Looking forward to this sequel, but I'm wondering if you guys know if anyone is having a deal regarding this one? I'm not much of a preorderer, but I figure it'll be about the same price anywhere.

What I'm really looking for a is a cool preorder incentive. You know, the usual watch, keychain, shirt kinda stuff. Know of any nifty preorder gifts?

Wait to see if Outpost comes up with something good near its launch?

How about a DVD with all the cutscenes from Kingdom Hearts? Oh wait, I already have that. I do hope they come up with a good bonus, though. Maybe a comic that tells the story of Chain of Memories?

Nice ava z-saber :p

I'm expecting some sort of soundtrack for this one. Or some "making-of". What is the typical thing included with square-enix games, nothing usually right?

Nothing, because the game can sell on name only.

Preorder bonuses are generally extra incentives to get those on the fence about a game... something like Kingdom Hearts 2 is so huge people will preorder it regardless.

Typicall Square-Enix, it needs nothing to push the sale.

On of those CGI DVDs that are always on eBay? I've always wandered how those are.

No, it's not one of those. Just something a fan made and sold online.

Ah, okay.

Now that I think about your comic idea, I can tell you that it won't happen. I'm sure it will be covered in the manga. Maybe they could do promo copies of volume one of the manga.

I've heard a little about these trade-in deals at GameRush, but not enough to know anything. Are you saying trade in any two games? Or is it limited to certain games? I don't have a GameRush too close by to go check it out myself.

If nothing else pops up, we may have a winner.

Hope they refine the gameplay in the sequel. I am about 10 hours in and I am loving the presentation, but hating some of the more tedius mini-games, a few of the platforming sections, and the combat is a little boring.

I didn't know the KH manga was coming out in the States! I should import it...

But yeah, after the first manga arc, there's a second series based on CoM. It'll probly come out eventually through Tokyopop if the first series is selling ok.

Oh and I bought the game back on Dec 22nd (the Japanese drop date) from a convenience store (only place that carries games in my podunk town) and I got a pretty cool desk calendar for free.

Its like a plastic stand with several picture cards, each with 2 months on the side.

Oh and the game is AMAZING. Get it as soon as you can!
Hell I might play through it again in English just to figure out some of the minor things I couldn't figure out in the Japanese version.

You should probably read some reviews of the import from gamerankings.com. I read a couple and here's what I know. If you didn't like the first one, you won't like the second one, plain and simple. Of course the combat system has many changes and improvements, but essentially it is still running up to and guy and pressing a button or two. The mini-games are for the most part well done, but a couple just downright suck. The story is very satisfying and conclusive.

All that being said, I loved the first game and will likely adore the second one. Chain of Memories, on the other hand, was probably the most disappointing game of my life. I really wanted to love it, because of how awesome the original is, but it just sucks.

I'm sure what little additions there are to the story in Chain of Memories will likely be in Kingdom Hearts II, but I'd say just read a summary on teh intarweb. The game isn't worth the purchase.

I think they should give the manga free in a box. They boxed Star Ocean and Dragon Quest, they should do it here too.

hey does anyone know if they're gonna have the same promtional event at the metreon like they did for the first KH? if you didn't know, there was an event at the metreon where we got to meet 2 of the voice actors. David Gallagher, and Hayden Panettiere. And the best part was we got bags with a bunch of cool stuff. the best thing was a FF VIII OST. that was pretty awsome. I hope they do it again. they tend to have these events for some of their games. i dont think they have done any in a while. i only remember they did this for FF IX and KH.

I can't believe this fell down to page 4.

Anyways, the only deal I've found for preorder is at Gamestop where you can preorder the limited edition strategy guide (for $28). The guy at GS didn't know what would be included (maybe soundtrack?). Otherwise, is there anything else?

The deal I went for was with Overstock.com using the 10% off/free shipping coupons in this thread: http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=86503

It came out to about $40, not great but not too bad!

Ill tell you now there will be no preorder bonus through GStop or EBGames, and I doubt anywhere else.. Reasons stated earlier.. Its a game that is selling by name already..

Its at about 250-280,000 Preorders compnay wide for EB/GS

(Zelda is at 500k+ :o)

I'm still trying to decide that myself. It's supposed to have the same stuff as the standard guide plus a different cover and an artbook. I particularly like Nomura's work so it may be worth it. Thing is I usually don't buy or use strategy guides. I like them cheap-as-free FAQs.

Speaking of FAQs, some dude at the GameFAQs KH2 board apparently got an early copy of the game and posted some pictures and videos. He probably got it from a journalist friend or something. I don't think we'll see a widespread downloadable leak of the game this close to the release, but it's still possible.
