Legend of Mana is $39.95 at Squaresoft online store (http://squaresoft.com/seui/index.htm)
Not cheap and shipping sucks (and sloooooow), but still cheaper then getting one off fleabay.
They use frames, so I didn't link to exact item. Just Move your mouse over store, click on games link and either search for it or is listed in top sellers box on the right.
Just wanted to pass on a classic very rare game to my Cheap Ass Friends.
Cheers!

Not much of a cohesive story in this game, but it's fun.

Is this game better than Secret of Mana?
In my opinion, the games that came after Secret of Mana were not as good (read: fun), which includes Seiken Densetsu 3 (Super Famicom) and Legend of Mana (PlayStation).

Blah, ok, I'll skip this then. I have SD3 (JP version) but didn't like it either... maybe it was the fact I didn't understand a word of it :)

I don't think there is a greatest hits version. Plus, for $39.95 pretty much guarantees it not being greatest hits. The other known greatest hits on their website are the normal $19.95.
I don't think this is a re-release either. Do some searching. This game is no where to be found. I have been hunting months for this game. eBay is the only other source as far as I know and used copies sell for this.

Personally, I think Seiken Densetsu 3 is one of the best games for SNES. I did play the rom (I would never be able to find the actual cartridge), but there is a great advantage to that: a 100% translation was released a few years ago, so it's perfect for someone who isn't fluent in Japanese. The class system is excellent and it's a reason to actually play the game multiple times. I've never played Legend of Mana, so I can't comment on that.

I have a copy of this game and never really played it. The Secret of Mana (SNES) was one of my favorites. When I think of all the games I had and sold and now look at what they're worth now I just wanna cry. I'll never sell games again.

Legend of Mana is the Pilotwings of rpgs. Beautiful, indolent, and utterly charming. It's the exact same lazy sunday afternoon kind of attitude. I hold it to be the best game on the playstation. The game is divided into a number of different plot lines that each lead to the endgame. You basically run off accomplishing a bunch of quests that vaguely relate to some of the other quests getting access to more worlds after each quest until you are given access to the last world.
It really has nothing to do with Secret of Mana besides the similar battle systems. I think far too many people expected SD4 from this game, but whatever.

Pilot Wings (SNES & N64) is one of my favorite games EVER! Totally underated. My most sought after game besides another Earthbound is Pilot Wings for Gamecube or GBA.

I don't know about it blowing completely. I'm enjoying the copy that you traded to me. Though not as fun as SoM, it's not that bad of a game.

I love this game. You don't always need a cohesive story to have fun, and the game is just beautiful. The graphics in this game help me to remember that sprites can be far more emotive and expressive than 3D models. I still don't think I would pay more than around $20 for it though. So I'd skip this 'deal' if I were you. If you can find it at GameStop, though, I believe it is $25 used, and I'd say that's a fair price for it.

i could have owned this already, there's a copy at a Gamestop and EB near me used, but neither have their manuals, which is kind of important to me. that said, i'm definitely not about to spend that much on this game new.

I got this for 10.00 from K-mart last year, and in truth it was a huge waste of my 10.00, that's just me though. I wonder why this game is getting so much $$ now. Anywho , I hope you enjpy it.

Yeah I didn't like it either. Maybe I just expected too much, who knows? When did this game become rare anyways? When I got it it wasn't expensive at all.

I have the guide too and have read the beginnings of it. The game sounds great and I for one can't wait to start it up! Where were you guys when I was asking to buy a couple copies of this game?! I would have easily payed $20-$40 for a nice copy.

I actually liked this game a lot.
Whoever said it was the perfect Sunday game is totally right. It has lots of different quests that eventually lead up to the end. There's a lot of "activity" type stuff you can do like making instruments, weapons, golems, raising monsters, chocobos, etc. There's also like a million skills and spells and varities of things to do in the game. It doesn't have a cohesive story though so beware.

I ejoyed it actually. Don't treat the game like secret of mana. It's more like your saturday cartoons where there's different plots every week that have this subtle link between them. And when guest appearances return later on in other episodes you get happy.
Plus, it is freaking addicting trying to figure out the best placement for world to max out mana to build your uber weapons. =)
And the music rocks and so does the art. Yes, story is not final fantasy but like the dude said above, a great game on a lazy afternoon.

That is certainly an opinion.
I preordered the game back when it came out at eb. I ended up returning it for Vagrant story... and was even more dissatisfied with it. But i had played thru about %50 of Mana, and was not satisfied.

Look at completed items. Then look at ones that are complete and not beat up and scratched or missing the manual. Average (emphasis on the average!) price I see is $35-$45.

I'm surprised this game is "rare'". I'd suggest keeping your eyes open at places like K Mart and Target because I know I"ve seen a copy or two in the last few months at one of those places.

Talknig about classic SNES games such as Secret of Mana(awesome game) is another game that many might not be familair with, Secret of Evermore(made by Squaresoft). This game is awesome I beat it four times, and is similair in battle system such as SoM. I still have my copy of it.

Secret of Evermore is an Embarrassment to all games created.
I don't know what I was thinking the day I asked mommy for this, but I wish I would have gotten something a little more fun. Maybe a pair of socks perhaps. I can't believe I still own this piece of trash.

Secret of Evermore was made by americans, and it shows why americans should not try to make RPGs and stick to sports games.
