(As in, "I don't believe what I just saw!")
I don't think you will either, that's why I took pictures of my find:

Yeah, that says 1989 on the Upper Deck pack. There were a ton of 'em, too. Too bad the UD was $3.47 a pack (pretty much what they cost back then, if I'm not mistaken). It's actually a really good deal compared to current card packs, 5 cards for $3. WTF? I'm glad I stopped collecting in '93.
Got a Craig Biggio in the Donruss pack (only player still active), and nothing special in the UD. Wally World also had a complete 1990 Donruss set and a 1990 Score Extended set. It was so fucking weird.
BTW, how do you like the new camera? Choice.

Please tell me one of the packs came with gum, and that you chewed said gum.

No, back then only Bowman and Topps came with gum. And I saw neither...unfortunately.
I might go back for some more, if Mr. Beckett says that any of the cards might be worth more than three cents.

You got ripped off. There were so many cards of those made that even the rookies are basically worthless. Not trying to rain on your parade, but I don't want you to keep purchasing something that is pretty much worthless.

That'd be great advice if I hadn't collected nearly all of these already. The Ken Griffey is still worth the price of admission, but not nearly the $100+ it was 15 years ago. I just think that unopened baseball cards for 17 years ago at Wal-mart kick some major ass. My Beckett comment was more of a joke.

Yeah apparantly other stores have been carrying some of these old wax packs recently. There are some cool new cards around though. I recently got back into cards and jersey and auto cards are pretty cool innovations since the early 90's.

I am glad I wasn't the only person thinking this exact thing.

It's not worth what it use to be, is it? Last I saw it was only in the $50-60 range.

Leaf is owned by Donruss and it does still exist. MLB did not give Donruss (and thus Leaf as well) a license this year to produce MLB cards, so they are limited to the other sports.
