Check Nintendo.com and they have the component cables in stock for the Gamecube. Price comes to $35 shipped to most places. It is better than buying one used on ebay for the same price or even higher, these cables are hard to find.
is there a way to see if your cube can use the cable?

Yeah, look at the back of it.

Yes he is right. If your cube is compatible it will have a Digtital AV out plug in right next to the Analog AV out plug in.

Anybody know if the Revo will support Progressive Scan for Gamecube games? I'm tempted to buy these but if the Revolution is capable, then I'll just wait for that.

God it's a sad commentary on Nintendo when this is news.

I'm looking at the Revolution option as well but if the Revolution offeres no HD support I'm guessing it won't do 480p . We really don't know do we?
So, do you order this now and keep the Cube or wait and hope the Revolution's cables do 480p. It's only $35 so I'm thinking order now. After all there's been nothing about a GBA player for the Cube and I use that as much as I play Cube games.

Yes it will, and it will be standard.
A quote from Shigeru Miyamoto going on record as saying, "The majority of people won't be playing our system with an HDTV, though with the Revolution, 480p resolution will be standard."

So has anyone purchased a non-digital-out Gamecube and traded it for a digital-out Gamecube from Nintendo? I may make this its own topic.

I sold mine for the simple reason i am thinking that this will be the cable that comes with the revo....
If thats the case I could hook my cube up with that at a later date.

Thats what they had originally offered and it was supposed to be a free option to boot.

Revo will support 480p which is the highest any GC game supports. I'm really hoping that Nintendo uses the same ED (enhanced definition, 480p is not HD) port as the GC for the Revo... I don't see why they wouldn't since the Revo and GC both support the same ED standard and these cables are damn expensive.

I actually just received my cables I ordered yesterday. I hooked up the little purple cube and the games just jumped off my screen. The colors and resolution looked fantastic. Mario Kart DD was great last night. I think the little cube has now been resurrected and I will start playing some of my back catalog. I high recommend the cables to anyone with 480P capabilities.

I bought a new Gamecube around Christmas, and didn't know it wouldn't support proscan. So, I called Nintendo. They sent a prepaid UPS label, and I switched my new system for the older digital-out model at no cost (besides a couple of weeks without a Gamecube).
The replacement unit I received may be refurbished, but I sure can't tell. Looks brand new to me.

That's good to hear, I need to do that too.

I should add that the CS rep told me the same 1-year warranty applies to the replacement system. Thanks, Nintendo!

They stopped putting the digital outputs on the GCN?
I have a launch period one, when did they change?

I would order one if I had more component inputs on my TV. I only have 2 and my cable box and DVD player are taking them up. I sure as hell don't want to buy a component switcher for one system (the PS2 through component looks likes ass for most games).

It looks like they removed the digital video output in May, 2004, (http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/nintendogamecube/component_faq.jsp) claiming that less than 1% of buyers actually used it.
An understandable move, I guess, if a bit too cheapass. Maybe that figure would be a little different today if people still had the option.

You also may or may not know that the media got a hold of that info and proclaimed that Nintendo had stopped production of the cube and was doomed...
They are the only vendor to sell the cables since that is the case they can monitor the ratio and maybe another few would ahve jumped on.... but its not like its not an option for any cube owner at this point...
As mentioned above its a free trade up to the ED supporting cube.

Awesome. Thanks op, though I wanted a box for my accessory, to display it among my other complete stuff.
Ah well, I guess I'll keep the plastic bag it came in.

Curious. Nintendo's online store now lists the component cables as no longer available. Not out of stock, but not available anymore.

I hope that means that the Revolution will come with the cables standard. In that case it's odd that they'd stop making and selling them, though.

No...that's how it was listed in January until they got more in stock in February. Just an odd way of listing it.
Maybe they only make a limited production run of them at a time and monitor hits to the item page to determine the number to make for each batch?
Either way, I highly suggest getting one if you have the display capabilities.

Yarrr, me too. I'll have to use them on my roommate's big TV instead of the old set but I cannot complain.

That has to be the oldest number ever. It hasn't changed in so long. I believe it was in Punch-out!!
