So discuss and talk about love/hate of this upcomming remake... or whatever...

lol... yeah, I was even alone on Metal Gear Acid 2... oh well... you can't make everyone else like what you like :P
Actually, probably the two most ambituose products for the PSP (Post GTA:LCS) would have to be this game and Metal Gear Acid 2... both of them have had alot of time into developing them

yeah, in some ways it's more appealing than jacking cars... It's kinda funny that almost everyone wanting it never played the first one...
the thing that gets the FTW for me on this game is the downloadable quests and downloadable extras... Plus the deep customization and teamplay.

well, the ps2 version, i remember, was $50 for surprisingly long, even though it had mediocre reviews. Everyone (well, me) expected it to fall to $20 eventually, but instead it just suddenly disappeared.
i remembered reviews saying it was repetetive, but with a game on the go, that usually is not much of a problem. all it really has to be is a fixed PSO (i once fell asleep playing PSO offline... never got my dreamcast hooked online) and ill bite

well, what else can you do as a Monster Hunter  kill, eat, kill, make armor, kill, eat armor... etc. But some games just are more enjoyable on a portable... even if it's exactly the same as a console version. This one is Monster Hunter G + a little more + downloadable quests. Never played the first, so I have a good enough excuse to pick this up. It's the first PSP game I really don't care if I pay $50 for it... oh wait nvm... its' $40

This game should be really good since it supposedly fixes all of the original's problems, but what's far more interesting in the Capcom Six is Capcom Classics Collection Remixed. Final Fight, 3 Wonders, Strider, Captain Commando, Street Fighter II, 1941, and others whereever I go? Awesome.

actully people are saying it's impoved alot more since online has been removed. You can play with friends in all missions, but it's not as necessary as before. Personally I like it like this, but that's me... not to mention I hate playing with people who have no life and love to show off all the crap they can do or have.

Sad news that the game has been pushed to May 30th I think... no reason for the delay unless it's the translation issues. Who knows.. might be them adding infostructer mode.

RelentlessRolento

this one has modified single player. Single player is a larger focus on this one, so they made almost all the missions specificly for single player, but they are possible to play multiplayer. If this is a good seller, then you might not have a hard time playing multiplayer.

Agreed.
However, I've read in several reviews that the game can be very tough, when it comes to fighting the big monsters, and having no friends to help. They say that the game is geared towards multiplayer, but bc it only supports ad hoc, many of the monsters are nigh invincible when you fight them alone. I don't have any friends who own a PSP, so that pretty much ruins it for me.

I think in general it's a difference in tastes between the Japanese and domestic audiences. The PS2 Monster Hunter was pretty popular there, but did pretty poorly here, IIRC.

It's a really tough game actually... Initally it's a pain, but I keep learning new hunting techniques and it's slowl getting easyer. Flash bombs, paintballs, and small timed bombs seem to help quite a bit. I never thought I'd use them, but now they are a must.

I would rent it first or try it out from someone... it's really either hit or miss. If you ask most gamers they either love or hate this game. The best way to describe this way is it's more like SimCity, The Sims, or Animal Crossing (open-ended gameplay with no real "goal" or "end"). Infact the best way to describe it is "The Sims" where you try and upgrade your character as much as possible by accomplishing quests and missions in the game. You get items to create weapons/armor which helps you fight bigger monsters in different areas, etc. The graphics are AMAZING. Easily the best looking game on the PSP by far, you'll swear youre playing a PS2 game. However the downside to the awesome graphics are the frequent but brief loading times. Everytime you enter a new area of a map (desert, forest, jungle, volanco, etc.) you encounter a brief 5-second loading screen. It's actually for the best that there is constant loading for each new area. It prolongs the battery life by not having to mass loading information, there's NO slow down while fighting, and the graphics and enviornments are unreal for a portable system.
Summary: The gameplay isn't great and it has some issues. Once you get past that and learn how to work with it the game is seriously fun and addicting. Plus the graphics and audio are the best a portable system has ever seen.

SO far i finally beat a Garuga which took me about 3-4 days to realize how to defeat. I got some sweet armor that looks like a total ripoff of Onimusha armor and am enjoying the farming very much. I quick and cheap way to improve your farm is to buy 99 huskberrys and sell them and repeat... you get a ton of poitns doing so and it's quick. Also, the best way to make quick money is to do a 2 star elder quest where you have to kill 1 velodrome.
karsh
05-30-2006, 10:47 PM
One of the best ways to get money is, when you reach the point you can kill YKK easily, do the 2* quest in the Jungle (or the 2* against BKK in the Forest and Hills if you can) and just sell EVERYTHING you get from the quest and the carves. Even in the PS2 version I go on Kut-Ku runs to rake in money. It's how I got my 60,000 z to pay off upgrading my rusted GS to the last step.
RelentlessRolento
05-30-2006, 11:37 PM
Most of the early wyvern fights tend to be a bitch, but even as they get more powerful, it get's slightly easyer since you have more choices of items to use later... I'm almost at 5 star elder quests, but not yet. THe pig kicks ass though ;)

Is this the kind of game where when you die, the game is over and you have to load from your last save? Or when you die, you keep some stuff that you collected before dying?

There's been so many complaints about the camera. Is that an issue with you guys?
Jeremy
Not really all you have to do is hit L and the camera faces where your guys face is facing

No when you die you start off back in base camp in the quest. If you die 3 times however you fail the quest and are sent back to kokoto village. The things you collected before you die stay with you. However when you fail the quest I believe all of the items you found are taken away.

Ya know, I read all these complaints about the camera in MH when it first came out, and I've never seen it. The camera isn't the best, but it's not as horrible as people make it out to be. So now with MHF, I'm so used to the camera, it totally doesn't bother me at all.

I actually enjoy the death system in MHF... it's a hard as hell game, but the game never gets too harsh on you for dying, other than cash rewards getting slimmer, which is even then no biggie.

Couple questions. How's the Wi-Fi on it and with any of the WiFi games if you have the PSP USB mic can you communicate with other gamers with it?

Damn that eliminates me buying it. Shit like Wi-Fi IS the draw for games like this.

I actually enjoy it without the wifi. It's more of a challenge/skill based game due to this.

I really need to get back on playing this game. It's been awhile since I've charged my PSP, so I haven't played it, plus having bought Steambot Chronicles, Titan Quest, and Table Tennis, I haven't had much time to play MH:F.
