Hey guys, I need your opinions on this matter. I'm thinking about moving out my PS2 for possibly a PSP. I have an XBox now and all the games I enjoy playing on the PS2 are also on the XBox.

So, I'm condering if I should just trade it in with everything or bite the bullet and sell it on EBay. I have the system, net adapter, headset (for SOCOM and SOCOM II), 3 controllers, mem card, original box, and between 20 - 30 (old - somewhat newer) games. I called EB and they said they'd give me something like $50 for the unit, but I'm seeing where people are getting $50 for a BROKEN PS2 on EBay. My concern is that I've never sold on EBay so I'm faced with a learning curve.

Anyway, your info is appreciated.

Thanks,

Crim

i've sold my ps2 3 times, then something cool comes out like DMC3 Special edition or Colossus, and the next thing I know, i own one again.

but I'd ebay it, if anything. take a clear picture, describe everything as is with no BS and you'll probably get a decent chunk of change for it. Even more if you piece out the games. Sell the newer more expensive ones separate, throw in a few good ones with a bunch of old ones with the system, and you'll be rich.

Thanks for the tips. The newer games I've got are stuff like Mortal Kombat: Deception, POP:WW, Kingdom Hearts, GTA: SA and VC ... stuff that's a year or two old but still great games none the less. I've also got some great older games like Twisted Metal Black, Wipeout Fusion, DDR Extreme with mat, and the Eye Toy. I think I may EBay it; I'm keeping an eye on some setups like mine to see what kind of dollar they bring. I would like to get $200 + for the setup but I may have to piece meal it to achieve that ... we'll see.

Thanks for the reply though.

I would guess a system with over 20 games and accessories would easily go over $200, but definitely research.

You can check out completed auctions. On the left hand column of eBay's search results choose the Completed Items checkbox and show results. That way you don't have to manually watch auctions as they end.

Wow, didn't realize I could go through older auctions like that! That's gonna definately save me some research time. Thanks for the tip, I can also see if there's a pattern to when the highest bids come in too.

Well this might help - in October of last year I sold my slim PS2 plus 5 games (which included both God of War and a disc-only mint Marvel vs Capcom 2) plus a memory card, wireless Logitech controller, and brand new PS2 dual shock for $200. I sold it over Craigs List - no listing fees and didn't have to deal with shipping, just had to drive somewhere to meet the person and that was it.

I just repurchased a fat PS2 from my friend for $60. We did some research before he sold it to me and we found that most good working fat PS2s can be purchased for $80 or less at most pawn shops and they usually have a ton of them. So if you figure the used memory card is worth $15-ish, the controllers are $30 total for all 3, and the network adapter is $10, you should be able to get at LEAST $115 for the setup without even including any games.

i dont know if you sold it on ebay or not, but do sell it on ebay you will make alot more money than taking it to EB or Gamestop.

Well, I've sold off 5 of my games and so far have pulled in $100 from Ebay. There's no doubt in my mind that it's better to sell this stuff on there than to get screwed like a prom date from EBs.
