I wonder if 2K will do a game since they have the exclusive MLB deal.

They should, 2K should release games for every system, even the DS since they have no competition accept for MLB on PSP and PS2 (and I guess if Nintendo ever comes out with Pennant Chase Baseball(

How the shit is that possible when 2K Games has an exclusive MLB contract? SCEA can't even do a college game because EA has that locked.

The MLB license exclusivity is only for 3rd party developers. Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft can release MLB games for their own systems. I think I read that in so many words, 2K games didn't want to piss off the system manufacturers by getting a total exclusive license like EA did with the NFL so 2K will allow the console manufacturers to make MLB games.

That's interesting. Does the same apply to the EA/NFL/NCAA deal?

Nope.
EA has complete exclusive rights to NFL/NCAA/ESPN
Sega could only afford the 3rd party rights, which in the end, means the NON-EA rights. Its hurts everyone. Last year was an awesome sports year because there was so much competition and low prices.
In fact, Im pissed at EA for grabbing the NFL rights from Sega but at the same time Im mad at Sega for taking the MLB rights. MVP baseball was awesome and MLB 2K is merely blah. In fact, MLB by SCEA is actually pretty decent these days and I might just go that route. PSP has 2 baseball games this year. Tough choices. Hopefully they both come out at low prices.
NCAA basketball is still up for grabs but honestly SCEA made shitty college games.
