I wonder what GameSpot will give it...
Regardless, I can't wait to buy this on Tuesday. I downloaded the demo late, 'cos it didn't sound too interesting, initially... after playing the demo, I've been eagerly awaiting the release date.

Looks good, but saving money after anime DVD's and a new video card in March, damnit.

I thought the graphics were unbelievable. I haven't really read the review yet, but from what I played in the demo, it felt like my boxer was punching air. It just didn't have that ummph, so to speak, that other fighting games have. Maybe I'm comparing it to the wrong games, because i've never played the previous Fight Nights. The only time it felt like I got that "ummph" was the final blow when the slow motion was turned on.

The game would be more... exciting -- I guess -- if the impacts felt / looked more devistating... but boxing is pretty much represented perfectly in Fight Night Round 3. Other fighting games (DOA, Street Fighter, etc.) are caricatures of actual fighting... if you were to deck a boxer in the face, with a glove on, the impact would be far less devistating than you'd think; especially with boxer's stances, allowing them to take hits.
Once you get a combo going, in FNR3, and the opponent begins to lose his stance, the punches get more and more impactful -- like in real life.

I loved the demo, and i've had it on preorder for awhile. People say it's slow, but I think it's perfect. The pace in boxing isn't lightning fast, and you actually do notice your boxer getting tired, and slowing down after throwing a lot of punches at once. I can't wait to pick up my copy next week.

Wonder if this is one of those occasions where Gamespot actually ranks it higher. We'll see.
Regardless, I liked the demo a lot and it didn't take long at all to get used to the slightly slower gameplay. I'm a little concerned about the lack of info they give you in career mode (according to the IGN review), as you just have to fill a meter up to get title shots and there's no listing of fighters like in Round 2. Also of note from the review:
Speaking of silly, it was no great challenge to knockout heavyweight Muhammad Ali in the fifth round, on hard, with featherweight Manny Pacquiao, even though the Filipino stallion is less than half the size of Ali. Next year we really hope to see the AI and difficulty settings improved.
Since I generally suck at games I guess it'll be fine for me though. Will probably grab it when it comes out.
I really liked the demo, but I probally won't get it until it gets a price drop to $20 or $30. It's really fun to play, but I honestly don't care who the boxers are or where I'm fighting since I don't watch fights very often. NBA games are really the only ones where I care who I'm playing as or what the rosters are like since I watch NBA games often. I watched a lot of NFL and MLB the past couple years, but I still don't care much about new rosters for those games.

Thanks. I was wondering about these.
They seem a little straight-forward (like King Kong, NFS:MW, etc.). I love me some secret / obscure achievements. :(

As usual, shallow and bland achievements for this game as with all the other sports titles.

Probably just a rental for me. I liked the demo fine and all and it truely looks amazing, but I have to admit that I liked the arcadey feel of FN2 better. Maybe it'll just take some getting used to. I only played the demo about 3 times.

I may have to get it...when, I'm nto sure. I'm still playing through my other sports franchises right now, but this demo was pretty fun. So, we'll see.....more than likely, my BestBuy gift cards will be gone :)

Man, I REALLY hope the achievement icon for the BK Invitational Fight is the King's face.
EA gives out points too easily. I would only get 50 points for beating Smash TV all the way through without continuing (totally impossible), but if I win one easy fight in FN3 I get three times as many.

from my experience with first two fightnight games, boxers do get faster and stronger through training, game gets pretty damn fast phase later on. i think fn3 will be the same. different boxer has different speed and power. light weight will be faster then heavy weight.

So how exactly is the Burger King King included in the game? Is he a boxer, or just a cheerleader-type guy?

Definetly not enough achievments. EA and 2K Series need to look at what Sega and Microsoft is doing with their titles.
I will be getting the game tomorrow at Best Buy if available and doing a price match to Fry's for $47.99.
Then add my $25 gift card (gift from co-worker) and $10 rewards coupon and you got another sweet deal for me :D.
