The prices on Amazon and Ebay have gone up quite a bit for what I always thought was a pretty common game.

What gives?

Dumb stupid fanboys, that's all. Probably spurred by Advent Children.

I've got FF7 and FF8 non-GH at home... I never finished either of them but I don't really like RPGs...

Yeah, sequel/tie-in hype usually does this to the more popular previous installments of a series. Also see Castlevania Aria of Sorrow just before the release of Dawn of Sorrow.

Yeah I actually wanted to get FF7 but when I found it GS wanted $24.99 used for the GH version so I passed. I really liked the game but Im not paying a ridicilous price for it.

I went to sell off my sealed copy a while back and was amazed at how much it was going for. Pretty retarded if you ask me.

I need to get a new copy of FF7 myself since my disc kinda looks like they are melting. I need to re-buy it again.

I discovered this phenomena when I was in digging in the basement I found my PC edition of FF7 (complete)and I sold it on half.com for $50 (I paid $7 for it). Then I listed my sealed GH PS1 copy of the game (purchased at Gamecrazy for $10 about 18 months) on Amazon and someone bought it (a month ago) for $70 . . .

Hard to turn down money like that for a game I'd like to play but don't have the patience (or time) for anyway.

Damn now thats just impressive. Sealed GH fetching that much...I don't even want to think what a sealed black label will get

Wow! This is amazing. I bought mine on launch day with guide. My brother destroyed it, literally. Got a replacement for pennies on the dollar.

Final Fantasy IX should be selling for more. By far the better of the 3 Playstation Final Fantasy games in my opinion.

I'd sell mine if I didn't love the game so much.

On ebay I saw a sealed black label go for I think like $224 shipped. Insane price. I might pick up a black label at my gamestop now.

A sealed black label went for $400 or $500 last year (!!!!!!). Thats fucking crazy, my friends.

As for FF VII.... All my EB's that I go to have a few copies of it, but its $24.99. I wouldent say its rare at all, the prices are just inflated. It was going for $12.99 used at EBGames last year.

Also, I see black labels all the time. Only sealed black labeled ones are rare.

It will be available in the future . . . I'm sure I'll get it again someday (say, GH mint complete) for far less than then the $70 I got for my sealed one.

Seems like the PC version is selling for higher now if it's complete:

Holy hell, I shudder to think what price it would fetch if I sold my copy, mint and complete, with the watch that Best Buy had a mail-in offer for when it first came out.

Edit: Not to mention the t-shirt EB Games was giving away for preorders, or the nearly 6-foot tall store display for it...

FFVIII is the game that requires a remake.

Seeing Squall's emo facial expressions would be priceless.

Unfortunately mine was the later release (kind of a greatest hits packaging) . . . so my $50 (for the PC game) was pushing it. The original is pushing toward $100

I still don't understand why the PC version was worth so much... it's such a piece of shit given the sound and graphical issues.

There's a hack that allows you use cut-scene and battle models all the time instead of the chibi doll models.

was I seeing things, or did a copy of this game (PS1) go for over $100 on Ebay a couple days ago?

seems like the prices are back to "normal" now though.
