In about three hours, I'll be at school and presenting my research project.

I go to a magnet school for math and science classes in the afternoon. Part of the school's curriculum is doing a research project that ties together the math, science, and computer classes. The project takes ten weeks, and culminates in a paper and a presentation.

My topic for my Physics class this year? Radiation shielding.

The paper was almost 50 pages this year (47, if I'm not mistaken). The presentation is supposed to be in between 12 and 15 minutes. The presentation is definitely formal - I'll be in a suit and absolutely not allowed to joke around.

The worst part? The presentation IS my final in my computer class. 20% of my grade for the SEMESTER in 15 minutes.

I'm nervous as all hell, but I'm hoping I do fine...

As I am from Wisconsin and everything we root for is instantly jinxed to failure, I will boo you instead, which will grant you great grade-winning powers. Booooooooo! Packers/Brewers/Bucks are gonna beat your presentation down! Go Wisconsin!

Good luck, presentations sucks. I have to give them at work sometimes. Don't worry, it can't be as bad as the one I saw. The guy was so nervous he was sweating so he went to the bathroom to wash his hands and face right before he went in to the boardroom. He didn't realize that he had spilled a little water on his pants front right in the magic spot. He went on with the whole thing and everyone in the room was trying not to laugh. He found out about it later. Everytime he would get stressed, we would tell him to calm down and not piss himself.

Don't look into anybody's eyes. Pick a spot in the room and focus on it. Good luck

yeah, good luck. I always hated oral presentations in my school, I would get the nerves so badly and my stomach would be tied up into knots. In fact one time in 4th grade we were supposed to present some poster about China to the class. But after I had made it my nerves shot up so much I could barely breathe. Then the teacher asked for me next and i cried out no, and I hid under my desk. Now that 's some pretty strange nerves.

But yeah, once you get up there just keep calm and try to tell yourself that everyone else has to do the same thing as you. Don't look into anyones eyes except the teacher's occasionally. Try and slow down your breathing if you're really nervous like I am, because when I have to do a presentation sometimes my voice quivers. Just concentrate and focus, It'll all be over. and good luck!!!! I know i probably couldn't do something like that.

I've always been able to perform well and/or better under extreme pressure situations for some reason, which is probably why i got 100 on my final Computer Applications 1 PowerPoint project final i gave on the job i plan on obtaining/going to school for after High School. I had'nt looked at the presentation for ages, i barely remembered the slide order, but i just went up there in front of all those people and said to myself "fuck it, who cares" and pretty much gave the best presentation the teacher had seen all day (this was the last period, as well). So i got lucky :)

Yeah but I hope you did good/do good. I don't know if your already done.

Time to let you all know how I did...

How did it go? Pretty damn well, actually. One of the guys in my class told me that my hands were shaking during the entire presentation. My partner and I both stumbled on words and forgot what we needed to say at certain points. We couldn't get our video in the presentation to play until I picked up the mouse and rolled the ball with my index finger. On top of all of that, we had to skip the last few slides in an attempt to finish within the time limit...and we were one second over. >_<

Still, we did well. We handled almost all of the questions from the audience appropriately, and even answered correctly a few times. People told us that we sounded confident and knew what we were doing. We covered everything we needed to in our presentation. Best of all, we got people to laugh, mainly with our apology slide and our smart-ass answers to questions.

End result? A 94 from my Physics teacher, impressed parents, and having my friends say that they were proud of me and that I had done a good job. I'm happy with the outcome. :)
