I prefer reading books on paper pages, it's easier on my eyes and is much more portable.

uhh these things can be portable man, it's called PDF and I know a lot of people have PDA's and portable systems.
Okay I have a perfect book everyone would love here, it's a PS2 repair Guide.

I don't care for ebooks, personally. But college textbooks as ebooks would have been great, and a whole lot cheaper. What do you mean by this site could use it?

I'm not sure how we would benefit from using eBooks here. I'm intrigued though, so please explain what you mean before I move this to a different forum.

Yes, I own a notebook, is a notebook as portable as a book? No. And it is still harder on my eyes than pages. Anyway, yes, a collection of good e-books would probably be a nice addition, maybe we could start with a thread in the Off-topic forum asking for people to post their favorite e-book resources.

If they weren't completely crippled by DRM, I'd consider them if they were cheaper. I want to be able to read MY books whenever I want, wherever I want, for as long as I want, as many times as I want, and I want to be able to lend or sell my books.
What a lot of ebook companies are trying, are college textbooks that expire when the semester is over. I don't like that at all.
If you're talking PDF's, those aren't so bad. If I had a small, portable, cheap device to read them on, that would be ok.

I prefer a good old fashion book. I dont think the eBooks concept will take off. Of course, I was wrong with books on tape.,

I read quite a few ebooks on my N-Gage while in Iraq.
One really great short story I read was Sandkings. Very good read.

In their current form, I agree... but with future developments in e-paper leading to highly portable and easy to read material.. I could imagine them becoming a more popular trend.
Of course I really don't want to have to recharge my book..

Ha, I absolutely agree. College books are ridiculous. I bet many are available as ebooks, but having them expire is stupid.

I have read a few from the following sites. Not the best selection but they both have some classics:
