So, Brak's mom was doing my taxes yesterday, and emailed me back with this question:
Filing jointly as a married couple using 1040 is fine and dandy, and pretty damned easy. But now that your wife has a business license, and business expenses to deduct, how in the hell do you go about that kind of thing?
I know you saved receipts, but by having deductions, does this increase the complexity of filing federal taxes? Can you still use the 1040, or are there more complicated forms now?
And I said, "WOMAN! SHUT UP AND DO MY TAXES! "TRADING SPACES" IS ON!"
So, lighthearted story aside, I am curious about whether or not I can still do our taxes with ease this year. In short, can I do my taxes myself still, or should I consult an accountant (I'm not white trash, so I refuse to go to H&R Block)?
