Im really looking forward to playing Call of Duty 2 and NBA 2k6 on my 360, But dont quite have 60 bucks to drop on them yet.
When do you think that the launch titles are going to drop down around $30/40?

When the PS3 launches.
My Hastings got a used copy of COD2 in the other day, they priced it at $34.99. Same with PD:Z CE. I'll keep an eye out, if they get more used copies of COD2 or a copy of NBA 2K6, i'll put it on hold and contact you.

I've noticed at time EBgames has been selling NBA, NHL and a few other games used for $44.99 occasionally. If you use the cag15, edge card and saver it ends up being shipped for about $40 which is pretty dam good.

PS3? Isnt that a little long for a sports game to hold its value?

Thanks Scorch. :)
Pratt: Ive noticed that as well. Wouldnt it be like $30 with the coupons? (I Checked using them with PGR 3 a while back, because its listed $45 used as well). Thanks though, appreciate the help.

Not for a next-gen system's launch, no

I doubt it will take that long for the sports games to drop. Plus you dont even know when the PS3 will launch. So if it launchs at the end of the year there is no way NBA 2K6 will still be 59.99 until then. Should be within the next couple months.

I'm going to say by the end of the Summer at the very longest, especially for sports/first-party titles.

Well Madden should drop to $30 at most by the summer because 2007 will be coming out in August. I don't expect any of the other games to drop until the PS3 launches.

Yeah, I don't see many drops....especially since there are not many new games out or coming out....
I know USED is your best bet for cheaper games. EBGames has them for a decent price.

One word: Ebay.
You can get pretty much find any of the launch titles for around $35-50 buy-it-now if you look hard enough...even cheaper if you don't mind buying used.

yea games like King Kong, Gun, Need for Speed...people are willing to sell for a pretty good price on eBay as the poster said above. Just look around, and watch for the jerks who charge too much for shipping ;-)

I have yet to pay more than $43 for any of the 9 games (PDZ, NFS:MW, Kameo, Condemned, DOA4, CoD2, TH:AW, Quake4 and King Kong) I have owned. There have been deals all over the place if you have been looking. Gamestop B2G1, GameRush 25% off and $29.99 ($39.99) PO deal, BB had Quake 4 and NFS:MW for $40 AC, etc.
Those were all without taking into account trade in credit, which lowers the price paid even more. I actually find that the $60 retail price is nice because it is keeping the resale value of the games up.

gamecrazy has kameo, pgr3, condemned, and others in the 41.99(w/o mvp) range. Those 3 are 37.99 with mvp, but i might be mistaken for condemned, it might be 40.49 with mvp(44.99 w/o, like all the other used games)

I am hoping by March we might see some of the titles drop 10 or 20
But $30 range is going to be quite awhile. I'm guessing Christmas for the sports title, the others? Who knows. Either way I'm sure you'll be able to score cheap copies of pre-owned games by early Summer for around $25ish.

As the launch titles are really the prime offerings for the next few months IIRC, I wouldn't expect to see a drop until the winter holiday season.
And even then, we all remember how long it took for Halo and Halo 2 to drop. An extreme case, I know, but there is precidence.

True...But Halo is a system seller (It's why I bought my original XBox). There aren't any games out there yet that you could put in the same league as Halo 1 or 2.
Hopefully the Oblivion and Ghost Recon:AW releases will change that...
