8.0 at 1up. It did a lot better than I expected it to.

I have it reserved and almost paid off (like...$5 left), but I think I'm going to cancel since a friend of mine decided not to get it. The whole point of me wanting it was multiplayer
And just because it got a 7.0 doesnt mean its bad. Did you expect a port of a 10 year old game to get any higher?
Guess I might send my preorder money over to MGS3: Subsistence.

Didn't you buy a DS to get this game?

Actually I did
(and I am currently trying to sell my DS now...Sonic Rush was fun, as was Castlevania, so I guess I got something out of it)
But I mainly wanted it for the multiplayer, but now I'm not so sure about it being worth the money for just the single player part (which I could either play on the PS1 or GC).
I still want it since it is, a portable Resident Evil game...but $35....maybe if they have the free T-Shirt on Wednesday, but otherwise...that MGS3 "Existence" and "Saga" discs are pretty tempting, plus I'm trying to cut back on the games.

I probably will be getting this in the next couple weeks. Not this week just because I have so much stuff on my plate already.
what is the MSRP on this anyway?

I think I'll pass for now not because of the reviews but I just have to many other games to play.

I'm going to pick it up as soon as I finish a couple other games I have. I'm really starting to get backlogged, plus by holding off for a bit I might be able to get it cheaper.

This is a remake of Resident Evil from Playstation days?
If so, that's news to me. I wonder what the controls are like compared to the Playstation. If they are anything like the Playstation version I have zero interest. Those controls drove me nuts.

Selling systems is usually a big mistake, unless it's something like PS1 or Gameboy where the newest iteration has BC. Trust me, you may want it again somewhere along the line.
I remember I sold my SNES to my friend to get an N64. A couple years later I had to track him down and beg for him to sell it back to me. heh. That's when I learned my lesson..

Yeah, but something tells me the DS is only going to go down in price, especially with the new version coming out...

I have it preordered from buy.com so I will get it hopefully friday. I will let you know what I think then. If you really think about it a 7.0 for a 10 year old game is amazing.

I never liked the original Resident Evil. Too hard to control for my tastes. I'll wait for this to drop before I consider it.
I do want to grab Rub Rabbits and Super Princess Peach, though...

I'm thinking of picking it up... maybe if Target knocks a chunk off the price like they tend to do the weekend after a release. Otherwise I'll try to pick it up on the cheap in a month or two.
I'm interested in reading the impressions our fellow CAGS have of the title.

Definately picking this up... I can grab Rub Rabbits and Drill Dozer in the bargain bin in a few months.
I really do want both games... but Feel the Magic is in bargain bins everywhere, so I doubt the sequel can rise up and overcome and Drill Dozer is so far under the radar for a Nintendo game its not even funny.

For someone who's never played any RE games, could someone try to explain the issue people have with the control scheme?

hmm, its a pretty standard for survival horror (before survival horror became Action-Horror in RE4). So you should find a similar thing if you've ever played Parasite Eve, Silent Hill, MAYBE Koudelka.
The screens are static and the direction your character moves are dictated by the orientation of the screen, so up is not always up on the d-pad/stick. In fact, you could be running up by holding down up, and then the next static screen would be at the opposite angle, making you immediately turn around and exit that screen the instant you came across it.
Come to think of it, I think it made it to where I would actually stop at the beginning of each screen to catch my bearings before I moved.
They like to think they are cinematic and fancy and give you all sorts of wacked out camera angles.
The system in which you fought things made you kind of a wimp, so running was much of a realistic option than in RE4, where you are so badass you can take down any size horder.
Actually Actually....The controls for RE4 feel very similar to the previous series. You have to stop before you could shoot. Its just that the camera angle is always over your shoulder to prevent that awkwardness that was present in the previous entries in the series.

Oh, is that all? I had imagined it being a whole lot worse.
Yeah. I haven't played much survival horror, but I've played a few games set up like that (mostly on the PC) so I would probably tend to do the pause at each new screen as well.

I was reading the news article over at PlanetGameCube and it said the Top screen was for seeing your health. Bottom screen was for the actual game, think that's right. My question is, can you reverse this? Or make it where only 1 screen is lit, while the other is blank? Thanks.
I know on Ridge Racer DS it's hard to concentrate on the road, because the bottom screen steering wheel distracts me (wish you could turn it off).

I doubt you can switch the screens as there's a touch screen knife mechanic that's (at least a little) important.

You're right, but I like to support good, original games by buying them when they first come out. Ports of ten year old games.... I'll wait to buy cheap or used or whatever.

Remember, if this sells well, expect more REs or other games like it on DS in the future.

I checked my order status at buy.com. First thing it says is that it was sent to the warehouse for shipping. Then I click my order and it says on order, then I click the title and it says releases feb 8th. wtf?

Heh, I have to see if I will have enough GR credit to cover all three of the games mentioned in addition to preordering Odama, Tales of Phantasia, and Super Princess Peach. Though since I haven't even played Feel the Magic yet, I can probably at least wait on Rub Rabbits till I do.
Finally got around to watching one of the IGN videos for RE and it actually looks pretty decent. I might be buying up the GC series at this rate (though 2 and 3 are inordinately expensive).

Hmm. I'm deciding what to do right now.
I want to buy Rub Rabbits, this, and Princess Peach this month. I loved Feel The Magic, but that's bargained everywehre now, so I might hold off on Rub Rabbits. As for this, well, I've enevr played any RE games at all, so I think this;ll be my first. Peach will be a release week buy for me.
