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again.
(I couldn't resist... they repeat programming WAY too much, wonder how it'll be after the network merge)

I think the DC had a decent selection of Mainstream titles. Sonic,Capcom fighters,Soul Calibur,Quake3,SOF,SegaSports+other titles.

I agree. I think it was a lack of good advertising and the fact that Sega released the system in between generations. If they waited a bit and released a beefier system alongside the release of the PS2 and had more games available at launch or close to it, it would have been a lot better.
Remember, Sega had the best launch of any console in history. They were sold out all over America. The PS2 was sold out, too, but that's because they didn't have many available.
The Dreamcast made $97 million in sales in the first friggin' 24 hours! That proves right there that consumers were still willing to buy into Sega products. Sega did bad things after the launch and that's why their numbers began to decline.
Also, too many people were caught up in the PS2 hype. Remember its launch? It was ridiculous. The N64 may have had a better launch line up than the PS2 did.
