So I wanted to play a few songs today, as I do several days each week...
...to find that my fucking whammy bar isn't working!?!? Has anyone else read/experienced this?

If you read through the manual for the guitar they kind of tell you they made the whammy bar crappily. It says something about the whammy bar not intended for extensive use or some BS like that.
Edit- Found it but its in the actual game's instruction booklet. Pg. 4 "Excessive Use of the Whammy Bar Can Cause it to Break".

ya, whatever, thats why you score higher when you wiggle the whammy bar faster rite? What a crock of crap, what do they really think extensive use is?

I think your best bet would be to go to forum.guitarherogame.com (the offical game forums) and ask there. Either another member or someone from RO would probably help you fix it.

Thanks Logain, I just looked around there earlier. I opened up the guitar, fiddled around the the inside of the whammy bar area (it isn't physically broken at all, so I hope I didn't imply that in the OP; it just wasn't registering in the game - like any button press in Superman 64).
It appears to be working now. My problem now is that I want to cut up a real guitar and put the GH guts in it (someone's sig has a GH controller built into a flying-v!)

Haha, ok, that made me laugh. :)

reading the thread title, i pictured the whole guitar being bent in half...maybe from smashing it in excitement at the end of a song? i've thought about it

I was feeling more inspired by Ralph Wiggum's "I bent my wookie."

That's how I read the title.

My PS2 just put two huge circular scratches through my Guitar Hero disc, rendering it unplayable.
Few times in my life have I ever seriously wanted to end something or someone. End, as in literally obliviate. Wipe from existence.
Who, or whatever is responsible for my PS2's grave malfunction tonite will know the name of Ledhed, and know it well. For it will be their End.
/rant, goddamn I am so mad right now like, Jesus, that's mad

That f'ing sucks Led =( No one should be deprived of rockitude. Try taking it to a Gamecrazy and springing for the buffering service...might not work to fix the disc, but it's worth a shot.

I don't have a GameCrazy anywhere in town, but thankfully there are a couple of independent stores with buff machines I can take it to. I'm gonna call around to some GameStops tomorrow and see if I can't just swap it out, but if that becomes a no-go, buffing it is.

Hmmm, I don't really use my whammy bar much cause I usually don't like the way it makes the notes sound. I'm more concerned with hitting the notes and getting stars than the actual point score.

SEE! I told people that the PS2 did the same thing as the 360 but no one was believing me! I knew I wasn't the only one! The problem with the PS2 is that will just randomly do it, it has nothing to do with moving it while playing. I feel your pain though cause my PS2 did the same thing to one of my DVDs.

That's exactly what I did. Makes the songs load up before the second dial on the amp hits "11" as well which is a nice bonus.
The only thing that sucks is having to boot HDLoader with my Logitech controller (I always stop the disc from spinning before I play) and then swap that out for the guitar controller. Man, when did I start getting this fucking lazy?

USE D Skins. I would never play another game without a d skin on it ever again.
